Report Newcastle Striker To Join League One Club

There was news last week that 19 year-old Newcastle striker Ivan Toney would be allowed out on loan to get some first-team playing time and The Sun is reporting today they believe the destination will be League One club Barnsley – who are currently 3rd bottom with 14 points from their 16 games played.

19 year-old Ivan Toney – on loan to Barnsley?

There was news last week that Wolves wanted Toney on loan and that´s where Mike Williamson is currently on loan and the 6″center-back could even join them permanently as early as January.

Barnsley are on a very bad run of form at the moment and have lost their last seven league games and that accounts for their sudden drop down the league table and the last time they won was the 2-0 home win against Gillingham back on 26th September.

Toney arrived at Newcastle from Northampton Town last summer and his home town club are currently 5th top of League Two  so it´s only a slight step up in class – if the news in The Sun is accurate.

While he´s been on Tyneside he´s been impressive, and in eight games for the Newcastle U21 side he has scored five goals and has three assists.

Ivan has also played three times for the Newcastle first team.

But there´s nothing like the real thing and playing first team football and if he does join Barnsley we would expect it to be for only one month initially – to see how things go.

What do you think?

If FA rules allow it, I wouldn’t mind seeing Toney join Arma at Coventry, as one day they’re likely to play together for us. See if they can work well together. Can’t see the point in sending him to a losing team though, it could well prove detrimental to his development. Either way, he needs a loan move and Callum Roberts might also benefit from a month away on loan. We’ve actually got some very decent youngsters coming through that really augers well for the future.

So he is going to a club trying to get out of relegation!

Would have hoped for something similar to Coventry.

Bobbybee- I have an early start in the morning. Just wanted to say that I admire your positivity and outlook on life. From a young age I learnt that when faced with a setback ” to just get on with it”. This clearly is the mantra in your life. A positive mindset allows you to rationalise negative situations; also the perspective without undertaking mental gymnastics. Other people don’t walk in your shoes. They don’t know what makes you tick.
