Jack Colback is back in training and according to Steve McClaren during his press conference yesterday the local lad has had three days of training and Steve said he was in contention for the game today at Selhurst Park.
With this game being so important and Jack being one of our most consistent players it wouldn´t surprise us if Jack starts the game today and partners Vurnon Anita in defensive midfield.
Jack Colback – last time out at Sunderland
We thought it would be a real shock if that happened yesterday, but the more we have thought about it – it could be the way to go with the other choice being to play Yoan Gouffran as a holding midfielder.
Siem de Jong could also play there, but he´s more of an attacking player.
So we could be in for a shock today with Jack starting the game and it will depend on how Jack has looked in training and how he feels about coming straight back into the side.
He has to be fully fit and he cannot be risked if he is not 100% physically fit for this game.
But we will need somebody to keep a check on Yohan Cabaye, who would just love to do well against his former club – and we are once again struggling in the Premier League.
Newcastle are without the experienced Cheick Tiote for just this one game with his groin strain, so the more we think about it the more it looks like Jack will start today.
The other alternative is to give Yoan the start and be prepared to bring on Jack Colback if Yoan cannot get the job done.
What do you think?

Comment #2Time for De Jong to be given the chance to play and impose some quality distribution in midfield and to nullify Cabaye. With two of their strikers missing due to injury we need to take the game to them and let Perez and Mitro dictate that it’s ours to win

Comment #3Is nobody else awake yet ? It’s getting lonely on here this morning !
Newcastle boss Steve McClaren says he will stand by his 33-year-old captain Fabricio Coloccini, despite a training ground clash this week. (Newcastle Chronicle)
Well that’s marvellous loyalty.
Commendable.

Meanwhile the major shareholder is staying in his cozy office on dry land in the mistaken belief that his super ship is unsinkable.
“Gin and tonic Mr. Ashley ?”
“Would you like ice with that ?”

Comment #4There shouldn’t be any players playing in DM if we are 4-4-2 again. I don’t know why this keeps being brought up.
If gouffran plays today in a 4-4-2, he will be a CM, unlike the city game. It is a different position.

Morning lochinvar, It will be interesting to see what team take the field against CP today, and if there are any new faces what kind of performance they put in.
It would seem that all of their armour has been stripped away this week and they have been laid bare before the press, so maybe a little shame will be the key to them playing with some passion, and looking to win the game.
Who knows though, this is Newcastle, the lucky dip club, you never know what you will get to the bags been opened, but then your stuck with it.

It seems all these steange supporters are in the minority of condemning our bizarre ownership, only you seem to be in the majority.
From previous.
So Wijnaldum has come out and said that the manager has had to explain he is not mad, maybe it was lost in translation and he meant he wasn’t crazy, one manager under Ashley has had a heart attack another about to be sectioned !
