Newcastle Plan To Keep Top Youngster On Tyneside

9:18 am, Sunday, November 15th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 7 Comments

When you remember that Ayoze Perez was signed last year for the Development squad summer when we beat some big clubs to sign him from Tenerife for €2M – he will not be getting anywhere near big wages on Tyneside.

Yet he produced immediately for us last season with seven good goals in 39 appearances including the goal of the season at West Brom and this season he has three goals in 12 appearances for us and continues to improve.

Ayoze Perez – Newcastle are number one

His improvement is such that big clubs like Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal are said to be interested in signing him in January.

We have reported a few times this season that Newcastle need to give Perez a new deal and quickly in order to help keep him at the club.

And there is good news in the Chronicle today that Newcastle are planning to do just that – so we hope it’s before January when some offers are likely to come in for the impressive 22 year-old striker.

Tottenham tried to get him on the last day of the summer transfer window with the news that Newcastle turned down an offer as big as £15M for him – but we doubt it was really that big.

However, the good news is that Ayoze seems to just love it at Newcastle, so an improved five-year deal for the youngster is surely on the cards before the end of this year.

That will help Newcastle keep the striker not only in January but in the summer too.

And if we are to build a team that can win something in the (very) near future – we will have to keep stars like Ayoze at the club.

Here’s the great Perez goal at West Brom including the impressive build up play from Newcastle.

Comments welcome.

We must keep this kid, especially if he likes it here. Offer him a big fat salary and bonuses for performance.

The top 6 team building has already begun.

Now, make sure it’s this division, Steve 😉

We have to keep Ayo here, along with Mitrovic,Mbemba,Wijnaldum,Sissoko and build arround them. We need the these players this window Vestergaard, Xhaka, Redmond, Byram… if we want to build top side, we need young players with lot of potential….
    this team looks good
    janmaat,mbemba,vestergaard,mbabu
    redmond,wijnaldum,xhaka,sissoko
    ……perez……………mitrovic…………..
    ……
    def…colo,lascelles,dummet,haidara,byram
    mid…colback,tiote,anita,thauvin,de jong,aarons
    att…cisse,riviere,toney
a lot of options there, then in the summer, we will need to bring another striker, top gk and we will have top six squad

    reyantoon@4

Don’t know how to put up the face with a wry smile…because deep down I know you’re right.

But at least we’ll have him a bit longer than January…his worth will keep on growing and the Fat controller will never sell him before his worth has peaked.

…and no point building around Sissoko…he’ll be off at the drop of a hat

Those 4 up front are our rough diamond and we should build around them, while also strengthening there, to offer the competitiveness and alternative, depending on the opposition’s weaknesses. For example, a player like Sissoko must scare slow defenders half to death. Ayoze can wiggle through big CB’s, etc.
