Do You Want Newcastle To Sign Andy Carroll For £20M?

There must be another transfer window coming up – we know that because the national press are again talking about Newcastle United wanting to sign Andy Carroll – our former striker – after we sold him to Liverpool for £35M almost five years ago.

We’re sure West Ham would like to unload the striker, because he misses so many games because of injury, and he’s also said to be on huge wages at the London club.

If Andy could only stay fit he would still be awesome – as he was when he was with his home town club.

West Ham are also reported to want to make a profit on the £15M they paid Liverpool for the striker two years ago,

Let’s know if you think paying out £20M for Andy would be a good deal for Newcastle.

Much better player than he is given credit for, would be a very good signing if he proves his fitness this season.

20mil is a bit steep but surely we’d get him for less, they won’t have many takers above 10mil if they want rid.

Take him as backup to Mitrovic for 5m and 25k a week basic.
    No more.

In fact just no. Move on.

“Newcastle will bring in a central defender in January – the only question is – who will it be?”
Coloccini and Mbemba are first choice this season so why would Newcastle spend big money on a CB in January?

Try looking at our defensive record and goals against over this season and the last five seasons.

I don’t think Colo is the devil incarnate like some posters – but he just isn’t good or consistent enough.

It’s Lesh’s view that part of Lee Charnley’s job is to deny every dopey rumour that appears in the press 🙂

Has the club announced that they believe we should have two players for every position?
That’s fantastic news, because they used to say we couldn’t afford it.
As long as we can cover every position, kind of, from the bench, we will be fine.
Everyone else can be sold or placed on loan so we only have to pay their full wages in an emergency.

We could always buy him for 20mil and sell him on to Liverpool for 35.

    Sounds like good business.

Still, as Ian says, it’s good to know you’re here to bring people to task over their comments.

A reliance on stats can throw up anomolous conclusions especially with regard to just looking at the defenders (defending is ateam responsibility)

Look at this mini goals-against table for this season thus far :-

    Aston Villa 20 Bottom
    Leicester 20 3rd
    Chelsea 23 16th
    NUFC 22 17th
    Bournemouth 25 18th

Something I posted somewhat earlier 0n HBA – and I 100% stand by it.

Since his departure team spirit has increased and throughout the team there is a good work ethic. His return would risk damaging dressing room morale. We don’t want him causing trouble. We are well shot of him as he is not a team player. He’s not due yet another chance at yet again our expense.
I still remember the West Ham game last season when Carver and Cabaye had to speak to him about his lack of interest in the pre match warm up. Good riddance.

Ibiza- It’s unlike you to misquote ( remember I don’t do sarcasm! )

What I actually said to Jib was ” Good to see your still calling people to account” it’s my mantra, mate- too many young and old people fail to be accountable- it’s always somebody else’s fault. I fly solo and form my own opinions – in the real world I am widely seen as someone who tells it as I see it. I am not always right but have to have the emotional intelligence to admit it.

Ian…Hello there. I should have said that it wasn’t a direct quote. It’s why I didn’t use quotation marks, but is the idea not along the same lines?

In life all we can do is fly solo and form our own opinions, of course along the way we do take information etc from others. No one is without any influence, of course.

I too will call it as I see it, and when wrong, I don’t have a problem admitting so. I guess the issue is when others think you’re wrong and want you to admit it. Still, life goes on.

Would like to see Carroll back up here but definitely not for £20m, £5m MAX for a player who hasnt played a decent string of PL games in years…

To put the record straight Andy was never awesome for us.

He had the potential to be something special and he had the hopes and best feelings of every Newcastle fan urging him on to fulfill his potential but he never reached it with us.

Thus making his sale for 35 mill the best piece of business we have ever conducted in the premier league.

We dont need another injury riddled, self entitled, poor attituded donkey on the books for massive wages thank you and good night.

    No more on this please.

That 10% wanting Carroll back for £20m are mental!!! Even if he wasn’t injury prone and actually played, it would be a backwards move and limit our style of play as he’s less mobile then Mitrovic and we don’t need lumps up front.

I’d take him for 10 mill but he would be a replacement for mitro whenever he’s injured/suspended and would probably only start 10 games a season. Good to come off the bench when mitro isn’t playing well or when we desperately need a goal

I’d rather have Andy in the team than Cisse any day. When he is fit he is an excellent player. But he is so injury prone it’s just not worth risking big money on him. I’d love to have him back, it’d be great to have him home but right now the transfer fee and the wages don’t stack up so I can’t see it happening. For £7-8m and £45-55k a week he’d be well worth it.

If we keep both perez and mitrovic I’d take Carroll for 10 million max. His injuries make him nothing a like a 20 million pound player as much as I like him.

Personally I’d look for a quicker option.

Along with a seriously good centre back. A top quality defensive midfirld playmaker and a nippy winger.
