RMC Sport are reporting that Newcastle are interested in Bordeaux attacking midfielder Wahbi Khazri and that the Tyneside club are interested in signing him in the upcoming January transfer window.
We were first linked with this player just a few days ago when the local papers reported Chief Scout Graham Carr had been watching the Tunisian International.
Wahbi Khazri – Newcastle interested
Wahbi so far has 13 caps and six International goals for Tunisia after he played one game for the French U21 side before choosing to play for Tunisia at International level.
He made his debut for them two years ago when he was selected in the squad for the African Cup of Nations.
This season he has scored four goals in 12 Ligue One games and also one goal in seven appearances in the Europa League.
Since he joined Bordeaux seventeen months ago he has made 53 appearances for the club with 14 goals and 12 assists.
And in his five seasons at Bastia he played 148 games with 31 goals and 25 assists.
Newcastle are dangerously placed in the Premier League after Sunderland´s 1-0 win at Crystal Palace tonight when Jermain Defoe scored the winner after 80 minutes after it looked like the game was heading for a draw.
The win boosted Sunderland´s points total this season by 50%.
So Crystal Palace became the only team Sunderland have beaten this season apart from Newcastle – and they have beaten us six times in a row.
Sunderland won and Bournemouth drew on Saturday so both gained on Newcastle who were walloped 3-0 by :Lecieetr at St. James’Park.
Both Bournemouth and Sunderland are are just one point behind Newcastle who remain in 4th bottom place.
That puts pressure on our players and significant pressure on head coach Steve McClaren and they have to start producing results soon otherwise we could sink even further down the league table.
It could well be that Wahbi Khazri is one of our targets this January – as it looks like our squad is simply not good enough and will need to be significantly strengthened in January.

You fancy an easy win against King Percy and dreamboat? You couldn’t make it up. When have we had an easy win anywhere never mind in London? Bearing in mind we’re shit.
