Do we have enough to get the win today? Absolutely, 100%.

The difficulty is demonstrating it over 90 minutes. Playing a great 45 minutes then a terrible 45 isn’t any good, you will suffer a lot doing that.

We need to be on top for a good 70/80% of this game and take our chances. Norwich will definitely get chances with our defense we so need to rely on the keeper a bit, a little bit of wastefulness from them and we need to bury our chances when we have them.

I’ll make no excuses, I don’t rate McClaren, I don’t think he will take us forward, not seen any of his sides play particularly quality football. But it’s who we have now, so I want him to do well. Hope he can go on to prove me wrong.

I think I was right for once….nice change.

Great win but we won’t be playing Norwich every week, we still have the worst defence in the league.
Great three points though. Get in!

    our toon

Stats might not cover everything about sissoko and colback but so far this season each stat could be over ruled by another player.

jam had better form than sissoko with creativity, if we had another RB i’d say jam should himself be the RW.

if it’s CAM although he’s playing as a wide man wij has had the better form like that of a player who wound want to play a CAM midfielder and no 10 he’s in the centre each and every time waiting for the chance to get those goals which aren’t scored by a forward

If it’s a CDM then colback shows the better form of a player with the work rate and tackling like a CDM.

this season hasn’t been the easiest of season but now we’ve beaten norwich 6-2 showing they are capable of making a threat and with such a shambolic defence we can’t afford to see the likes of sissoko dropping off too much.

Tiote should retire he’s nothing but a liability.

  • 5 Transfer Sage // Oct 18, 2015 at 6:36 PM

Today Sissoko showed his class….that’s the player we know he is and who we want to see every week.

Yes he would over run it at times but the benefits far outweighed the negatives.

It’s the fear of losing the ball that has hurt us the most in recent years, so worried about losing possession we rarely take the chance to create…..much much better today. Really hope this can continue.

why isnt Sissoko’s pass for Ayoze goal not being counted as an assist?

  • 7 toonking // Oct 18, 2015 at 6:42 PM

This must the quietiest this blog i’ve seen in months once the whistle has blown.

KK, when tiote was on we were not getting overrun in midfield, as soon as Anita came on we were under the cosh. Tiote basically made two errors, he got a yellow and gave the ball away once.
His passing was excellent, he plays the ball firmly and with pace usually out to Janmaat, compare this with Colback who rolls it out when in the same position.
Tiotes passes get us on the front foot, Colbacks slow us down.
I’m in no way saying he’s great and should start every week but he did some very good things in the first half. He won the ball high up the pitch in the air and got us on the attack on 3 or 4 occasions as well.

Before the game all the doom mongers were giving us their ‘wisdom’. The best was:

I can see this formation with the payers selected being an absolute mistake.

No pace on the left. Dummet can do lb if he has a winger with enough pace to support him.

Gini and sissoko are not wingers. We can get away with playing one on then img but not both.

Getting a result here will solely rely on janmaat. If Norwich realise that they will very easily be able to kill any threat.

Thinking about it when a good result has happened it’s hard generally to talk about much because we’ve won so all of the blaming can’t be done.

A 6-2 win is great, but it masked deficiencies in our play.

Far better from Sissoko today, although far from a complete performance. Interesting to see Norwich visibly target the flank he was on. Wonderful ball in for Wijnaldum’s second, and also for Mitro’s goal. Happy days. If he can do it regularly and do better off the ball then everyone wins!

A good way to prepare for the derby, but far from a polished performance, and one that would likely see us lose more than win.

Even I’ve became far to use to talking negative that i can’t think of any think to chat about today

  • 13 Transfer Sage // Oct 18, 2015 at 6:48 PM

I think it’s because Perez’s initial shot was blocked, he scored off the follow up so doesn’t go down as a direct assist.

I agree that tiote did ok, could of little mistakes but nothing major. Also we need to remember it’s his first game in months.

I like colback, decent player, nothing great though. His passing is alright, not too slow but agree could be quicker at times.

Anita for me is a nothing player, other than short passes I think the rest of his game is very limited. But he gives his all which is to be admired at least.

Good win and personal performance by Gini. Important thing was getting the three points.
I have to say though it really was a poor quality game – overall.

Whats all this about hug and bask – is it a type of man dance I haven’t heard about. Seems a bit dodgy.

  • 15 Lilongwe Geordie // Oct 18, 2015 at 6:49 PM

I’d say Tiote should start every week as long as he can get back to the player he has been for us. He wasn’t outstanding today, but he was solid enough and kept it simple. He needs outlets he trusts, and today (partly because Norwich are abysmal off the ball) he had them.

    Glitch in the matrix.

  • 17 manxpie // Oct 18, 2015 at 6:50 PM

more worrying is people not commenting on a goal but then commenting on a poor bit of play happened quite a bit today strange for me!

  • 18 Mag52 // Oct 18, 2015 at 6:51 PM

Haidara in at LB with Dummett moving into CB in place of Colo would give us a better defence up to the January window when we will have to invest in a RB and a decent CB.
Forget Austin. Mitro’s the boy !

  • 19 Rotonda heights // Oct 18, 2015 at 6:51 PM

did you honestly see this result happening. I think many people have been very pleasantly surprised as I’m sure you have been.

It would have been very strange if you like many of us hadn’t been angry and frustrated with 3 draws and no wins from 8 games and dumped out of the cup at home to SW reserves.

I didn’t personally agree with lifeguard’s assessment but it’s a bit rich coming the holier than thou now, going on what had gone before.

  • 20 AncientC // Oct 18, 2015 at 6:52 PM

The Mitrovic/Perez partnership looked wicked today. Mitrovic winning everything in the air and Perez using his craft in the space created. They constantly look ready to pounce – that is the area of the pitch we have the least worries.

I cannot remember the last time we had two strikers that were compatible.

  • 21 toonking // Oct 18, 2015 at 6:53 PM

When we see how poor sunderland’s defence is i could see us go on to beat them, our trouble is going to come up against the more solid defences. We’ll not have as many chances to score such easy goals leaving us more vunerable to a loss because we must have one of the worst defensive line ups in this league

  • 22 mindshaft // Oct 18, 2015 at 6:53 PM

Chuffed, good win – surprised to see people slating Tiote – he picked up an early yellow and lost the ball once but mostly bossed midfield – both Norwich goals were due to our wingers not tracking back (bizarrely by our two best players today in Sissoko and Gini).
Might even watch motd tonight for the first time in ages
