Jester nah I’m not one dimensional ffs jesus Christ have a look at wat I’m actually saying and have done for a while now!!!
And then look back at that comment and then apologise thanks in advance!

I can’t believe I have just heard mclaren say we started well. We got smashed at the beginning of the game!! He also went on about all the chances we created was I watching a different game as I only seen 1 or 2 what the hell is he on. He goes on about hard work but without quality hard work won’t cut it and I’m afraid there’s little quality in the team made worse by terrible tactics and decisions from that clown. Get him out now!!

Christmas Carroll has just bagged. The ghost of Christmas past, or future?

  • 4 TikiTakaAcca // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:11 PM

If you think Mitrovic is bad, you’re one deluded person.

Mitrovic is a player with brilliant hold up play, attacks the ball in the air, a good finisher.

He missed a couple of chances recently, but what striker doesn’t?
What else has he had to feed off of?

People contradict themselves by saying we’re bad etc, etc then moaning at the strikers not scoring.

He was about to bury one today before he was pulled to the floor. How is that his fault?

Seriously, I don’t get how some people even come up with their comments. It’s like making up a bad transfer rumour.

Lets make 2016 right ASHLEY OUT! Don’t be fooled by any signings if there is any nor decent results 2015 wan no accident and will happen again and again and again if Ashley is here lets remove the cancer ASHLEY OUT in 16′!!

  • 6 croftus5678 // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:14 PM

hand on heart i can honestly say that if elliott or krul was playing we would have had a draw minimum there !

the defence played very well esp colo and mbemba but even so they was terrified and on edge looking every time at darlow 2-3 times which is a distraction at best.

anita also had a very good game making a nuisance of himself before he was pulled off but i must say that from the first 5 mins that colback and darlow would be a hinderance to us.

janmaat didnt have a great game either nor did perez who lacked the quality in that game to effect anything.
siem was pretty much the same and he’s too slow and not enough work rate for my liking.

mitro is the only pure striker we have now cisse is injured but tbf to him he’s asked to do a lot defensively also and he aint a fast striker so would be unfair to expect him up and down the field non stop + he should have had a penno.

we need a finisher and to stop playing 2 dm’s and wij on the wing as he and sissoko are the only 2 that make things happen for our strikers atm.

The club freely admits that the loss of advertising revenue affects our ability to compete on the pitch.
They continue to argue that this is a fair return for Mr Ashley’s loan.
Securing permanent paying assets for himself against loans that can, and will, be recalled, is what Ashley inflicted on Rangers too.
That loan will never be paid off (though the accounts may show massive and inexplicable rises in our running costs.)
It is a hijacking. Like offering a mortgage loan in return for the free use of your house.
These egregious “arrangements’ are at the heart of our inability to compete.
As long as the manager hasn’t the option of putting out three fully functioning units…as long as strengthening the defence means weakening the midfield or vice versa, he will always be robbing Peter to pay Paul tactically.
MClaren seems to have settled on the only thing Pardew could make work….sitting deep and hoping to snatch something from a handful of attacks.

  • 8 manxpie // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:15 PM

Jesper it was all pardew’s fault according to you last season!
And now it seems it’s mcclarens fault now
but how am I one dimensional in pointing out exactly why we aren’t doing well
in pointing out the owner squad recruitment running of the club please explain it

  • 9 Tsunki // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:18 PM

    Oh dear 😐

    Never mind. Arsenal away next?

  • 10 croftus5678 // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:18 PM

my team from whats prob available for next game.

not much choice for a second striker or left wing but i’d rather perez be used there and wij in the middle.

  • 11 WWSBRD // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:19 PM

Arsenal away next ah hell am going back on the drink

    Have fun all

  • 12 Tsunki // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:19 PM

If SM was half the manager Pardew was/is/might be he’d come right out and throw Darlow under the bus for that display. Shocking display by an untested third choice keeper.

  • 13 manxpie // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:20 PM

I want to see perez and dejong in the same team problem is we need a creative CM for that bring in shelvey and break the bank to do it in January I say but then pigs might fly! !

  • 14 Nufc-83 // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:20 PM

I can’t understand how most fans can see playing two dms is killing us and playing gini out of position is unbalancing the side completely. Pardew used to do exactly the same things yet these guys are paid massive amounts of money and respected in the footballing world. What is wrong is it the fans are we all being stupid due to the lack of in depth knowledge. I really can’t explain how simple things don’t seem to be picked up or changed by these guys???

