Newcastle have lost Jack Colback for up to six weeks with the knee injury he picked up after a tackle last Sunday from Lee Cattermole – but the good news is that Coloccini had his red card rescinded and will play.
We suppose Cheick Tiote will stay in the side for the game against Stoke tomorrow, and Vurnon Anita will partner him – but we don´t seem to have too many players who can play in that defensive midfield position – unless Steve McClaren wants to play somebody like Siem de Jong there.
Cheick Tiote – will start tomorrow
It´s likely that Yoan Gouffran who played at Manchester City will be brought in as a substitute since he can play there.
But the Frenchman didn´t play all that well at the Etihad Stadium few weeks ago in the 6-1 humiliation and wasn´t even on the bench at Sunderland.
And it´s not like Cheick Tiote had a good game at the Stadium of Light either – so it´s a bit of a worry against Stoke as to how the Ivory Coast International will perform.
And how long it will take for him to pick up a yellow card.
We should have kept Mehdi Abeid at the club.
Anyway – this could be the side for tomorrow’s game in a 4-4-2 formation:
Janmaat Mbemba Coloccini (c) Dummett
Sissoko Tiote Anita Wijnaldum
Subs: Woodman Haidara Lascelles Gouffran de Jong Thauvin Cisse
So that´s just one change from the team that started at Sunderland last Sunday with Anita in for Colback.
Rolando Aarons and Kevin Mbabu are also fit to play and maybe Kevin could be on the bench rather than Haidara?
If Rolando comes in it could be in place of 22 year-old Frenchman Florian Thauvin who is finding things tough in England.
What would you team be for tomorrow?
