French Report – Newcastle Want Loic Remy

7:33 am, Friday, December 18th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 17 Comments

There´s a report in France that Steve McClaren is more than interested in bringing Loic Remy back to Newcastle in January and maybe on loan.

The report is in Le10Sport but the main just of the article is that Lille are looking around for strikers and are interested in giving Loic Remy some playing time.

Loic was never a favorite of Jose Mourinho’s but with Jose being fired yesterday and Guus Hiddink taking over for the second time as caretaker manager things may be looking up for the French Striker at Stamford Bridge.

One of the problems Lille will have is matching the wages the 28 year-old gets in London and their chances of getting the French International striker have to be slim at best.

But the report then goes on to say that Steve McClaren is keen on getting the striker in on loan next month.

On the surface of it that would probably work but Newcastle very rarely give a second chance to players who willingly leave Newcastle and don’t want to sign a deal with us or leave for bigger clubs..

A similar thing happened with Yohan Cabaye in the summer but given how Cabaye has performed in London for Alan Pardew and Crystal Palace he would have been a great signing for us last summer.

But at best this report of Newcastle wanting Loic Remy on loan next month seems fanciful at best.

Loic Remy had his chance to sign for us eighteen months ago and he didn’t and since then he’s been mostly on the bench at Chelsea.

But Loic will also be motivated to get more playing time through the end of the season, so he has a chance of making the French squad for the Euro 2016 tournament next June – which takes place in France.

Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace knows all about Loic Remy from his time at Newcastle, and the Londoner made  a valiant attempt to sign Loic in the summer, but he was unsuccessful.

It’s expected Pardew could be back in for Loic next month and he could even be successful with Loic already in London – and Stamford Bridge is only about 8 miles away from Selhurst Park.

While on loan to us from QPR in the 2013-2014 season Loic Remy played 27 times with 14 goals – a very good record.

Comments welcome.

We need, spirit, passion, drive and ambition more than anything else. If the team show some of that every week, then players will want to come here.

He didn’t “willingly leave” for a bigger club, Ed, he satisfied his contract (loan until the end of the season) and exercised his right not to sign with us permanently. It’s fair game.

Got talking to some Boro gobshite yesterday who claimed that we tried to resign Cabaye but he turned us down ”it was in the papers” AND Sky Sports News he said. Despite what the obnoxious Jib says my ‘footy knowledge’ is not that bad and I do not recall such a situation, anybody clarify please.

He was set to sign for us but did a left turn at the last minute and signed for QPR, they went down so he came to us on loan, refused to play the last game of the season, and then went looking for another big money move.

Ok so there is nothing wrong with him looking out for number one, but why the hell would we want him back here?

Why would he want to come? he turned his back on us twice for a permanent move, and only came on loan so he could play in the prem and put himself in the shop window.

Lets face it we are not going to get the player we want in January, so a loan deal for Remy would do!

Not saying it will ever happen, but it would do!

    Firebug @7
Bang on. Remy can jog on and take his sorry wasted-career ass somewhere else. No doubt he will have a few suitors.
His attitude is the last thing we need in our squad right now.

Speaking of waster players I just want to add a quick opinion on the Chelsea situation. I really hope they continue to decline now. Say what you like about Mourinho but the way many of their players have downed tools and hung him out to dry is nowt short of a disgrace to the club and football in general.

Costa is just a nasty mutt with a hugely inflated opinion of himself.

    sing in the corner

Have to agree, a title winning team does not simply fall into a relegation battle, I have thought for a while that the players were just not performing for their manager, If they suddenly start climbing up the table now…..

Remy coming would be a problem, he may get goals but at what cost?
The Chelski situation intrigued me, the decline seemed to start when Jose refused to back down on his wrong decision to castigate Eva Caneiro after she went onto the pitch at the behest of the referee.
Since that moment, there has been no unity in the camp (or so it seemed to me), then he hangs Terry and Matic as well as Hazard to a certain extent out to dry.
The only player for me who can walk away from this season so far under Jose though is Willian, every game he plays he is the driving force behind everything good they do……time will tell though, a good start would be a nice little point vs mackems as long as we win vs villa and hopefully by about 4-5 goals (im dreaming there, I would take a 1 nil now as long as its to us).

should have been “the only player who can walk away from this season so far with any credit”