  • 15 Tsunki // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:21 PM

Well I am running out of positives I tried I really tried but we just haven’t got the players. They aren’t good enough.

  • 16 Tsunki // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:22 PM

Nufc-83 I think they can so belt up with the ” I am all-seeing the rest of you are idiots’ gag.

  • 17 angelswithdirtyfaces // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:23 PM

So its true that mediocre minds think alike when both Pardew and Macca – can find only one game plan with the team resources and club management approach that ghost of Christmas past, Mr Ashley, pursues.

  • 18 manxpie // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:24 PM

  • 19 manxpie // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:26 PM

You there jesper? Would like to know ya response to your attack like?

  • 20 Transfer Sage // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:28 PM

Simply put we lack a goal scorer and creativity…making it doubly difficult to score goals.

  • 21 terencelim // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:30 PM

Simply put we are unlucky to have the worst club owner in the league.

  • 22 Nufc-83 // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:30 PM

We have 3 players who are some of our best players but don’t have a true position.

Gini- decent player but where would you play him. Csnt play him cm as doesn’t have the all round passing game if anywhere I would have him as no 10 due to his timing of runs in the box but still not an ideal no10 either.

Sissokho- does not have the crossing ability to be an out and out wide player yet certainly not technically good enough to be in the centre in which it’s more crowded.

SDJ- not mobile or physical enough to be a st and probably another no10 but does he have the creativity and vision??

  • 23 optimistic prime // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:31 PM

    We’ll beat Arsenal 2-1 it’s a banker!

  • 24 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:34 PM

We lack creativity. Nobody scores goals with the limited opportunities we create. Mitro and Cisse would score goals if we afforded them regular opportunities.

Aguero, Costa, Lukaku wouldn’t get regular goals playing for us. Mitro has a better goals to shots taro than Austin did last season. Creating chances is our problem, and unless we get a goalscorer like Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar then a striker won’t help.

  • 25 manxpie // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:36 PM

Nufc83 that in a nutshell is a problem with the recruitment set up at this club but the manager is supposed to work with that when massively obvious parts of the squad are neglected it’s laughable if it wasn’t our club like!

  • 26 davis_toons // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:37 PM

We need a Hero in the Middle of the Park.

  • 27 Transfer Sage // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:37 PM

I think our strikers lack movement as well…but again it’s difficult to judge as why would they move as much when the pass never comes…it’s catch 22.

Like you say we need to decide on a style of play.

Either go out and buy a couple of wingers who get the ball in the box or buy a couple of crafty players for the middle of the park.

Ideally both, but we something in January.

  • 28 Nufc-83 // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:38 PM

We need a lb who can actually play football not just run round and be good st blocking shots. We need a cm who has excellent range of passing and can threaten the opposition from distance (when was the last time you see our mids strike a long range effort- every week when cabaye was here). A winger who beats his man gets to the line and whips crosses in for days. Then we could do with a goal scorer but no point until others are bought.

  • 29 jimmysmith // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:39 PM

The 50 million is to all intents and purposes 35 because Thauvin doesn’t figure. Thats more like 25 mill in old money because with the money now in the league any player gets a 30% mark up to the EPL, and this to a squad that was already on the bones of it’s arse, and of course injuries, again, and again, and there’s Macca, very much the cheap and uninspired option, after 6 months deliberation. We desperately need a big signing to lift the group, in any of 6 positions.

  • 30 West Lancs Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:46 PM

NUFC 83 What you are really saying is we have 3 players that may be good enough. I’d say that too but my third would be Elliott not Siem (he’s done nothing yet maybe down to illness or whatever ). The rest are just making up the numbers.McL is in a cleft stick situation he is only picking from 13 at best (now 12 with Anita out) as the others are just not good enough. Unless we get a Far Eastern suitor willing to plunge £500M in were doomed. Surely Cashley won’t throw more bad money after bad (£50M this season thus far). So what happens. He takes Townsend on Loan & hopes Obertan /Aarons can fit the other wide berth if fit & tucks Wijn & Sissoko in the hole behind The Thug. Defence is still crap & midfield is weak so we continue to leak goals. Any answers anyone please?

