We Were Much Better Than Them – Just Wait Until Next Time!

10:39 am, Tuesday, October 27th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 8 Comments

Before every derby game with Sunderland we get all the talk of bravado from the players and the managers about what they are going to do – and it´s for the fans and we´ll make sure we will win this game for the fans.

You know – all that stuff.

And after the game for the winners it´s all about how great they were in the game and we did it for the fans and weren’t we just great!

And for the losers it´s – well – just wait until we meet again because then we´ll really show them and we´ll win that game for sure.

You know – all that stuff.

It happens in every derby game and of course over the last six games the winners have been Sunderland – which is rather amazing and humiliating too for Newcastle fans.

We are a bit dubious about some of the headlines after the game coming from the Newcastle side – such as Newcastle controlled the game.

We controlled the game and lost 3-0?

Right-back Daryl Janmaat has said after his third defeat playing against Sunderland that he´s looking forward to the next derby game and it will be so different then.

This is what Daryl said:

“It’s disappointing, but I believe we are much better than them.”

“We play them again on March 19, and then we have to show them. Second-half, we played with 10 men, so it’s always difficult.”

“But, in the first half, you could see who wanted to play, who was the better team, and I think in every piece of the game we were better.

“It is disappointing because you lost the derby and that is not nice, especially for the supporters. We wanted to win.”

“Relegation is a worry. That’s normal, because we are now in the relegation positions, so we have to do better and win games soon.”

““We haven’t had a good start – that’s simple.”  “We have to improve.” “But I think in the last two or three games we have shown some promising things.”

“I think we can do it, but every time there’s something new that costs us the game.”

This game is yet another one when we didn´t pick up the points we should have – and it seems to be a continuing problem for the team this season.

We need to beat Stoke City at home on Saturday.

Comments welcome.

Ok, last comment on derby, we must look forward. After the goal, of course, I went away from the TV (so I wouldn’t break it). So, I heard Bellamy and someone else say, no penalty, the other wxxxxr said yes pen.

Bravo Bellamy, you were excellent for this team, man. You should’ve smacked that Sounness character, who led us to the current abyss, from CL material. Respect.

@jib – think given starting will help us tbf, Butland has been the stand out keeper in the league this season. Its not been we’ll publicised but hes been stokes best player by a mile.
Givens discomfort at coming off his line and coming for crosses might help us too as we put a few in to mitro.
Shame shawcross is likely back, him vs mitrovic will be a battle n half

Would love Valdes! excellent distribution, almost a sweeper keeper! Worth mentioning that he actually had some great games last season when he played! Think it was hull at end of the season where he was immense

see nowt wrong that team and I’ve always favoured a 5-3-2 with the players we have but it’ll never happen in a month of sundays.

Nufc never made signing denders a priority yet they have time and time again waseted millions on striker or winger flops .
