Alan Shearer has reacted on his Twitter account to Newcastle’s sixth defeat in a row to Sunderland – this time 3-0 – and Alan is right – although we had plenty of possession we had not cutting edge today up front. That’s now 13 goals conceded in the last three games.
🙁
And the reasons (sometimes known as excuses) keep mounting up as to why Newcastle have now lost six games in the first 10 league games and have conceded a massive 22 goals – which is the same as Bournemouth who were hammered 5-1 at home today to Spurs.
We have 6 points – one win and three draws – and are now second bottom of the table above only Aston Villa – whose manager Tim Sherwood was fired this morning.
Alan Shearer – penalty yes – red card no
Plenty of possession,no cutting edge. Penalty yes, red card no. #SAFCvNUFC

Unthinkable that it could be 6 in a row! It’s time @NUFC Over to you boys #Geordies #NUFC — Alan Shearer (@alanshearer) October 25, 2015
Just like last week was two steps forward – this week was three steps back.
We should be two steps forward again next Saturday night after we have played Stoke City at home.
We hope we will be two steps forward again next Saturday night after we have played Stoke City at home.

Comment #42JUDGE ME AFTER TEN GAMES.
Well here we go Wally -with over a quarter of games played we are second bottom with six points. Whilst Mr Tubbs is the main culprit in the demise of NUFC you are his agent and therefore represent him.
A points haul of 6 is shocking – roughly extrapolating the games/points further we could get around 24 points at the season end – this is relegation form.
You have failed the ten game test – set by yourself. As well as being complicit is whatever dark deeds were at play in extending ol’ permed hairs’ contract.
You, I’m afraid are yesterdays man.

A few bad balls but we still had a few good chances to score, we just wastes them. Brought about our own downfall

Comment #46I see Jib’s two favourites put on some show today, Colo being sent off and Thauvin being his usual useless self.
That’s the negatives out of the way. We should have blown them away in the first half but if you don’t score when you’re on top you usually live to regret it.
Ref bottled it all game and was definitely a home banker.
Thought some of the play was excellent. Sissoko had a very good game again although some of his crossing was wayward. Mitro battled all game, unlucky not to score a couple. Perez was quiet, couple of good touches and moves but not as influential as recently.
Where does McClaren go from here, the managers round about us have been sacked for having the same results as us.
I’ve changed my mind from a couple of weeks ago, I’m prepared to give him more time, not sure how long yet but performances in the last four games haven’t been relegation standard even if results have.
Some serious work to do for Carr in January, two words for him, Power, Pace.

Comment #47Well regardless if you see it bad luck, bad referring or bad defending the result is gutting….and imo once again self inflicted
Elliot had it covered, Colo is experienced enough to know if you make contact as the last man you give the ref a decision to make, it was a ridiculous mistake that once again cost us dearly
Ill discipline also cost us in regards to the fact the move could of never made it the box if Tiote hadn’t picked up his standard yellow card rendering him useless in protecting the back four
During the break he had a chance to make the tackle, he didn’t in fact he pulled out of the challenge….
Our two most senior players once again in this fixture cost us the game and personally would be more than happy if neither pulled on the black and white stripes again

Comment #48If colo challenge is not considered a shoulder barge, then either should catermoles challenge on wijnaldum 60 seconds before the penalty was awared

Comment #49Stuart, I agree. I’d also say that some of the shots weren’t clean strikes – powder puff. In the long run, it bodes well, with our general attacking play. Mitro is integral to that, though.
Never did we play those type of pre-planned link ups in the last few years. Off the cuff, yes, the odd time as it’s bound to occur, but there seems to be a lot more thought into the coaching, which is good to see. Nice that the possession was 70% in the first half away from home.
Short-term of the game – not great. Development – much improved.

Comment #50As i said earlier, peno all day. Red card probably debateable. Colo brought it all on himself. Was mbemba at fault in some way too? Again wtf did old man carr see in thauvin. He looks third rate.

We’ve got a slightly improved style of play….that’s about it
We’re certainly not fine, were planted in the bottom 3
To rub salt in the wounds it seems Villa could well be getting Garde, absolutely sick today

Could not agree more. I don’t get the delusional fans with we will be alright. We are not alright. Things are not working in all areas of pitch bar, Janmaat, Gini, Mitro to an extent, he was frustrated today. We have no LW we have no RW, we have no CM, we have the worst defence in a very long time and we have always had a shit defence.
Nothing positive going forward. If I was Ashley I would seriously start thinking of how I was going to recover all the lost money as we are a serious contender for relegation outright.
I just don’t see us winning any games from the top 10 clubs. Leaving us with very few games that we can contest going forward.
No player will want to join us in January and I don’t see why would they.

Like you say, debatable but don’t give the ref the opportunity to make the decision, just defend properly.
Hopefully we play well next week and Colo doesn’t get back in the team.

How melodramatic.
I am judging him after 10 games also.
We have a good squad , it needs tweaking for sure , but no way we are relegation fodder .
Every match there is observable improvement , with a pledge of more spending in the next 2 windows , the scum got lucky , their own blogs admit it .
Altogether now “The only way is up etc etc “

Comment #58Should have let Pards take Colo – he’s done!. Could have then brought in someone younger like Van Djyk. Badly need a CB & full back in January if it’s not too late by then. Looks like a dogfight between ourselves, Mackems, Villa , Bournemouth & maybe Stoke for the drop. Why he didn’t start Anita before Tiote never know. Thauvin another weak lightweight Frenchman who chickened out of the tackle for last goal. Sissoko drives hard at the heart of defences but then does too much & loses it. Suspensions on top of injuries is now very worrying even though yet again we had an excellent first half.Perez, Gino & Mitro continue to be bright lights though

Have been watching Van Dijk play ever since he joined the EPL… N every time I do, I cringe in my seat thinking what could have been had we been firm enough to actually sign him. He’s good on the ball, solid.. No nonsense kinda defending.. Good in the air… Plus good option for set pieces cuz of his height. He’s already shown that he’s adapted well in the league. A pairing of him n Chancel wudve been class…
Wishful thinking tho…. N what pisses me off even more is that the money that cudve been used to sign him was spent on that damn Pretty Boy Thauvin!!!!!
Damn u Carr!!! Damn u!!!

Comment #60Transfer Sage – If Coloccini is the last man back and gives away a penalty, he has by definition (as far as the ref is concerned) “denied an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick.” Deemed a red card offense.

Comment #61gorgonzola – just got to look at the table – 22 goals conceded – worst in the league -along with Bournemouth. They say the table does not lie. /the table agrees with what most fans think about the defence – over a 3 year period. Clearly no enough emphasis in rectifying this over the summer.
We are told lessons have been learnt – I would suggest they haven’t.

Comment #62I can not believe ppl are sayin colo should not have challenged fletcher. If fletcher had scored u all would be sayin colo should have at least put a shoulder in. Although colo is not that good anymore, there was nothing wrong with his challenge, only thing that was wrong was the ref decision.

The better football we are playing these days might be on account of the recent additions to the team of Gini (voted top Dutch player last season), Mitro (Serbian international cf) and Mbemba. Good football though won’t mean anything without points on the board come the end of the season.
A couple of scrappy wins would come in pretty handy about now IMO.
