Shearer Tweets Reaction To First Win – Congratulates Wijnaldum

Alan Shearer has tweeted his delight at Newcastle getting their first win today with the magnificent Gini Wijnaldum getting four goals – the first time that has happened since Alan was playing for us.

alan shearer latest

Alan Shearer – last player to score 4 goals for Newcastle
Of course!

The time on Alan’s tweet is US eastern time – add five hours for Newcastle time – Alan may have just finished his second pint in celebration.

Wiji along with Shearer is one of only two toon players to score 4 or more in a prem game. We all know Shearer is the best player in a toon shirt of all time, however WIjinaldum is a midfielder so deserves special mention. 30 million, no less for this lad.

Haven’t been on today because we conquered Snowdon. My little lad absolutely smashed it by the way so thanks to all who donated because he raised over £1000.

Couldn’t even keep tabs on the scores, had to rely on my Bro once we got nearer the bottom. Excellent result. What a day!

Tiote’s passing was all sideways, glad he came off we looked better for it

    Observations from the 1892 club.

Pleased to see Sissoko has silenced his knockers this week.

Wijnaldum shows what you need from a midfielder. Assists but better still, goals.

Another good show from Perez who clearly enjoys playing up with Mitro.

Largely a poor showing from Mitro today but his presence and partnership with Perez mean he’s a must. Cracking goal.

I made a point of focusing on Colo, particularly when defending corners and set pieces. OMG! What an embarrassing liability. He has no physical presence and attackers brush him aside as if he’s not there. Please Makro. Get rid. It could easily have been a very different story.

Janmaat. Suspect defensively. Can’t pick out a telling pass going forward.

    Dummett. Rusty.

Pleased to see Makro grinning when we’ve won instead of when we’ve lost. I don’t mind his smarmy grins one bit when we win.

The way I saw the match today.

First 15 mins we looked in total control without really threatening too much then got the goal.

After that we looked bad and let Norwich right back in to it with awful defending. We could’ve collapsed but showed great character to turn the tide and get another 2.

Then more calamitous defending saw them right back in it again and after the break they were all over us. I feel if they’d scored they’d have won 4-3, but luck was on our side and we got the goal and that was that.

Winaldum was immense today even taking away his 4 goals. I have no clue how anyone could choose a different motm. Sissoko was great but come on, an all round great performance plus 4 goals from midfield.

Anyway that’s my view if anyone can be bothered to read it.

yeah tads people saying norwich dominated since tiote came off like tiote was the man in the 1st half!
the only time tiote touched the ball was from someone passing to him and a couple of intercepting headers that is all
norwich dominated 2nd half because they didn’t sit back as much as there own manager said he also said it was probably a mistake

I can be bothered to read your post. I agree with it. 3% voted for Mitrovic. That’s incredible. Wijnaldum was, like you say, immense. Mitrovic was important for his presence, scored a great goal but had a generally subdued game.

    Tads,
Direction of pass is surely irrelevant to the stat and your original comment. You said he gave the ball away continuously. He didn’t.

Anyway, off now. Catch up another day.

Yes, loads of great performances all over the pitch, not taking anything away from anyone. But 1 truly amazing performance.
Apparently first time in 16 years a nufc player got a hat trick and some people going for others?!!

    Lilo
Was easily dis-possessed on several occasions, nout to do with his crab like passing by poor spacial awareness and in-ability to release the ball quickly enough
Against a half decent side he’d of been butchered today

The lads gone, he’s welcome to feign injuries until someone buys him if he keeps him away from the pitch

Went to see the game today came all the way from Bournemouth don’t think I could have picked a better game to come to! The quartet of Gini, Mitro, Pérez and Sissoko need to keep performing because on their day they can turn games round single handedly as proved today

@Harley: The thing that got me about Moussa was his atrocious defending. He improved in the second half, but for all he had a hand in each of our goals, he also had a hand in both of Norwich’s, and that tarnished an otherwise solid game for him.

For all Gini might have put us under pressure on a few occassions, his forward play more than made up for it. The lad was absolutely unplayable today, and if he can perform like that game after game, we’ve got a fscking bargain on our hands.

The front 4 were amazing. its wat we have to build on. The players need to keep to build a team.

Krul, Mbemba, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Ayoze, Mitrovic.

We need a solid CM ti stand besides Colback and A new CB to partner Mbemba a new LB.

Somebody else has probably said this, but how frustrating is Sissoko? Just when you are finally ready to write him off as a lost cause he plays like that. The powerhouse performance you know he has in him. I don’t understand it.

Thought that Elliott in goal had a pretty decent game and was composed. Good effort to come in as the No. 3 choice with so little playing time. Will SM replace him with Darlow as soon as he is fit?

Great new mate, well done, I bet the little cherub sleeps tonight.

On the match, we won it convincingly in the end, just glad Norwich has a poor defence too. This result helps to rekindle the hope, but turning up for one match does not make a season, I hope now we see some consistency in our play.

Same again against the makems and the hope may begin to turn to belief.
