There are reports today that Newcastle are very keen to get Andros Townsend to the club in January and it seems that Newcastle have already been in negotiations for the player and if he comes in on loan in January he has almost been guaranteed a first team starting place.
There are also reports today – once again – that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is very keen to get Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez to White Hart Lane.
Ayoze Perez – keep him
So we suppose it would only take somebody to put two and two together (and get five) to suggest there could be a swap deal for Townsend – with Ayoze Perez going the other way – but that would be a very poor deal for Newcastle.
On the other hand, it wouldn´t surprise us if Tottenham push for a deal like that – since Townsend has no future at White Hart Lane and it would be a coup if the England International could be used to get Ayoze Perez to the north London club.
Yes, we need players like Andros Townsend at the club in January as a player who could immediately produce for the club given his experience already in the Premier League.
Townsend will also be motivated to do well in the second half of the season so he can make the England squad for the Euro 2016 Championships in France next summer – so that could be another advantage for the Magpies.
But it would be a bad deal for Newcastle to lose Perez to get Townsend in.
Newcastle shouldn´t even be thinking of doing that in January.
What do you think?
