There are reports today that Newcastle are making a move to bring Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni on an emergency loan deal for the game at Bournemouth on Saturday.
The experienced 36 year-old Argentine is currently being kept out of the first team by Welsh International Wayne Hennessey and maybe Newcastle are hoping their former manager Alan Pardew can do them a favor.
Julian Speroni – reports Newcastle after him
At the moment Newcastle have all three senior goalkeepers – Tim Krul, Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot – out injured and we assume the club have applied for permission to bring in a goalkeeper on an emergency loan for the game at Bournemouth.
Newcastle also have 18 year-old England U19 goalkeeper Freddie Woodman available and he played last night for the U21s in the 2-0 win at home to Aston Villa.
Speroni has been at Palace for 11 years since joining them from Dundee back in 2004 and he’s been out injured this season with a finger injury.
He has played over 500 games in his career and has 386 appearances in all competitions for Crystal Palace over the last eleven years.
If Newcastle can get Julian in he would be an excellent emergency loan signing for us.
Alan Pardew also has English goalkeeper Alex McCarthy available to him – but it’s not clear how long Newcastle would need Speroni for and there are reports that Pardew isn’t too willing to lose for Speroni for any length of time.
