Young Newcastle Star Still Has Lots To Learn

Paul Simpson talked about everything Newcastle when he was on BBC Newcastle’s Total Sport earlier this week and his comments included talking about our new striker 21 year-old Aleksandar Mitrovic who always seems to be close to some controversy but has made a reasonable start to his career at Newcastle and is currently preferred to Newcastle’s number 9 striker – Papiss Cisse.

Paul talked about Papiss Cisse still having a future at Newcastle, but we’ll see about that and the Senegal striker could be one of a number of current Newcastle players who will leave the club either in January or next summer.

Aleksandar Mitrovic – Newcastle’s top striker

One of the things Paul said is that they will build that attack around young Mitrovic and the assistant manager points out one of Aleksandar’s most positive attributes – his work rate – and he runs himself into the ground for the Newcastle side.

This is what Paul said about the £13M signing from Anderlecht:

“We’ve gone with Mitro over the last run of games and I think we’re trying to develop the team with Mitro in it because he’s got a fantastic work ethic.”

“He’s still got lots of things in his game that he needs to improve on but he’s got the sort of attitude that he wants to improve and wants to work on them.”

Mitrovic could easily become a top player for Newcastle and we hope to see more goals from the youngster once he gets fully used to the Premier League – which takes time.

Aleksandar has scored two goals in his 11 appearances so far for Newcastle – but we do expect a lot more goals from the 21 year-old.

I think we need to get Thauvin settled in and supplying the crosses he was bought for. Then we will start to see the best of Mitrovic. He has missed a few chances you would expect a top striker to put away, but strikers work when their confidence is high and the lack of real service is a problem. Providing i can get there I’m looking forward to Saturday’s game because we definitely raise our game against better teams – and Leicester are one of this seasons better sides. It will be interesting to see how they play if Vardy is ruled out. Any chances we do get, we need to take them because Leicester tend to take theirs.

    Jail for Ashley
Only way we can sign new better players is to get rid of some.

Remember, the goal is to finish top 8 and win something this season.

We already did the happy to stay up last year.

And good point by Mister Tuff about the story being untrue.

I believe the target of winning a trophy is set within the tenure of Macca’s contract. Hence the three window target of assembling a team to challenge. Getting rid of the deadwood is going to be the biggest challenge, because they’re on good money and unlikely to match it anywhere else. A good few contracts run out next summer and unlikely to be renewed. Ashley, like any other owner, is unlikely to allow players on 30k a week to sit out their contract at home. Until those contracts run out, we can only work on a one out, one in basis. The problems of buying shyte for years coming back to haunt us.