  • 31 lochinvar // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:46 PM

    I can’t abide Mourinho but he’s free.
Shelvey in black and white would be a good fit.
Stoke beat Everton away by scoring four goals, we lost to Everton by one and Shaqiri who we avoided signing seems to be doing quite well.
    I’m confused.

  • 32 davis_toons // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:48 PM

It is true that players like Shearer score goals out of nowhere. They see an opening and create themselves a small pocket and fire off.

They are very instinctive infont of goal.
    (Former owned by Cisse)

  • 33 toonbrother // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:48 PM

the results we are seeing are exactly what the fans of NUFC deserve. Imagine marching against pardew, demonstrating against Ashley but staying silent as colocinni singlehandedly DESTROYS this club
Ignorant fans You get what you deserve

  • 34 Mag52 // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:48 PM

“Throw Darlow under a bus…..” Are you mad man ?
Any goalkeeper can make a similar mistake, even one as experienced as LLoris(when Perez scored against him a few weeks ago)
He might well be needed in goal this coming Saturday. The last thing likely to help him is a good rollicking.

  • 35 Nufc-83 // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:48 PM

West lancs no I mean they don’t have natural positions with the ability they have.

  • 36 Tsunki // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:49 PM

Mag52 are you aware of sarcasm? Just checking.

  • 37 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:50 PM

We don’t play to his strengths. He had a very good game today and the team created nothing for him. His interplay and touch was better than it has been in most of his games.

The creativity coupled with Sissoko and Gini wide mean that no centre forward will score regular goals.

  • 38 Tsunki // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:53 PM

A couple of seasons ago I remember mentioning what a bunch of square pegs we had bought for our round holes squad board. They were much better pegs than the ones we have now. Proof that buying individuals on an accrual basis has nothing to do with assembling a team. I think it’s worth revisiting the argument of whether we are being treated as fans or gullible punters, and whether their is any mileage in continuing to support it financially.

    Ashley Out!

  • 39 West Lancs Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:53 PM

NUFC 83 WE know what WE need but if you were Cashley & had his money would you “invest” it in a sinking ship. The answer is no. We need first to get to the bottom of the injury crisis that we have been in for several years now. Is it the training? is it the boots they wear? are they just not fit enough??? We can’t keep paying the likes of Saylor big money to play what 20 first team games in 4 years. Perhaps injured players should only get sick pay, after all that’s what you or I would get if were lucky. No the prognosis is very grim

  • 40 Transfer Sage // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:53 PM

I agree to an extent….I still think Mitro isn’t as good as some on here think, but I’m willing to give the guy plenty of time as he is young and learning in a very poor team.

Until we sort out the build up, like you say, we are going nowhere.

  • 41 Nufc-83 // Dec 28, 2015 at 7:59 PM

It’s only sinking due to incorrect decisions and he is the one who can sort it by making the correct calls so dam right he should be investing. He said we will make our own luck well he needs to do something to back that up.

Injury problems is the least of our worries its the inept squad that’s a big issue.

  • 42 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:00 PM

He is slow, he won’t skip past players, so you either play to his strengths or you don’t use him. He is averaging less than 2 shots per game. If he had 1 more goal he would be on a par with Aguero’s goals per shots last season. We just don’t create, and to compound it we don’t create chances that work to his strengths.

The number of times Gini cut in, refusing to use his left peg, when going outside and using his left foot would have created more goal scoring opportunities was embarrassing.

  • 43 Nufc-83 // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:00 PM

Oh and inept manager and terrible club policies

  • 44 West Lancs Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:01 PM

NUFC 83 – NO playing Sissoko & Wijn wide is not their best positionn but we haven’t anyone else on the face of it. We always seem to be running on 10 squad members injured & quite frankly are they good enough. To be brutally honest no. I thought out of the £50m spent in the summer we got two good uns Wijn & Mbemba the others were a poser & a thug. We need a world class Centre Back a very solid left back who can defend , distribute & cross well, midfield leader & playmaker & a 30 goal a season centre forward for starters. Will we get this I don’t think so. So prepare for the worst. We could be 7 points adrift after Arsenal & Man U!

  • 45 Mag52 // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:02 PM

It’s the lowest form of wit, so they say.

  • 46 Transfer Sage // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:03 PM

Is he not getting shots away as we don’t create for him or is he also part of the problem with lack of movement and inability to get in the right place enough.

I personally don’t know, not been to a live game so hard to judge that properly.

