’twas between Elliott and Anita for me but but for Elliott’s crucial saves, we would’ve been hammered.

  • 2 lesh // Dec 13, 2015 at 8:43 PM

    * for Man of the Match I should’ve said

  • 3 angelswithdirtyfaces // Dec 13, 2015 at 8:44 PM

I had my doubts about Elliot but he’s been inspirational and risen to the opportunity big time.

Howay Ed, forgot how frustrating it was to hold a debate on here, with you constantly reposting and braking the flow……

  • 5 goommy // Dec 13, 2015 at 8:46 PM

Hard to choose between Elliot and Anita. But I give MOM for Mitrovic with that one goal and on assist 😀

  • 6 clinath@ed // Dec 13, 2015 at 8:48 PM

Elliot appears to be a stronger personality in the back 5 than Krul. Perhaps he is the difference…?

  • 7 Jail for Ashley // Dec 13, 2015 at 8:52 PM have got the Spurs goal down as Rob Elliott blunder for palming it away from Anita, he would have looked pretty daft if he’d just left it and Anita missed it, maybe little Vurn never shouted loud enough, one of them rather than an error.

  • 8 Wowhatawhopper // Dec 13, 2015 at 8:56 PM

Anita was outstanding today, does the simple things correct! Elliot had a good game but does seem a bit unfit and his distribution hasn’t been as good as of late!!

  • 10 Bambams // Dec 13, 2015 at 8:57 PM

I thought both Janmaat and Mbemba were reading the game well, Janmaat sometimes switches off but i thought they did well. I really like Mbemba and alongside the ‘NEXT’ CB i think we will improve massively, Colo was ok but i do blame him for not getting tighter to Dier.

Well happy, even happier than i was last week !!!

Please do not waste this momentum against Villa

  • 11 Jail for Ashley // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:00 PM

Never read the second bit, a few dodgy kicks under pressure but much better than Kruls and what do you mean by unfit, fat ?

  • 12 Jib // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:09 PM

Just seen it on SSN and it looks like Anita had it covered and Elliott palmed it past him into his own net !!!!

  • 13 eddyinpoole // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:15 PM

one thing i must comment on is ,will all the elliot doubters now apologise for their comments putting the lad down.i have never seen him let us down and he is very vocal with the defenders, getting them organised which collo should do.keep him fit and he will win us points when perhaps we did not deserve them.well done rob elliot.onwards and upwards……….

  • 14 NezzaNUFC // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:24 PM

    Elliot then Anita for me.

Colo nearly cost us today and Cisse needs to leave, did you’s see the relief on Sissoko face when Cisse got subbed? I think it could of been the time when Sissoko was on the wing looking for an attacker but the only player there was Wijnaldum whilst Cisse was on the half way line lol

Also guys doesn’t this match seem familiar? jog your memory back last season against Chelsea.

Yep that’s right we stopped there losing streak lol

  • 15 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:27 PM

A few of my Spurs mates were getting cheeky on Facebook about how Kane was going to score a hat trick on the way to a 4 nil win etc etc

Told him the Toon call it 3 point Lane for a reason !!

What I will say is against Villa we need to start with De Jong and Perez together with Mitrovic ahead of them Colback should probably be the one to drop out as we dont need 2 defensive midfielders against Villa !!

The players look fitter in the last few games could it be finally we are recovering from the shambles of a pre season that Carver organised ?

Also we are looking a solid unit at the back Janmaat is not getting caught out and Anita is playing like a demon at the moment getting stuck in

  • 16 mindshaft // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:29 PM

Elliot had a good game and kept us in a position that we could get come back from – he is well lardy but agile enough … he’s doing well this season and as someone else has mentioned does a lot of shouting at back four
Colo had a decent game despite his error in not tracking Dier for the goal
Anita ran Elliot a close second for motm and he’s really stepped up to the plate last couple of games
Look a whole different team to the one that collapsed against Palace and Leicester

  • 17 NezzaNUFC // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:30 PM

Saturday 6th December we won Chelsea 2-1 and stopped there winning streak on the 15th game lol

  • 18 NezzaNUFC // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:33 PM

I think we need to keep Cisse and SDJ on for Villa mate, when Perez and Mitro came on the Spurs defenders looked tired and even Ali stepped into DM to give them a hand.

Rocky vs Creed comes to mind and McClaren pulled it off.

  • 19 Jail for Ashley // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:35 PM

It looks like that’s what happened because that is what happened, only I don’t think it was the keepers fault, he can’t watch the ball and know where very defender is behind him, if anything Anita should have screamed at him to leave it.

