Mitrovic and Perez Both Start For Newcastle

nufc emblemeverton fc

Steve McClaren has just announced the Newcastle team for the tough home game against Everton this afternoon and both Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic start this game and come in for Siem de Jong and the injured Papiss Cisse respectively.

Teams:

Newcastle (4-4-2): Rob Elliot; Daryl Janmaat, Chancel Mbemba, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Paul Dummett; Moussa Sissoko, Vurnon Anita, Jack Colback, Georginio Wijnaldum; Ayoze Perez, Aleksandar Mitrovic
Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Kevin Mbabu, Cheick Tiote, Siem de Jong, Yoan Gouffran, Florian Thauvin, Ivan Toney

Everton (4-2-3-1): Tim Howard; Seamus Coleman, John Stones, Ramiro Funes Mori, Leighton Baines; Tom Cleverley, Gareth Barry (c); Aaron Lennon, Ross Barkley, Kevin Mirallas; Romelu Lukaku
Substitutes: Joel Robles, Brendan Galloway, Darron Gibson, Muhamed Besic, Leon Osman, Gerard Deulofeu, Arouna Kone

Referee: Lee Mason (Lancashire)

Ivan Toney is also on the bench today after returning from his short loan spell at Barnsley.

Newcastle will play an orthodox 4-4-2 system with our two young strikers up front – and we need some goals today.

Last season we won this fixture 3-2 and it turned out to be Alan Pardew’s last match in charge of Newcastle – so lets hope we can get another win – we need one.

This is what Newcastle manager Steve McClaren has said about today’s tough game:

“The draw las week was frustrating,” “But we’d have taken seven points before the Liverpool game at the start of December so now we move on to Everton.”

“They are a very good team with good players and a real balance to the side as well. They lost to Leicester last time out but, other than that, they are in good form and are usually a hard team to beat.”

“Roberto Martínez has done a terrific job in the three seasons he’s been there and they are a really tough side for any team. He’s shown that Everton have the ability not just to get into the top ten, but to challenge for Europe as well.”

The fans are pretty well split on the result of this game.

being another team who we expect to be difficult i’ve got confidence in a victory and chelski, villa, bournmouth, scums and norwich all appear to drop points only swansea getting all 3 so a win will be even bigger.

    😀

Liverpool just managed to do a monumental cock-up on the break: 4 or 1 defender with GK stranded up the pitch and Benteke managed to mess it up. Still won, but funny nonetheless, not to be missed on MOTD.

I hope Mclaren is thinking of putting Perez wide left forward as I can see us losing the midfield battle with 2 up top

Move Wijnaldum into the middle where he should be playing

We need to win as we are back in the bottom 3 again !!

Win and we go 15th, within 3pts of Everton in 11th. That has to rev the team up.

i dont normally get involved in saying who we should sign, but i would love to throw Alan huttons name in the hat, i think him at right back and move Jaanmat up onto the RW position..

i think we should now be looking to put Thuavan on the LW. but he needs a much better LB to give him good back up..

Looking forward to this. Yes, we need to beat the poor teams in the league and try to snatch points off the top 6 when we can, but how we fare against the middle of the table teams will have the biggest effect on where we finish.

I also have a funny feeling that things will go well here with two+ goals out of our strikers and maybe another one chipped in from Sissoko/Gini or even Thauvin off the bench. They will score as I can’t see our defence keeping a clean sheet so we’ll need to focus on attack and outscoring them to pick up all three points. HWTL.

sisokko will have a crap game today as usual i believe. thinks too highly of himself. never puts in a tackle and always backs out of 50-50 challenges. 1 good game in every 5.

i think we’ll lose today. lukaku will murder colo and mbemeba.

So do you guys think it’s for tactical reasons Mitro and Perez are starting or is it because of the way Steve go about a game?

…if you score you start and if you are a part fielded team that picks up points you start!

He’s a tactical genius by all means 😉 who’s watching the game today?

Did you watch the Villa game?

He pulled up and was subbed off….INJURED!

Tony was then recalled from his loan as cover.

I know the club lies, and they tell enough of them without you having to make some up for them.

In Mcca I trust. Let me hope our players have turned the corner. Mbemba and Colo have been playing well of late.

Anita has been amazing. Lets take Game per Game. I feel the pressure.