  • 47 angelswithdirtyfaces // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:03 PM

What we need is strong leadership on the pitch hmmmm…

  • 48 manxpie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:06 PM

It’s amazing how jesper looks so forward to after game comments but then disappears strange that like!
Lilo I’ve been saying for years that we haven’t had an out n out winger in fact since duff lol
mitro needs that service so thauvin must be a shocker if he isn’t getting a chance

  • 49 Nufc-83 // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:06 PM

West lancs I pretty much agree with you lol.

  • 50 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:08 PM

You play to people’s strengths though. If you are the manager you set your team up to work to your best attributes.

We don’t. We play a centre forward who is best in the air, but play a guy on the left who rarely goes outside and crosses it, and a guy on the right who is wasteful at best.

I don’t care if we drop him or not, but if you play him then play people who will get accurate crosses in the air and play to his strengths. Don’t blame him for not scoring if you don’t playand create chances. The setup is at fault.

  • 51 Nufc-83 // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:08 PM

Has Nathan Redmond been starting for Norwich as always thought he would be good for us and is what we need. Shelvey would be excellent. Any lb that can play football would be an upgrade.

  • 52 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:12 PM

Agreed. We have players playing wide who aren’t wingers. Yet we have a striker who thrives on wide players delivering good service. Yet people want Austin who needs exactly the same. I’d prefer creativity in the centre of the park or width to a centre forward.

  • 53 davis_toons // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:12 PM

Poor goalkeeping and some defensive question….i believe the coaching team will look into it.

What can we ask for a 3rd choice GK? Properly is concentration.

However we don’t have the players able to do that.

Lilo but it again points to the ridiculous set up we have in recruitment
and how the hell can we see it but the people in charge of millions of pounds can’t lol beggars belief
but supposedly it works on the continent so that’s okay lol yeah if it’s set up to properly work I.e a squad for all situations

  • 59 angelswithdirtyfaces // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:21 PM

“buying individuals on an accrual basis has nothing to do with assembling a team.”

Yep, that has to be rule one of player buying
Someobody tell Carr … and Mr Tubbs

  • 60 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:25 PM

Thauvin is car more capable of delivering balls into the box. Switching to a 3 up top with Perez, Aarons, Thauvin, even Toney or Arma as wider forwards who make runs into the channels, pulling people away and cutting it back or crossing it.

The options are there to switch things around, but we don’t seem willing to do it. We have persisted with the same system that benefits virtually nobody in the squad.

  • 61 angelswithdirtyfaces // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:26 PM

Surely its got to worth a try of starting Thauvin as winger supplying Mitro – maybe with Wini as No 10 and Mbemba DM.
Trouble is then we’ll still lack and ACM distributing, unless SDJ drops deeper. …Oh alright you’ve persuaded me …. we really do need 3 EPL standard players in January.

We need a sparkler in the Middle of the Park.

  • 64 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:32 PM

Who knows if they can or can’t see it? Ashleys financial and recruitment policies play a far bigger role. According to most reports a st summer Carr wanted Payet and/or Stew ahead of cabella. Payet didn’t represent a chance of a good return in investment and Ayew was too expensive in ages and signing on.

Carr is far from perfect, but how many chief scouts can you name? Carr is all of a sudden the problem, another nice get out for Ashley…

  • 65 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:35 PM

  • 66 davis_toons // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:35 PM

Unless we go out there and take in 4-5 attacking players in Championship under our wanted list.

Davis Toons Agree if we do not sore we won’t we . Conversely if the opposing team scores more goals than us then we won’t win. Answer we need a free scoring forward with 30 goals plus per season. We need a world class CB to help concede so many goals & full back who can tackle & distribute well.
Is S Mc capable of finding these players or will Cashley urge Carr to find players who can be sold on in the future for profit ala Cabs & Debuchy? Is Ashley looking to build a successful football club or just in it for the money?. WE all know the answer

  • 70 manxpie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:42 PM

Exactly but one person that is totally exempt is the person that trains and picks the team
but he gets 90% of the blame which is imo wrong but is recycled Wat seems 100% of the time
it’d be great to see our next home game totally against Ashley no one else not the team not the manager but just Ashley will never happen tho unfortunately

  • 71 optimistic prime // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:46 PM

Ashley couldn’t give a toss, he’s to blame for the policies and problems they create.

