Incredible Newcastle Comeback – Brilliant Late Perez Goal Wins It

6:16 pm, Sunday, December 13th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 16 Comments

In what was an incredible last 15 minutes for Newcastle after both Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic had come on for Siem de Jong and Papiss Cisse Newcastle came back from the dead with two goals to win the game after we had gone down 1-0 just before half time when we gave away a sloppy goal to Eric Dier from a corner.

And it looked in the first 25 minutes of the second half that we didn´t have much of a chance of coming back in this game but Rob Elliot again pout in some good saves to keep the score down to 1-0 – and with that we were always in with a chance.

This is Spurs first defeat since the opening day on August 8th against the Red Devils.

Incredible.

Newcastel cleebrate first goal Spurs

And two minutes after Mitrovic came on he scored as Coloccini headed a corner back over from the far post and Mbemba headed the ball forward and Mitrovic smashed the ball home almost on the goal line  to make it 1-1.

That was Mitro´s third Premier League goal of the season and he scored it after being on less than two minutes..

With just 15 minutes to go Newcastle were coming at Spurs hard for the 3 points and we seemed to come to life with the goal and had a few chances to score a second.

And then would you believe it, but with four minutes of stoppage time it looked like it would end with a good 1-1 draw for Newcastle – but then Perez with about 95 seconds to go in the game somehow from the bye line smashed the ball into the back of the net – an incredible goal from the young Spaniard.

And the final whistle was blown as we had won the game 2-1 and the Spurs crowd were stunned into silence –  but not the Newcastle fans – and that was our first two wins in a row this year.

And that was the third time in a row that we have won this fixture.

All credit again to our goalkeeper who made the saves to keep the score down to 1-0 and even before Spurs scored their goals Rob made two great saves from Lamela.

It was an incredible win for Newcastle United today and a brilliant goal from Ayoze Perez and that´s a massive 3 points for the Magpies.

Another incredible result for Newcastle but until the two young guns Mitrovic and Perez came on all looked lost today.

Incredible result and a fantastic comeback when all seemed lost.

We´ll be back with a full report later – once I get find those blood pressure pills.

🙂

Maybe Elliot or janmaat MoM? Everyone else was too inconsistent or didn’t play long enough.

Its funny we win and it looks like only few are happy and instead of talking about the amazing result we just had, we are bashing the hierarchy. I for one saw a Newcastle Team that didn’t give up which is something we have not done for over a year, one down and come back and win. Hats of to the lads for the efforts to try and make our season better. Yes we still need to bring in some players in Jan and hopefully although we just one two games in a row this still happens. Howay the Toon!!!

Better performance. However, where is our attacking midfielder? When we broke with Sissoko who pulled the ball back but although Mitrovic and Perez were in the box, there was no one backing up just outside the box.

I’ll take the 3 points! Next up Villa, another must win match.

Elliot – Glad we have him.
Dummett – Completely shut Lamela out this game.
Colo – Aside from that goal we lose he did very well
    Mbemba – The best!!
    Janmatt – Solid defence work.
Anita – Hardest worker in this match. 2nd MOM for me.
Colback – Better but still not good enough. Should give others a chance on first eleven.(I wanna try Mbabu there)
Gini – As good as ever. Class!!
Sissoko – A bit understandard passing today but did well on holding the ball for us.
SDJ – Not sure about him. Feel like he got something but what was it?? Time will tell..
Cisse – Shearer was dead right about him. Time for new striker..
Perez – I really love to see this lad playing.
Mitrovic – MOM. Give him no.9!!

HWTL, Great work and great result!!
