Geordie Fans To Help Pavel Srnicek Today – It Can Make A Difference

1:45 pm, Saturday, December 26th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 36 Comments

The family of Newcastle’s former goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek have appealed to Newcastle fans for help today during our home game against Everton.

They put out the request via Pavel’s Twitter account.

The 47 year-old former Newcastle United goalkeeper suffered a serious cardiac arrest last Sunday while he was out running – and he is still in an induced coma in the Czech Republic with little change in his condition which remains critical.

Pavel Srnicek – remains in a coma

His family have appealed to Geordie fans to sing ‘Pavel is a Geordie’ at half-time during today’s game – and then a recording of that will be played directly to Pavek Srnicek at his bedside.

This is the tweet sent out via Pavel’s Twitter account and some responses including one from Alan Shearer:

We add to Alan Shearer’s words – those at the game today please sing your hearts out for Pavel – it can make a difference.

Right, folk have had enough of the Water XI.

Was always going to be the case for Man U that they’d have a hard time after their main pillar of strength was taken away. Fergie was simply irreplaceable for them. He won titles with the likes of Brown and O’Shea in his team! I always warned Man U supporters it’d be the case, but they lived in denial, they still do. They think if they get a Pep or Mourinho everything will be rosy again, it won’t, particular if they go for Jose so soon after his Chelsea meltdown, that bloke needs a break and I’d advise him to leave the UK for the time being.

We had a similar situation, but we didn’t have as great a height to fall from, when Shearer left – simply irreplaceable for us. Too iconic, like Fergie was for them. We tried by getting Owen before Shearer retired, to pass on the mantle as he was probably still England’s biggest rep ST when we bought him, but we know how that turned out.

I will not be there, but I hope our fans do Pav proud and put their hearts and soul into his song.

Proud to have him as a Geordie.

Mourinho is perfect for the Man Utd job; after years of bullying referees, he may just have them intimidated by now. That club needs to go back to its roots.

Hate seeing anybody go in to a coma, but when the person is active, otherwise healthy and full of beans still, it makes it even worse. Sure everybody will do their bit, however if his heart stopped for more than 5-10mins max, the prognosis won’t be good I fear.

Makes me think of Michael Shumacher also, one of my sporting heroes. Had a number of high speed crashes in one of the most dangerous mainstream sports, spanning his 20+ year career, retires the greatest ever, then a year later, falls on a skiing holiday, bangs his head on a rock; now he’s just been kept alive by his vast wealth, with all the medical history pointing to his chances for a recovery after so long in a coma being slim to none. Sad.

All together – now pointing at Louis and singing:-

I’m still recovering from my recent surgery so I’ll not be at the game today. However contrary to earlier comments on here the SJP pitch actually has excellent drainage so I don’t think there will be a problem today with a constant light rainfall – it is only downpours that effect it.
Also it’s absolutely ridiculous that Stagecoach are stopping their buses at about 6 o’clock today – wonderful planning and management – NOT!

Ian Toon – stop your blog mischief. Hopefully you’ll make a New Year resolution to stop being such a whining tool and such a big tart and you won’t introduce your multiple gang onto the blog in 2016.

Way things stand currently, more and more teams are getting dragged in to it. Things remain the same, we win Everton and then they’re right in the rumble too.

Please do this if you are going to the game:

Pavs family have requested fans to sing Pavel Is A Geordie at half time today so that it can be recorded and played to him at bedside #nufc

  • 23 Tsunki // Dec 26, 2015 at 4:03 PM

Welsh well done proved me right with your little dig after I posted about you being an argument kindler. I was being civil, still am. Just behave for a bit.

Any update on whether this game is going ahead or not, been preoccupied for a while today…

  • 24 Tsunki // Dec 26, 2015 at 4:05 PM

Still can’t get over pav he’s no age I hope he pulls through this one.

  • 25 cyprus // Dec 26, 2015 at 4:07 PM

Talk of a Freudian slip by poor Van Gaal.

Something like this: Wanted to say, ‘I’ve always said it’s not only up to the club to fire or sack me.’

Combined ‘fire or sack’ and came up with fxxk 🙂

PS. TBF, He got it right at second try.
