The Newcastle team has just been announced the team for the important game today and as expected it’s unchanged from the side that won 1-0 at Bournemouth last time out.
Jamie Vardy has presumably passed his fitness test and he will start the game against Newcastle today and try to equal Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in ten successive PL games.
It’s up to our defense to keep him from scoring and maybe get our third clean sheet on the trot.
Teams:
Newcastle (4-4-2): Rob Elliot; Daryl Janmaat, Chancel Mbemba, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Paul Dummett; Moussa Sissoko, Cheick Tiote, Vurnon Anita, Georginio Wijnaldum; Ayoze Perez, Aleksandar Mitrovic
Substitutes: Freddie Woodman, Jamie Sterry, Jamaal Lascelles, Siem de Jong, Yoan Gouffran, Florian Thauvin, Papiss Cisse
Leicester (4-4-2): Kasper Schmeichel; Danny Simpson, Robert Huth, Wes Morgan (c), Christian Fuchs; Riyad Mahrez, N’Golo Kanté, Danny Drinkwater, Marc Albrighton; Leonardo Ulloa, Jamie Vardy
Substitutes: Mark Schwarzer Ritchie De Laet, Andy King, Gokhan Inler, Jeff Schlupp, Nathan Dyer, Shinji Okazaki
It’s good to see fullback Jamie Sterry on the subs bench and it looks like he’s come in for Kevin Mbabu – who may be out injured?
Jamie turns 20 years old today.
This is what Steve McClaren has said about Leicester before the game:
“The Premier League is full of top strikers and quick players like Jamie Vardy and like any other game, we just have to be ready.”
“Honestly, we hope he won’t get to play tomorrow but if he does, he does and it’s the opponent we have to play against and Leicester have a lot of quality throughout the team, not just Vardy.”
“Mahrez, Albrighton and Drinkwater are all very good players in midfield who have been fantastic this season. They’re very well set up and strong defensively and that’s why they are one point off the top of the table.”
“Everyone is always looking at the PL level, especially now,” “We’re always aware of these non league players and there are always players around who develop late.”
“I came across Vardy at Derby and to come from non-league and keep going in the Premier League just shows that it can be done.”
“For all players at whatever level, they should never give up, never stop trying or believing because with hard work and the right breaks, you can make it, and Jamie Vardy is a perfect example.”
Almost half our fans think we can win this game and a third think we will lose it.

Comment #323How about McLaren and Carver as co head coaches? We could call them McCarver. I think that’s the answer going forward. I’ll just have a chat with Mike and set it up.

Comment #325James…If, and I don’t think it’s likely anytime soon, Mcclaren were to be replaced, I’d imagine Moyes would be getting one of the first calls.
The idea fills one with joy.
Still – I can’t see Ashley, I mean Penfold (who definitely calls the shots), getting rid of Mcclaren anytime soon. There would have to be an admission that something is wrong first.
Jail for Ashley

Never been one to worry abou who could come in when things are rock bottom but with this clown running the club I would be genuinely afraid of who they’d hire, Moyes wouldn’t touch us with a barge pool.

Comment #328I don’t think mcclaren is a dinosaur. I think he is trying to get us playing good football and build for the future unlike carver/Pardew, just not sure he’s got the ability to execute it, or got the right players to do it
