Steve McClaren send an email before the game saying the lads would be trying to win the game against Sunderland last Sunday.
We didn´t and it´s now history and yesterday Steve McClaren sent another email to fans apologizing for the 3-0 defeat but that the lads are now ready for tomorrow´s game at home against Stoke City.
Alan Shearer – just win the games
Seems like Alan would just like Newcastle to win the games.
Call me old fashioned, but I’d rather we won matches than sent open letters! #NUFC https://t.co/MP8OPHlQYa

What do you think of the two emails – is it good communication from the head coach or is he overdoing it?
Comments welcome.

Comment #3fans complain when there isn’t any communication, then complain about too much…
Yeah of course am the same with the rest i just want to win games but guess what. If the players aren’t pulling their weight we now have written evidence that they don’t stick to their word. But in all honesty can anyone seriously say that we deserved that on Sunday? Only perhaps Colo really let us down and even then I still don’t think its a pen.
But of course I will judge come 5 oclock tomorrow evening. It’s just such a shame about the whole collocini at centre back issue as with a proper centre back like matip with mbemba we would look so much better all round.

Lilon – I know Matip isn’t the answer. But let’s say we bring a commanding cb who can Marshall the back line.Who will you drop?

Matip would be decent competition for Mbemba, not as his partner though. He isn’t vocal enough and is prone to lapses in concentration. He does well at Schalke because Howedes is a fantastic communicator and organiser. We need someone like Howedes to be talking to and shouting at the full backs and other centre back constantly.

Comment #13The guff that pours out from the club these days is not (IMO) the club communicating with the fans, but the club and a couple of individuals either filling our heads with excuses, or empty promises.
McClaren wanted to be judged after 10 games, and I am happy to do that.
Over the past few weeks the team has improved, we are starting to look more like a team, and they are starting to learn about each other and what each as an individual can bring to the team as a whole.
So there is a lot to be positive about in that respect, and Injuries aside we are playing a better brand of football going forward, with some decent movement ahead of the ball for a change.
Whist the football and team are better, the results are not, we are diabolical in defence, and have concede 22 goals in those first 10 games, which begs the question, Who is the defensive coach?
On paper our defence look pretty good, Janmaat, Mbemba, Coloccini ?, Hairdara. I put a question mark next to Captain Collo because his bad games are starting to outweigh his good ones.
Overall, we look a better team, but we need to wins some games, I think McClaren should have the next six games to put some points on the board, if he fails then the cloves are off as far as I am concerned.

That is definitely another negative, both would expect to be away for Jan and part of Feb in 2017 so it would mean we are back to square 1 for 6+weeks or we would have to buy another, maybe 2 top centre halves in the summer.

Comment #16I kind of agree that the club is damned if they do (put out these statements) and damned if they don’t (keep it close to the chest). But ultimately Shearer is right. Talk is irrelevant, results are not. Charnley and McClaren must surely be on thin ice and the melting point might only be a couple of games away. On Matip, he is just not the player we need. Sure he has some good qualities but not the right fit. I’ve watched him a lot (on TV) and he is not the hard, reliable CB we are crying out for. Anyway, January transfers are always a bit of a raffle and the mythical horse may well have bolted by then anyway. No room for amateur hour in the Premier League these days and that sort of sums us up. Can’t even spell a player’s name correctly on his shirt. Pathetic, really.

Charnley’s not issued the FF minutes yet. He’s had to prioritise his work load since the tea-lady retired!

Comment #18What we lack most now is a dominant, strong DM to break up opposition play, protect the back 4 and give the ball to our undoubtedly skilful players (Gini mainly).
McClaren and his boys should have known Tiote was finished and Anita not strong enough. Most of us fans could see that why didn’t he? I like the style of football they’re trying to play but I think he’s trying to keep everyone happy and that never works ! Anyway hopefully we can get a few points on the board and strengthen in January otherwise we’re in the shit basically.

Comment #19Agreed. Save the positive psychology for the players who may need it. Fans want results. Yes, there are positive signs, 3 out of 4 signings have been good. But there is still (way) too much deadwood in our so-called squad, diminishing competition and options. We need to admit thye mistakes in recruitment and have a fire sale followed by some more significant investment from Mashley. Time is running out.

Comment #20Happy Birthday to the incomparable Tony Green by the way. Tragically short career but as good as any I’ve seen in the shirt. Anybody else remember him carving up Leeds “unstoppable” midfield one day? And subsequently Johnny Giles typically miserable article in “Shoot!” trying to excuse the howking he got. Pure gold.
