Newcastle United 20 year-old prospect Kevin Mbabu has played for all the Swiss Youth sides through U19 level and was outstanding when he played against Chelsea and also in the first half at Manchester City when he helped set up the go-ahead goal by Aleksandar Mitrovic in the first half – before the team collapsed completely in the second half.
Kevin picked up a hamstring injury, but he’s fit again and was on the bench at Bournemouth and came on late in the game for his fourth first-team appearance of the season.
Kevin Mbabu in action for Newcastle this season
In fact given the great game the Swiss lad had against Chelsea at left back he may be the best left back we currently have at the club and we’d love to see him given another chance in the first team.
Mbabu is also keen to get back in the first team:
“Maybe I will be on the bench in the next few weeks,” “But I am working hard every day.”
“I want to show the manager what I can do and I want a chance. I’m ready.”
Local lad Paul Dummett has returned to the team after taking some time to recover from his own hamstring injury – and currently he is McClaren’s first choice at left back.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the January transfer window and then Steve McClaren will have a decision to make on Kevin Mbabu – and that is whether to loan him out so he can get some first team games.
Kevin shocked a lot of fans by his outstanding play this season where he was good going forward and also in defending.
When he arrived at Newcastle almost three years ago as a 17 year-old he was very highly regarded in Europe and specifically wanted to join Newcastle with other top clubs also after him.
He’s looked a very good player in the first team for us and hopefully Kevin will get another chance soon – very soon.

Last time I played that game was a couple of seasons ago and Joe Kinnear was trying to sell Tiote behind my back while also blocking moves for some players I wanted to buy…..
Bloody realistic !!

Sissoko actually tackled someone!!
It was from behind like , and therefore a foul , but he tried.

Comment #47I missed something out from my “TwentyYears On” scenario.
“McClaren hails 53 year-old Colocinni as signing of the season.
“Meanwhile the Newcastle Sports Direct United and Hotels Ltd blog has only one burning topic.
“Were we not right about Pardew, like?
“Would we not have him back…. in a heartbeat?
Even though he no longer has one?

Comment #48Seriously I know France were probably a bit subdued but I thought England played pretty well – even sicker now we didn’t get Alli when we had the chance.

Comment #49The pensionable Colo could be grafted onto a cutting edge exoskeletal frame in order to revive this tired legs. A glitch in the motor software inexplicably turns his body 180 degrees when presented with a shot at goal to defend….

Comment #50Thought hba played well actually. Created most of the few bits of decent play. I don’t think he was subbed for any other reason than to mix things up.

Yup, Charnley’s should have a lot to answer for for no doubt pi$$ing about over a few quid when supposedly having Alli all but signed.
He deserves to have his backside kicked – out of the door.