He’s got all he wants, a vehicle to advertise his tat worldwide for millions.

The only way he’ll act is if he thinks we’re going to be relegated, it may have been a bit close for comfort last year and he’s a bit more nervous than usual but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for him to act.

  • 72 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:47 PM

The person who picks the team isn’t exempt. Nor are the players. None of them are blameless. From Ashley down to the players, they all deserve to take a portion of the blame for our performances and where we are.

I’m actually off now, will catch up with you later.

  • 73 West Lancs Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:50 PM

You can’t keep selling your best players for profit. WE did & look where we are. Villa did with Benteke & Delph & look where they are. Michu & Bony left Swansea and they are just above us.
You must strengthen your squad without selling your best players. We’ll see what Cashley does in next few weeks but wage bill must be cut by offloading the dross for free if necessary. We are carrying far too much dead wood & far too many injuries.

  • 74 reilly // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:51 PM

if it wasnt for colo we would of getting stuffed today, your dislike for him is clouding your judgement.

  • 75 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:54 PM

To clarify before I go. Ashley is responsible for the major issues at the club, but the players are far more capable then they show, McClaren has options to change things, Carr could surely put his foot down and categorically state better players could be signed representing better value.

Ashley is the main problem, but there are othersthat could do better within their lesser roles.

  • 76 West Lancs Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 8:57 PM

Lilongwe Geordie is right. Everyone at the Club needs now to stand up & be counted. Ashley has now to decide does he plough another £50M in to maybe not save this club from relegation or does he say I’ve put in enough. Mclaren you got £50M at start of season & got the 4 players you wanted. Only problem was he didn’t strength at the back the one place that was priority one for strengthening. Ashley now needs another scapegoat to blame. Will it be Carr or will it be S Mc? It certainly won’t be MA as he came up with cash & it hasn’t worked

  • 77 BandB // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:00 PM

There’s every chance that more of the dead wood we could part company with in the summer might get a year’s extension in the hope they may claw back a million in transfer fees if they come good while someone else is paying their loan fees…a la Sammi.
I am convinced the contents of Mr A’s lavatory must be flushed into a storage tank where the steam can be gathered in the hope he eventually finds a mug willing to pay good brass for it.

  • 78 Shot Bru // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:04 PM

    Another predictable, disorganised performance.

The worrying thing is that the players and the coaching staff don’t appear to have the stomach a relegation fight.

Players were 2nd best to everything all day, out thought, out muscled and no desire to play for us…and this is against West Brom.

    West Lancs
Ashley will he stick or buy
Got a funny feeling he will stick and hope the Mackems and Villa are down and chance his arm that we have the players and manager to finish above Swansea or Norwich.

If so I do not think we are capable of finish above them
    Don’t know if it is
    the players
    their desire
    Managers tactics/nouse

and if a decent offer comes in for anyone he will offload

    Hope I am wrong

  • 83 BandB // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:11 PM

    And Lil

Carr is working on Mr Ashley’s Pannini stickers collection. Not the good ones, just the obscure ones that he might get a canny mark up on.
He doesn’t seem charged with building a team for Newcastle United.
We don’t have a team. The owner has a playing assets portfolio….that tried and tested (to destruction) formula of every cute-as-a-box-of- monkeys owner who thought he could re-invent the wheel and is now busy doing so in lower league football.

  • 84 GeordieTwo // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:11 PM

The only players due back from injury or illness soon are Aarons and Elliot. Little to choose from on the bench. Lots of sick notes picking up fantastic pay packets. We needed a clear out 2 seasons ago let alone now. It still needs to be done. McLaren looks lost to me and unless we get 3 or 4 top players in he’ll just keep fielding the same 11 with the same tactics.

  • 85 West Lancs Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:14 PM

    You are spot on Charlie.
Have you seen S Mc report to the Chronicle:
The loss to the Baggies was the Magpies’ 10th defeat in just 19 Premier League games, meaning Newcastle will begin 2016 with five fewer points than halfway through the 2008-09 campaign, when they were relegated.

Despite this, head coach Steve McClaren has offered a ‘half-term report’ on United’s season so far which puts more of a positive spin on their perilous predicament, suggesting the Magpies are beginning to find “consistency”.

It is “luck” McClaren believes has not been on United’s side, particularly given the fact Aleksandar Mitrovic should have been awarded a penalty on the hour mark at The Hawthorns.

