Moussa Sissoko has had to put up with some withering criticism form fans this season as his form has been up and down.
In some games he’s looked good and that was the case on Sunday when he brilliantly set up the second goal for Gini Wijnaldum in stoppage time to make the score look a healthy 2-0 against Liverpool.
Moussa Sissoko challenges Jordan Ibe last Sunday
This is what Moussa has said in the Chronicle:
“When we win the fans sing my name. If we lose or play badly, they are disappointed with me.”
“Every game I try to do my very best. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But I give everything I have.”
“I hope this win gives us more confidence for the future.” “We have enjoyed the win over Liverpool this week but we are now preparing for the massive game with Tottenham.”
Moussa is at his best when he’s attacking down that right wing, but last Sunday he tracked back well too and in fact won the ball before the goal in stoppage time.
He’s definitely a good player but certainly he could improve on his defensive play and sometimes he seems not interested – especially when things are not going Newcastle’s way.
Since joining us almost three years ago from Toulouse he’s played 109 games for Newcastle with 11 goals and 16 assists.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.
Can you help 3 year-old Kian?
On 31st October 2013 then 18 month old Kian from Prudhoe was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma cancer – and it was high risk stage 4 plus MYCN – which is the most aggressive form of this rare cancer.
The parents were told he had a 50/50 chance of survival during treatment and if successful an 80% chance of a relapse, and while the initial treatment seemed to be successful a relapse has taken place.
Advanced treatment for Kian is only available in Germany or the USA and the cost of treatment is £550K.
His parents are trying desperately to raise the money after an agonizing last couple of years – please take a look on this web-site where there is a lot more information – and see if you can help out.
Many thanks.

Comment #6He (Sissoko) would give us so much more if he could play in a three man midfield. The Anita / Colback partnership in a 4-4-2 just doesn’t work!

Comment #7You can all play fantasy football manager as much as you like and if it entertains you great.
However, SM must play the same team as last week.
Winners and doers must be rewarded.
That includes Dummet.
Taco-your centre midfield would not work. Because Wini is not good there.

Comment #9@Posada: You’re saying that Gini, the central midfielder, does not play well in central midfield?
I’ve heard it all now.

Comment #13Neither Sissoko or Gini have the assets you need to be a centre midfield player.
I don’t care what they have done elsewhere. SM must agree as he generally does not play them there.

completely disagree. Dummet has been good for one out of 5 games out of LB. . just because he has one good game, its crazy to think he can duplicate it the next week. We should be sticking with our best players. Same with Cisse. it was great to see him actually trying and not trying to collect offsides penalties, but it would be foolish to think that is the norm for him after seeing his body of work.
In addition, keep in mind the goals came with out SDJ and with Gouf. surely you cant suggest that we gouf should be playing?

Comment #15In an interview with Miles Starforth of the shieldsgazette just after the USA tour
“The 24-year-old – who captained PSV to the Eredivisie title last season – has been played behind a lone striker by McClaren, and he feels the No 10 role is his best position.
“That’s my natural position,” said Wijnaldum. “In Holland I have had two years as a winger, but that’s not my best position.”
“If you want to use my qualities the best, then I must play in the midfield in a position where I can make goals because that’s a quality of mine.”

The performance against C.Palace and the two previous games was dreadful. No effort, no commitment.
Against liverpool for whatever reason we had the effort the running, the tackles. We were for the first time in months competing at the level that at least gives you a chance. We were winning the 50/50s. Normally we don’t.
You must use that. You draw a line in the sand and you make it clear that is whats required. The people who have done it keep the shirt. The others in the squad must match it if they want to be considered.

Would so love this guy, been on about him for years. Massive coup if Swansea get him.

As has often been mooted, jeff / Jib appears to lack the people skills to interact harmoniously with others. This is common with many mal adjusted sociopaths.
Hard to know what to do for the best for someone who I suspect is on the spectrum and will have a lifetime of personal issues to contend with, such as alcoholism etc.
This to be pitied individual is looking for validation to try and make himself feel important and sadly would not seem to possess the intellectual wherewithall to do that constructively, apart from his signature constantly abusing and insulting others which he possibly views as point scoring. It’s classic behaviour .
Jeff calling people t-ssers, now that really is irony. But there for the grace of god go we.

Comment #30Gini played in central mid (no.8 role) whenever I saw PSV.
He’s bound to say he prefers no.10. Every centre mid ever does, its less tracking back, more based on shooting and creating and generally comes with more prestige and glory. generally its the position every kid outside of england (where its probs no9) dreams of starring. It’s also in most countries the number given to the best player.
That said despite his goals hes still not dominating games yet in PL like he did in holland. Id keep him wide too for now.

Don’t think him and ashley could ever coexist for long as they are polar opposites in integrity.

Comment #38Mackems have been shite for years, do just enough to keep their heads above water, somehow; well not somehow, thanks to us actually. How any manager hasn’t come in to that club and got rid of their entire defence and Clattermole over the last 3/4 seasons is beyond me. Brown and O’Shea have stolen a PL career off the back of brilliant management from Fergy, who elevated them beyond their abilities and enhanced their rep, which they’ve survived on since.

That must have been a time to remember, I think in Mashleys cynical mind he would have known hanging out Hoots to dry would have seen the fans turn on himself rather than Hoots, where as Pardew was happy to take the flak in return for silver.
