Poll Results – Where Newcastle Will Finish This Season

1:15 pm, Saturday, December 26th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 26 Comments

We’ve conducted a poll over the last couple of days as we come to the end of what has turned out to be a terrible year for Newcastle United.

Anyway – in a short six days it will be over – so it’s probably a good time to gauge how Newcastle fans feel about things at the moment.

Only 3% of fans think we can finish in the top eight – which is official goal of the club for this season.

12% think we can finish in the top ten – we are currently (only) 6 points behind 10th placed Everton who we play this afternoon at home.

A massive 88% think we will finish in the bottom half of the table which is what we’ve done five times in the seven Premier League seasons we have had under owner Mike Ashley – not including our Championship winning season 2009-2010.

2008-20093418 - relegated
2009-2010102 *1 - promoted
2015-20163718 - relegated

Maybe on the bright side of things only 11% think we will be relegated.

You can still vote if you haven’t already done so.

“NUFC= small club small minded owners patsy for a manager second rate players and supporters who accept mediocrity 2016 quote the patsy manager could be no better than 2015 well good luck with your hard earned cash rolling into fat Ashes bank account for another year while all at nufc take the p@@@ out of you along with all the away fans who will visit sjp for 3 points
    SHEEP ? Out”

Insulting the club itself and it’s supporters?

I would be happy to discuss this with you in person, bladeuser 😉

Looks like Ryan Giggs will be leading Man Utd into 2016.

Celebrity Jail starring Blatter, Plating and Ashley, all in for crimes against football

Game on, just to throw a curve ball at Everton and because they might not expect us to play with two technical and quick(?) forwards. Maybe use Mbabu in place of Dummt against the pace of Delafu(?)

Subs: Banks, Pooley, Shaw, ??????, Flood, ?????, Mariner

Almost got a full team, and what a team. Still a few… berths… left and I’m not happy with Waterfall.

Conditions this afternoon/evening – team that makes the least mistakes will win – going to be a lottery with the amount of rain that has/is falling

It’s a bit worrying when a group of players can down tools and forget personal pride when thay don’t like a manager

Lukaku against Colo in such conditions which means things will be more physical than usual, doesn’t fill me with confidence. Gestede and Ayew caused us a lot of problems last week and Lukaku has both their qualities and more rolled in to one.

Anyone else think Van Gaal looks like Sam the Eagle ?

  • 17 SPRINGY // Dec 26, 2015 at 1:36 PM

i think so…man utd have no fear factor now with him in charge

  • 18 AncientC // Dec 26, 2015 at 1:38 PM

Mitrovic has to play unless the team are going to play with the ball on the deck, which is unlikely. Mitro will dominate everything that comes his direction – it would just mean sacrificing De Jong.

Mitro & De Jong in a 4-4-1-1 does not appear compatible, so one or the other.

I wonder if they’ll give Giggs a chance.

I am sailing, I am sailing,
    home again ‘cross the sea.
    I am sailing, stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.

I am flying, I am flying,
like a bird ‘cross the sky.
I am flying, passing high clouds,
to be with you, to be free.

Can you hear me, can you hear me
thro’ the dark night, far away,
    I am dying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.

not with mourinho available…..if he was still at chelsea no doubt but cant see them passing the chance to get mourinho in with paying comp to another team, they can always keep giggs there as fall back if he fails

    Ron Knee

Jose is probably chucking Van Gaal’s things out on to the street as we speak, his removal van will be there tonight. 😀

Do you think Mourinho could turn Manure around? I’m not so sure!

  • 25 Hail Wor Ashley // Dec 26, 2015 at 1:48 PM

Was always going to be the case for Man U that they’d have a hard time after their main pillar of strength was taken away. Fergie was simply irreplaceable for them. He won titles with the likes of Brown and O’Shea in his team! I always warned Man U supporters it’d be the case, but they lived in denial, they still do. They think if they get a Pep or Mourinho everything will be rosy again, it won’t, particular if they go for Jose so soon after his Chelsea meltdown, that bloke needs a break and I’d advise him to leave the UK for the time being.

We had a similar situation, but we didn’t have as great a height to fall from, when Shearer left – simply irreplaceable for us. Too iconic, like Fergie was for them. We tried by getting Owen before Shearer retired, to pass on the mantle as he was probably still England’s biggest rep ST when we bought him, but we know how that turned out.