  • 20 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:41 PM

Oh was never implying De Jong to come out the team!! Villa will park the bus so we need as many players to unlock the door his through balls for Perez and Cisse/Mitrovic could be crucial because I think if we can get an early goal we can smash them !!

I want them relegated after the way they acted when they put us down its time for some pay back !!

  • 21 eddyinpoole // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:44 PM

for villa id start with mitro as cisse offers very little.collo was at fault again today.drop him and play dummet with mbabu at left back.swap dejong for perez second half, three points no prob.onwards and upwards………

  • 22 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:49 PM

Also love the Rocky reference but we should be more like Ivan Drago pounding Creed next weekend !!

  • 23 Obertans_on_roids // Dec 13, 2015 at 9:53 PM

It says a lot for Mitrovic the fact that his number was hanging off his shirt at the end.!

Of course made easier by Ashleys cut backs on the pritt stick.

  • 24 JamesToon // Dec 13, 2015 at 10:03 PM

Have to be wary or traore when we play villa he looked threatening when he came on today

  • 25 Jib // Dec 13, 2015 at 10:11 PM

Nice to see Ashleys pledge to the fans being fulfilled , it’s taken time but he has kept the faith with the right people for the task.
    Onward and upward.

  • 26 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Dec 13, 2015 at 10:14 PM

See I think the Villa game could be a tricky one they have pace on the counter attack and also Gestede who is excellent in the air it would just be typical Newcastle for us to get caught out by a cross onto the big mans head !

An early goal though for us will be the end for them I feel we need to press them straight from kick off and not let them into the game

  • 27 AncientC // Dec 13, 2015 at 10:28 PM

Delli Alli is a real unlikable piece of work, what was with him trying to trip Mbemba when Chancel was running full sprint towards the hoardings – downright malicious and very dangerous. Nasty pug-nosed twerp.

Mitro wasn’t letting him get away with it lol.

  • 28 Bambams // Dec 13, 2015 at 10:28 PM

Cisse looks as though he has forgotten how to play football.
He got in the way initially when Wini scored his first against Liverpool. ….Today he is in the way of what looked on target shot by SDJ ( Nice to see sky never showed it at half time )
He just runs about smiling all the time.
I loved the bloke a couple of years ago but he is a luxury that we cannot carry.
I would love to see SDJ sitting with Mitro and Perez up front

  • 29 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Dec 13, 2015 at 10:33 PM

Yeah I would love to see those 3 together with Wijnaldum and Sissoko either side I reckon that would tear apart most teams outside the top 8

Yeah I noticed Spurs were trying to rough us up Walker got his just deserts with Dummett smashing him remember a few seasons ago he got away with a shocking tackle on Gouffran

  • 30 Jib // Dec 13, 2015 at 10:51 PM

    ‘ello Jail me owld mucker

  • 31 lesh // Dec 13, 2015 at 10:53 PM

Yup, Alli is a bit of a worky ticket and now we know why we didn’t sign him in the summer. Ashley doesn’t do troublesome!

Well, maybe it could’ve been Charnley’s incompetence.

Speaking if whom, when Mitro scored, Ashley jumped out of his seat cheering. He grabbed Charnley who then started to cheer the goal. What a phart he is.

  • 32 Jib // Dec 13, 2015 at 10:58 PM

Lesh it was Ayoze’s winner .
Would you like to pass an observation on his overcoat as well you tool.

  • 33 Blofal // Dec 13, 2015 at 10:59 PM

Playing SJD in the same team as Mitro and Perez would need a change of formation. I don’t see McClaren doing that.

Given that Villa will park the bus I think Mitrovic might start. We will need his physical presence but the problem is Cisse and SDJ don’t make an impact when playing off the bench. Mitrovic and Perez do. That has been the difference the last two games.

To be honest I would leave it as it is but Villa parking the bus will require a whole new plan. We have to be careful not to over commit and let them catch us on the counter.

  • 34 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Dec 13, 2015 at 11:03 PM

Loved Klopps interview on Match of the Day there saying no more long ball teams shall be allowed to get points cant be allowed to happen ha ha
Welcome to playing Pulis ! Wait till you play Sunderland !!

  • 35 Belfast // Dec 13, 2015 at 11:10 PM

Some of the Liverpool players looked embarrassed doing that little stunt at the end. Check out Benteke Haha

  • 36 Belfast // Dec 13, 2015 at 11:12 PM

Benteke wasn’t feeling it at all

  • 37 optimistic prime // Dec 13, 2015 at 11:21 PM

We have to aproach the villa game exactly the same as the last two.

I think they’ll fancy there chances. We can’t underestimate anybody, it’s a massive game for them and we’ll need to prove we want it more.

    IMO it’s a must win.
