Pardew Knew Exactly How To Smash Newcastle

9:15 am, Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 5 Comments

Crystal Palace first-team coach John Salako has revealed how Alan Pardew went about beating Newcastle on Saturday via his team talk and preparation in the dressing room before the players went out to play against his former club.

And what he said to them should be damning for Newcastle United, Steve McClaren, the coaching staff  and the players.

Alan Pardew after the game Saturday
One of the best wins in his career

Even after starting the game fairly well and going ahead with a goal from Papiss Cisse we immediately collapsed and were 2-1 down within seven minutes and were finally hammered 5-1 in what was another disgraceful display by our players,

Here what John Salako said on talkSPORT:

“What we said in the dressing room was ‘listen, let’s not let this side get up. Knock the spirit out of them and then they will go’.”

“I feel for Steve McClaren, you could see him shaking his head afterwards – the frustration; but the team really did let themselves down.”

“When they went up they were full of confidence and we still had a belief. To equalise quite quickly knocked the stuffing out of them and you could just see their heads going down. There was no belief.”

“It was a complete contrast to Monday. Alan Pardew said it, we hate playing against Sam Allardyce because they’re dogged.”

“They came with that back five, they’d been working on it, they were just going to frustrate us, make it difficult, keep the crowd quiet.”

“And Newcastle didn’t do that. They didn’t earn the right to win that game and in the end they let us walk all over them.”

“Steve’s got a tough job – he’s got Liverpool and then Spurs and he’s got to galvanise that squad. It’s all about the spirit, they’ve got to go dogged.”

“They’ve got to stop conceding. Three at home against Leicester, you need to shore up the defence and stop them scoring and maybe get a 0-0 or nick one.

“Once you get a win you can build on that.”

It’s almost like Salako is feeling sorry for us – we’re so bad at the moment.

And the type of manager we need right now to get us out of this mess – is a guy like big Sam.

He will get the job done at the Black Cats and that’s what he’s an expert at – getting clubs out of trouble.

He certainly doesn’t play great attacking football which has got him in trouble in the past –  but he’s still worth his weight in gold to Sunderland.

And their fans know it.

Steve McClaren – a typical pose
What the hell is going on?

And McClaren cannot just keep shaking his head and putting his head in his hands – which he does far too often on the sideline.

It’s his job to get the best out of the players and if he cannot do that then there’s no alternative but to bring somebody in who can do that.

It’s too easy just to blame the players all the time – what are the coaches doing with them during the week?

We are not looking forward to the next two games – can you imagine how fast and furious Liverpool are going to start the game on Sunday?

It could be all over in the first 25 minutes if we play like we have over the last two games.

The last team we want to play right now is a team coached by Jurgen Klopp – but that’s what’s going to happen on Sunday.

🙁 🙁 🙁

Shows how bad we have become as CP’s goal difference and goals scored v everyone one else is as appalling as it used to be when AP was here

Was Pardew managing under orders here as well? Because I cant remember too many times that we were ruthless under him like Palace were against us !!! We would always sit back against teams that were there for the taking !!
But to be fair his team totally smashed our frail bunch although when 2 of your back 4 turn your back when shots are flying in you dont really have a chance !!

On this whole Mclaren / Colo extension did Colo not get his extension last year like Elliot but the club waited till the end of the season to announce it ? Meaning Mclaren had no choice at all ? Sure I read that somewhere (cant remember where though)

He new because he created a team mentality that is weak, a team full of good players on paper, but turned them into a bunch of whimps

    A back five.
That could be an idea. You would expect a good manager to come up with something.
But, SM as AS said does not have a plan.
The players look lost. They don’t believe in what they are being asked to do.

Salako got it spot on, all a team needs to do is get in the Newcastle players and they will fall apart.

Wit regards to Lee Charnley Bunga Party’s comment about Colo’s new contract, as I understand it, McClaren wanted two centre haves but was told only one would be bought so Colo was to be given an extension and the captaincy.
