Newcastle Again Reported Interested In This Player

1:01 pm, Tuesday, December 22nd, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 6 Comments

There are more reports today that Newcastle are interested in signing Italian international goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, who is now out of favor at PSG after the Paris based club signed German U21 International goalie Kevin Trapp in the summer.

That has seen Salvatore play only twice for PSG this season and as back-up to Gianluigi Buffon for the Italian team he is keen to get first team football so he makes the Italy squad for next summer’s Euro 2016 Championships in France.

But with Rob Elliot in such sparkling form for Newcastle we don’t think the club will be bringing this goalkeeper in next month.

Not only is Rob playing well for us but he is also showing some leadership in the team and once again he had another good game on Saturday for us in the 1-1 draw and was again our Man of the Match.

The one problem we do see is if Rob gets injured and then we may be short of experience since the two back-ups Karl Darlow and young Freddie Woodman have yet to play for the first team in the Premier league.

If Rob is injured after January that may cause us a problem, but it could also be a chance for Karl Darlow or young Freddie Woodman to come in and show what they can do in the Newcastle goal.

If that doesn’t work then another solution could be to sign former goalkeeper Steve Harper on a short-term deal – since he is currently out of the game as a free agent.

We’d be surprised if Newcastle do bring another goalkeeper in next month.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Thauvin looked fairly decent when he came on, put some good crosses in, didn’t try anything to fancy and tracked back….a bit.

Mbabu and him down the left….although Coleman and defoulou could cause problems might be best to force them to defend

    And….we don’t need another keeper!

Can see them taking another keeper! Probably on loan! Elliots obviously not 100% fit with his thigh, and is susceptible to injury. If physios/anslysists say there is a likelyhood of of him being injured, there is no way they club will let a jak Alnwick situation happen when theyre in the second half of a relegation threatening season. Too much money on the line.

Everton want him to replace Tim Howard and Liverpool are sniffing too .

I think we don’t need another goalkeeper. We should invest money in our defence force and bring at least one good DM. Sell Tiote, Gouffran and all dead woods and bring in some fresh blood.

We need a keeper. One injury away from no experienced keeper. So far darlow has show he can throw well but we need experience to stay up and leadership.
