Gini Wijnaldum had a game to remember yesterday for Newcastle as he scored four goals in a game for the first time since the great Alan Shearer was playing for us at Newcastle – and his form and goals propelled Newcastle to a 6-2 first win of the season against Norwich City.

We were still poor in defense – but hey some of the team worked almost to perfection yesterday when we scored six great goals the other two coming from Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Gini Wijnaldum four goals

I voted for Gini as MOM, how could you not when he scored four and saved one on the line, but in any other game it would have to be Sissoko who showed what he can do as an attacking force. Wonderful performance from him.

Our best signing and player, all of our signings look great, just want thauvin to show what he can do, he’s got the ability.

Front 2 look a real partnership,, nice to have that again after so long.
Wini and Sissoko excelled, if Sissoko plays consistently like that then all is good.
CM still looks like an area we need to strengthen, Tiote is a liability until he gets 5/6 games to get upto speed, touch heavy, awareness not great,, worried if he plays next week.
Defence not improved, Mbemba needs help.

Overall the first 45mins vs Chelsea and City added to this match show there is improvement. 442 is the way to go clearly. Strengthen Cb and CM in January, maybe another Cf to replace Cisse too and we are on the right track.

So what’s happening with Cabella, is playing well or is he rubbish with Marseille.

Im a little worries about Perez being chased from Man U and Spurs.

I hope there is nout in it.

Mitrovic links up well with Perez, and also I’ve noticed Gini links up well with sissoko which is a double bonus, those four are going to be awesome to watch this season.

Don’t think he would go to either of those teams, he wants to play not sit on the bench.

I do like the look of mbemba, best defender we have had since Woodgate, are there any more mbembas out there we can sign,

yeah I go to every home game cups the lot – don’t get to away games often now –

Got to keep our feet on the ground for the Mackems game as our defence is shaky and we could easy ship 5 or 6
Best defence is attack with the speed we counter attacked second half

Im not sure like, he hit the ground running here he seems a confident lad I think he would probably do the same at those clubs. He dosn’t seem to mind being patient or fighting for his place either.

I think he is one of the best players at the club, few years time he will be amazing this lad I think.

I seen about 10 minutes of Marseille yesterday online. Cabella had a shot saved, made a good chance but the striker skewed it well wide and he looked like he was involved in most of the Marseille play. I have no idea other than that about his form & general play.

With the jury still out on Thauvin, you’d have to say that the summer signings are proving to be pretty darn good if yesterday’s game is anything to go by.
‘Old man’ Carr has clearly not lost it yet.

I haven’t said anything since the match yesterday for a variety of reasons but we still have a lot to be worried about.

We were winning just before half time 3-2 and when the camera’s scanned around the crowd you could see it in the faces of the supporters…they were all sh!t scared we could easily lose the game.

Norwich came out and dominated us for 20 minutes before we got the fourth…the crowd relived but still worried….then we thankfully put the game to bed.

The crowd were worried for the same reason I am…we are so bad defensively we will need to score 3 goals a game to win a game on the basis we’ve conceded an average of 2 goals a game.

The avalanche of goals we thankfully got yesterday will not come every week…there is no way we’ll come up against another defence as poor as norwich’s again this season and there is no way we’ll score 3 every game to make sure we’ll win a game and climb the table to any reasonable extent.

Winjy was lazy getting back, sissoko down right irresponsible…Dummet is not a left back, he’s a centre half, Janmaat was simply dreadful, Colo is so easily dominated and so poor positionally it’s a worry and the Anita / Colback combo is not working and Tiote is not the answer…not with Colback anyway.

However a great result and a great day…but the problems are still there and we still have plenty to be worried about because we don’t have the right people in the right places who can defend.

Still relegation fodder in my book.
