Newcastle In Danger Of Doing This Against Villa

Newcastle have been very inconsistent this season,  so when we have played newly promoted Watford at home we lose 2-1 and yet when we play Liverpool on a hot streak under new manager Jurgen Klopp we win 2-0 –  and then at Tottenham we win 2-1 in what is Spurs’ first defeat since the first game of the season.

So what would you expect for Newcastle to do tomorrow when we play bottom of the table Aston Villa at home?

Mark Lawrenson – predicts Newcastle win

A defeat would be consistent with Newcastle’s haphazard form this season, but if that happens it would also be a disaster and certainly would spoil Christmas for lots of fans around the world.

Former Newcastle defensive coach and BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson mentions the inconsistency when he’s predicting the result of the game on BBC Sport:

“It looks like Aston Villa could be cut adrift completely shortly – things are that bad for them.”

“Newcastle have found some form after their own poor start and could make it three wins in a row on Saturday.”

“That is what I think will happen, although you never know with the Magpies because sometimes they just don’t turn up.”

Lawrenson predicts a 2-0 win for Newcastle.

Aston Villa have had a calamitous start to the season with only 6 points from 16 games and sacked their manager Tim Sherwood in late October.

They are 8 points from safety and 10 points behind Newcastle so a home win tomorrow would see us on 19 points from 17 games and 13 points above Villa.

In Remi Garde’s first five games in charge since he was appointed in early November he has two draws and three defeats – so he will be looking for his first win on Saturday.

Aston Villa’s only win came on the first day of the season at Bournemouth when they won 1-0.

We hope Newcastle win tomorrow, but the lads have a very bad habit of surprising us when everything looks hunky-dory – so to speak – as it does now.
