Newcastle Likely To Unload These Two Players In January

3:10 pm, Monday, December 14th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 12 Comments

With Newcastle very likely to bring in new players next month to improve our squad it’s likely that some of our fringe players will be allowed to leave.

One of these could be Sylvain Marveaux who has been at Newcastle over four years now and has never really made it at the club.

Sylvain was signed as a free agent in the summer of 2011 on a five year contract and could be sold for a nominal fee next month.

Manu Riviere – striker could leave next month

However one player who could also be leaving is striker Emmanuel Riviere who has been out injured for a while this season with a knee injury and had a tough time of it last season in his first term at Newcastle.

He was signed at the same time as Remy Cabella who is on loan at Marseille and will be signed permanently but them next month for around £6M.

We were surprised that Cabella wasn’t given another season to succeed on Tyneside and therefore it’s likely that Newcastle will allow Manu to leave with at least one new striker coming into the club in January.

The news in the French press is that Lille are interested in the striker but that his wages will be a problem.

There’s a possibility that we could send him out on loan next month because with Mitrovic, Cisse, Perez and de Jong on board and another striker very likely to come in – there will not be many opportunities for Riviere in the first team.

Other players who could be leaving us next month include Shane Ferguson, Yoan Gouffran and Mike Williamson and the club loosens up on the wage bill to allow new players to come in.

We also have to leave some room in the 25 players we nominated for the Premier League earlier this season.

Comments welcome.

Why is it very likely a striker will come in? It’s very likely Cisse will leave I imagine but not sure how likely it is he will be replaced

U said u will be amazed if we sign him. That means he is very good.Which in turn means he’s better than Haidara and an upgrade.

We still need a squad mate just look at Janmaat he has no real back up or competition for his place. Janmaat could score 6 OGs and still start the next game

Haidaras out now and we have a uncomfortable CB currently covering. I don’t think it makes sense to ignore the squad in favour of signing him, by all means sign him but don’t get rid of Haidara

The Guardian gave man of the match for Sissoko( refreshing). Most others gave it to Elliot.
I gave it to Elliott too!!

The Turkish media are talking about Cissé for the Summer. That should work out well with Armstrong and Toney both needing at least another half a season more in lower divisions.
I’ve a feeling that once Manu Riviere is in full training he will impress the coaches.

WW…well let’s hope Haidara come good. But he so far was inconsistent and become injury prone

    Can Willems not replace Santon?

is mbabu not an obvious back up for janmatt. probably a more disciplined, quicker defender too.

I can’t see marv or anyone else leaving as they won’t get the same wages elsewhere.

haidara always strikes me as an athlete rather than a footballer. No real football brain and a bit of a headless chicken like Obertan.

Mbabu? I don’t know is he? He wasn’t an obvious NUFC player until we had no one else to cover LB and we bought him as a up and coming CB plus the only cover being mentioned is Sterry as a RB

Plus currently he is out of contract come summer isn’t he?

Must be seen as a worse LB than Dummett which says a lot about how he must be rated

I can’t believe I really forgot we have Riviere.. 😐

Riviere should be given another chance in the team when he is fit. WW: You say Dummett is an uncomfortable CB covering at LB? Dummett has always played LB for NUFC Youth and Reserves, am I not correct? He is not especially good, but he is not a CB. Willems would be perfect solution for LB problem.
