An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

I’m not sure what from the game can be attributed to good coaching. We dont really have a style you can hang your hat on. We dont play possession or tippy tappy or hoofball or counter attack. How would you sum it up? It’s just kind of end to end, make it up as you go football, which I’m not sure how or why you would specifically coach. Is it just more like “get our there and win by whatever means possible”?
Reminds me more os Hughtons Toon team.

Nope. We lost the central midfield battle far more after he went off.

Comment #6Manx, I think if you watched the game back again you’d see some of the good stuff he did. One bad challenge that was unlucky to get a yellow and one loss of possession were outweighed by his general play and control of midfield in my opinion. As i said we lost that as soon as he was replaced by Anita.
I’m not advocating starting him every week and giving him 90 mins but he played a lot better than I thought he was going to.

Comment #7LG you have coaching quals, is it possible to coach a team to play like we did today? Much of it looked freestyle going forward.

Comment #11Just back from the match – I have to say the second half is the strangest game of football I’ve ever seen. Norwich completely dominated possession yet practically every time we did get the ball we scored – amazing. At 5 – 2 we just need to keep the ball but we couldn’t – defence is still very shakey!

Comment #12Glad Tiote didn’t appear for the 2nd, he always gives me the impression there’s a wildly mistimed tackle imminent, and the booking sealed it. It was a bad challenge man, can’t see how it was an unlucky yellow!
Colback did what he does, got in the right place at the right time more often than not, to do the mucky stuff. There was panic throughout the defence and midfield at times…which goes with the low confidence and poor points tally since the back end of last season. A few players coming into form now, should improve that a bit.

I can’t see the removal of tiote having much of a change in our team, we’ve had a shamples of second half games most weeks. colback was taken off against chelsea and somehow that turned an awful second half with everything getting to the defence. City itself was like a horror show, they got everything into the box during the second half and next minute we’re 6-1 down.

Comment #15Gotta say not sure what everyone saw in Tiote
He looked sh1te, gave away possession booked immediately kept trying that stupid turn thing just outside our box and lost the ball
Thought we moved the ball around miles better when he went off

Yeah, really. They dominated possession in the middle of the park second half. either of the first half goals can be blamed on Tiote in centre mid – both came from poor tracking back and marking from a few players, not just our wide mids.
I agree Tiote hasn’t been great often over the past 2 years, but he needs to be able to keep it simple. He tried to do too much in the past and it isn’t his game. He had options today, but he wouldn’t have them against better sides. He has had injury problems for a while, and put in a decent performance considering.
Colback was okay today, but to say he was running about to cover Tiote hugely overlooks the fact that he charges about like a headless chicken on steroids every game.
Sutty,
If they have been coached to play like that then I’m not sure what they are actually targeting. I think they want a quick counter attacking side, but Cathro generally coaches high pressing. I don’t think they have quite found the balance or the level they are after. Mitro was urging his teammates to press higher most of the match, there seem to be conflicting styles, and particularly given my recent trip and conversations, wonder whether this is the source of contention between coaches.
Toonking,
That is a fair point, we have collapsed often in the second half. I guess it is difficult to really tell how much of an influence it had, or whether it was just a lack of confidence.

3-5-2 is too big an ask and it was at times what we were playing today. It does sound odd saying this when we’ve won the match but as a crap set of CB they can’t afford to put too much work into preventing the crosses and whilst we might have won 6-2 today most times we’ll not have the great luck of a crap opposing defence.
4-4-2 is the best formation to use because it’s got the wide midfielders to stop them wide men before they’ve got the chance to get towards the full back area and whilst the help each other out the centre midfielders can provide those in the centre the help.

Comment #22Just got in from match
Great result – but
Norwich were the more composed on the ball moved it around and running off the ball much better than ours.
Our defending was at awful at sixes and sevens down our right cannot they had acres of space to play in as Janmaat was tucking inside leaving the winger free as sissoko was not covering back and Tiote hadn’t a clue where ha was playing.
tighten up a lot second half with the introduction of Anita to fill that the space in front of Janmaat.
You could see we were nervous as we stopped passing the ball out from the back and resorted to hoofball
Elliott – 6 did ok distribution poor – needs to throw it out more as he has one-hell of a throw.
Dummett – 7 did wel for being out of the team so long.
Colocinni – 7 Ok did nowt wrong
Mbemba – 7 again did nowt wrong.
Janmaat – 5 got pulled all-over the place
Sissoko – 6 did well going forward bur defensive duties poor.
Colback – 7 did the job he had to
Tiote – 4 to slow gets caught in possession and dived into a rash tackle getting himself booked first 5 minutes
Wijnaldum – 10 absolut brilliant – going to struggle to hold on to him
Perez – 8 buzzed around all- afternoon chasing lost causes linked up well with mitrovic
Mitrovic – 8 took his goal well held up the ball well – maybe needs to jump ad head the ball a bit more instead of trying to bring it down on his chest all the time.
Anita 7 – made the difference in front of the defence second half
Hiadara 7 did well when he came on and got stuck in
Cisse – was not on long enough to merit