Has he completely lost the plot! You can’t rely on luck – when did Toon last get a penalty? You have to make your own luck.
January will see loan players at best. Forget megabucks for Carroll or Austin. Anyway we have enough sicknotes!

  • 86 GeordieTwo // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:15 PM

You couldn’t make this pathetic mess up if you tried. A completely non-existent MD in Charnley, a retiree head scout with what is looking to be an increasingly poor record in player signings, a bargain bin head coach with nothing fresh or innovative and a completely disinterested owner.

  • 87 BandB // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:17 PM

And Charnely isn’t here to build a team.
He’s here to build a hotel.

  • 88 GeordieTwo // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:18 PM

Having the mackems and Villa go down won’t help us Charlie @82. 18th place is looking increasingly likely for us. A sad sack team with no heart for a relegation battle led by a head coach who is likely to cut and run if things continue in the same direction.

  • 89 West Lancs Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:20 PM

Agree Geordie Two but who is going to take these wastrels of our hands? Perhaps Carr should be given the task of getting rid of them by Ashley on the condition that he makes a profit on them.
With respect Mc has little or no quality to call on. Just needs them to play as a team for each other & hunt in packs like the Liverpool game until he gets more options. But realistically both he and Cashley must know were doomed without more class in strategic positions

  • 90 NezzaNUFC // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:24 PM

last season we were lucky not to get relegated am I right?

Now I feel as if we now deserve to get, we are all fans with different views but we are the one’s who get punished by Mike & Co and the players and staff.

These guys don’t care about us regardless what they say in the press!

Time for NOT getting behind the team!

    Time to take action!

  • 91 Charlie in the Gallowgate // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:25 PM

Could be the best thing to happen to us – this fighting relegation season after season in the end gets to you the fans/players/city the piss take.

Maybe a couple of seasons out of the premiership spotlight – clear-out of everything Newcastle United may make supporting Newcastle United a happier place.

As for Ashley he has either got to sell up or completely change business plan/ethos of the club

  • 92 GeordieTwo // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:26 PM

Aye West Lancs mate. I think players like Saylor and Obertan are worthless now. Release them outright and eat the cost. Focus on trying to save the careers of players like Aarons before he becomes a permanent sick note as well. Loan or sell Riviere back to the French leagues. Good is probably finished before he starts as well with all the injuries. Riviere was supposed to be a top scorer. You’ve got to be jokin’ Carr. He looks worse than Luuk de Jong. A weak club like ours under Ashley can’t afford half a dozen sick notes. Get crackin’ Carr.

  • 93 West Lancs Geordie // Dec 28, 2015 at 9:27 PM

Get ready for the annual 31st Jan announcement. “We tried to bring in a number of quality players but at the end of the day we didn’t quite manage to get them over the line”.
However we have brought in a winger on loan who can’t even get in his host club’s first team & are looking to bring in an emergency goalkeeper on loan if necessary.
Before that defeat at Watford (out of FA Cup) means Toon’s season is over yet again in January for the umpteenth season running.

    Mbabu—- colo——-Lascelles—–dummett (ugh)

Admittedly, this line up doesn’t solve the problem of dummett’s existence & the lack of many..or any …viable options. Also, Lascelles is not a very good CB.

Sissoko already plays like a Forward with a very deep starting position & defends like it. He’d be a decent SS

Mbemba is comfortable on the ball..midfield desperately needs a physical presence ..i think he’d be a great defensive midfielder

Janmaat can run around like a chicken with it’s head cut off in RW, rather than RB

The problem with the muck and brass crew you mention is that they have all looked at the Premier League and thought: “now there’s a blazered gentlemens’ club of Tim Nice But Dims we can fleece.” The problem with blazered Tim Nice But Dims is that they reckonize an Old School Tie when they see one, and instinctively close ranks against pushy barrow boys trying to take the pee. If we, Villa and Sunderland go down, they will meet at the club for a quiet brandy and the toast will be good riddance to bad rubbish. How long since we had a penalty? To be fair i could not fault the effort in the Everton and West Brom games, but we are simply not good enough, as has been said 18 corners for them for starters, backs against the wall job, and its the midfield that is causing us all the problems it just is not good enough, the defense takes a bashing, but or central area of midfield needs looking at badly, i would say Colback for all his effort is probably the least effective central midfielder in the prem, apparently his stats prove otherwise? im not questioning his ground coverage and the amount of square balls he gives, but the lad should be a back up player.

