Alan Shearer used his Twitter account after the 1-1 draw today with Aston Villa at St. James’Park to say it was a better point for Villa – only their 7th in 17 league games than for Newcastle – who were expected to win this game.
Alan Shearer – better point for Villa
Great atmosphere at St James Park today but better point for Villa than Newcastle. #2poorsides

Comment #2What was really obvious today, was our problem we’ve had for a long time and that’s our total lack of cutting edge in front of goal. P.ss poor!

Comment #3Toonbotherer if the pain of Colo scoring a goal is too much, wait a day. Perhaps people will forget. I’m no big fan of the guy, but without him we would have lost today. You are, if I may say sir, a monumental gonad.

Comment #5I don’t see alans tweet as being a negative for the Toon than it is a positive for villa. We aren’t doing so bad. We aren’t the team now destined for relegation.

Comment #6Even with missing his chance would start with Siem did OK today linked up play from defence to attack.
Today too many fans have their favourites and wanmt them to start so give the likes of Siem, Cisse and Dummett shit today.
Didn’t understand substitutions today

Comment #7well jesper your critique on colback is wrong in all due respect
he is essential in our play at the minute and without him we’d be far far more in the shite
off course we could get a better player in that position but we don’t have them so critisism of him and wat he does is unjust

Comment #10colo did great again today !
we was at fault for their goal though imo as we again did not close down the man but let him turn and shoot.
either way a great effort from us and we deserved to win but we gifted them the point both with their goal and the 5-6 chances we really should have scored.

Comment #11Chelsea sack Mourinho, and Hiddink is in the stands next match ready to take over, for six months. We, in an almost identical position, put Carver in the job, nearly go down and are still paying for it. How much of the poor start to this season, can be attributed to the dreadful second half of the last. 70%?
OK, the conditions were a leveller, but we were pretty duff..

Comment #12The team that finished the game is the team that should start against teams like Villa !!
That way we could have attacked on both wings and probably been a couple of goals to the good before half time
Team selection and poor finishing was to blame for us losing the points
Dummett is a good defender when he has to just defend but he is not a modern full back which is why it would be better that Thauvin was starting because then Dummett can just sit back
I have watched Everton recently and they will cause us problems could be a Palace or Leicester style beating for us
We are certainly not out of the relegation woods yet ! Typical Newcastle !!

Comment #13Manx…I am not going to base my opinion on what you think is right…
Colback’s lack of intelligent running and his pointless bookings are there to see for everyone…even for you if you would just open your eyes.

Comment #20Toon is involved in a relegation battle all the way to May. Get used to it. And we may go down. Ashley out. I will go back when he goes. If we swirl around the plughole for long enough, eventually we will go down.

Comment #31Two good wins after a long losing streak does not mean you get the right you beat everybody. Teams desperate to survive are as hard to beat as cl contenders. We have not lost today, have not lost in three games. How long is it since we could say thar?
