Video – McClaren’s Sky Sports Interview – We Must Keep Producing

It was a bad 6-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium a couple of weeks ago,  but we cannot think of a better reaction at home today from our players than the 6-2 win they served up against Norwich City.

And it was the first time Newcastle had scored 6 goals since Chris Hughton was the manager and we hammered Aston Villa 6-0 at St. James’ Park on 22nd August 2010 – our first home game back after being promoted from the Championship in the previous May.

I certainly agree totally with what you say about jam, earlier i made a team up showing who can keep the position and who should see a replacement, I had put up a new right back in my team and what i did with jam is move him down towards wingers because he does have much more to him like that of a winger than a RB.
It’s happened with a RB in the past at newcastle when malcolm macdonald himself was moved from being a full back into a striker.

    Just got in from match
    Great result – but
Norwich were the more composed on the ball moved it around and running off the ball much better than ours.
Our defending was at awful at sixes and sevens down our right cannot they had acres of space to play in as Janmaat was tucking inside leaving the winger free as sissoko was not covering back and Tiote hadn’t a clue where ha was playing.
tighten up a lot second half with the introduction of Anita to fill that the space in front of Janmaat.

You could see we were nervous as we stopped passing the ball out from the back and resorted to hoofball

Elliott – 6 did ok distribution poor – needs to throw it out more as he has one-hell of a throw.
Dummett – 7 did wel for being out of the team so long.
Colocinni – 7 Ok did nowt wrong
Mbemba – 7 again did nowt wrong.
Janmaat – 5 got pulled all-over the place
Sissoko – 6 did well going forward bur defensive duties poor.
Colback – 7 did the job he had to
Tiote – 4 to slow gets caught in possession and dived into a rash tackle getting himself booked first 5 minutes
Wijnaldum – 10 absolut brilliant – going to struggle to hold on to him
Perez – 8 buzzed around all- afternoon chasing lost causes linked up well with mitrovic
Mitrovic – 8 took his goal well held up the ball well – maybe needs to jump ad head the ball a bit more instead of trying to bring it down on his chest all the time.

Anita 7 – made the difference in front of the defence second half
Hiadara 7 did well when he came on and got stuck in
Cisse – was not on long enough to merit

And by the way, Janmaat was by far Newcastle’s worst player today

what you have against Mbemba? He is our best defender this season…He just need better partner there and what we need most is strong DM as we havent got any…sorry we have Tiote, but it would be better to sell him and bring one better…He is slow, gives away stupid fouls and lost ball a lot of times…we need CB starter a beast and DM starter a beast and we will be much much better side…

Totally agree, and he has nothing against him but he thinks that he is not the finished product and that janmaat is our best defender….

The problem with football fans is they see a team conceding and think ahh their whole defence must be rubbish. Without Mbemba we would be on 0 points this season, thats no exaggeration.

Will folk please stop talking nonsense.

Supermac was changed from a full back to a striker at the age of 17 playing for Tonbridge Angels.

Dummett and Janmaat for some reason spent 20 minutes of the 1st half looking as if they had never played fullback in their lives , I suspect it was the fact that after his yellow Tiote surrendered the centre channel and both were concerned to protect Elliot.

Anyway the coaching team sorted everyone out at half time.

Thank god we had Anita to bring in.

No one has mentioned it but Anthony Taylor as a ref was crap , he misses so much , I can’t be arsed to list the stuff he missed !!!!

Unfortunately of all the stupid comments from the usual suspects over the past few days , this is the only one I saved.———–

    Defence needs sorting asap.

Think most of the CM today didnt feel like tracking back.
Our entire back line needs replacement only possible exception janmaat.

But him being suspect going defensive.

    Need 2 very pace CB’s.

If any defender were to remain as a starter mbemba hould be the one, jam more worse than mbemba and it’s all that space in the width than allows these chances to get created. The full backs are the type who need the pace as they’ll be able to get forward and get back Cb main object is to mark the men waiting for the ball and get the headers.

If we had the CDM and full backs not allowing such a vast number of chances then the cb won’t have so many problems to deal with.

Terrific! A real boost of confidence for McC and the players, and just ass importantly for the fans who have surely been wondering if a seemingly capable side has the mental toughness to get themselves out of this and heading in the right direction. Great games from Sissoko, Peres, Mitro, and Widjnaldum, which augurs so well for us too. Great, timely, and much needed result.Astonishing really coming on the heels of the city thumping. Bring on those horrible Mackems!

No We >NEED< URGENTLY a big hard centre back that takes no prisoners. Obviously we can't afford the best one in the business but look at players like Vidic, Samba and even Skrtel. All players that cost next to nowt from small teams.

Thats where we should be scouting, and Mbemba alongside him would be perfect, haidaira did well when he came on but another proper full back would do wonders too. other than that I think we are alright, possibly Cisse out and Austin in.

great match for the front 4! albeit against a terrible defence. Agree with those who point finger at our defensive midfield as being our weakest position. Love Janmat but his defense was indeed a bit weak today, but great going forward. Sissoko likewise a bit weak in defense but fantastic in attack. Mbemba was best defender and Colo was decent today. Dummett looked rusty but glad he got the start under his belt. New players looking very good, with only Thauvin still to show up. Gotta ride the momentum and bury the Mackems next weekend! HWTL!

Next transfer market is crucial. We really need RB and DM. And must be a quality one!! Hope we get players on Gini level. It will be brilliant.