  • 160 Roosta // Dec 29, 2015 at 12:17 AM

We have a hectic program like everyone else at the moment, but Mclaren is bringing players on with 85 mins gone, it is showing that he must have no faith in our squad if he continually starts the same 11 who have us just about bottom of the prem, get your hand in your pocket Mike, your man Charnley isnt doing his job properly is he, what you gonna do!!!! thick as thieves.

  • 161 Blackley and Brownlie // Dec 29, 2015 at 12:29 AM

Charnley and Carr can’t even bolt a horse to a cart. This pair are like a rabbit in headlights. Bleedin Stan and Ollie. Rank incompetents. Their record over the last 12 months is disastrous. And Ashley is going to give them more money? He needs to get his bumps felt.

  • 162 manxpie // Dec 29, 2015 at 12:54 AM

Lilo sorry to make it clear i meant mcclaren is exempt from blame for recruitment and how the club has been run but still gets all the blame I’ve said it before there’s pprobably no managers that would do much better with this squad and Ashley chat when ya next on

  • 163 Blofal // Dec 29, 2015 at 4:05 AM

Our defence has been the subject of criticism for a while.. but all along what has been understated is our midfield not being up to scratch and being able to protect our defenders. That is coming home to roost now.

Even the lowest teams in the league are not afraid of attacking us because we offer very little threat if they over commit.

  • 164 Blofal // Dec 29, 2015 at 4:21 AM

If we had a half decent threat going forward we wouldn’t be getting pinned in our own half 90% of every game. Team would be sitting off us and showing us respect.

At the moment teams just easily press us until we give up the ball then walk it down and have a shot. Our back 4 today were brilliant and blocked so many shots I lost count.

Coloccini was right in his post match interview when he said “…you cannot defend for 95 minutes, the opposition are always going to have a chance that way.”

And it’s our midfield that is the problem. Our midfield can’t setup or break down an attack.

Anita and Colback pester opponents but rarely win the ball back and do not setup attacks.

Sissoko goes missing in the midfield and has thus become a winger.

Wijnaldum is a number 10 or RAM but is currently stuck out on the left doing mainly defensive work.

De Jong is a number 10 / second striker and out of form due to lack of matches and premier league experience.

Gouffran was bought as a winger/striker and is/was a grafter at best.

Tiote hasn’t been the same since he got injured and is a shadow of his former self.

We need a complete rebuild of our midfield. So many things wrong with our club but if you want to concede less goals and score more goals it starts with the midfield.

If I was McClaren I would go 5-4-1. At least that was Lascelles can get some experience in a back 3. There is no point in having 2 strikers up top if they rarely get the ball.

Roosta, B&B, Blofal – agree with all of that. Basically nobody in a position of power at the club who is capable at this level. We’ll be shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic for the rest of the season till we sink into the Championship. The only glimmer of pleasure I can see ahead as a Newcastle fan is to rejoice in the financial pain that relegation will cause Ashley. Sad, pathetic, but true. Howay the lads.

  • 166 ilovetoon8788 // Dec 29, 2015 at 4:53 AM

We can go on and talk about things on hindsight, unlucky here unlucky there. Today it was a great defensive game as usual. As colo put it, we can be defending all game. This counter attacking mclaren tactic is utter thrash.

Our counters barely work, but we are pinned in our half almost every game. We don’t have a clue on how to attack and we can’t put away the minimal chances we create anyway.

THIS squad, unless a drastic change is made in January, is going down to championship and we won’t come back up for a long time. For a very long time we have been the worse team in the league by miles and are so lucky to have not been relegated.

I say this is the season we finally deserve what we have been sowing. Relegation.

  • 167 ilovetoon8788 // Dec 29, 2015 at 4:56 AM

Agree with u. West Bromwich, who average one of the worst possession in the league can outplay our midfield. Colback is like James perch. A very good utility player, a back up. Him starting in our midfield says it all really.

Our entire midfield is completely rubbish with sissoko and Gini wide players which is not their position.

  • 168 The overrated Frenchman // Dec 29, 2015 at 5:46 AM

McClaren is in the “denial” phase of his tenure, which signals the end usually. “It’s not that we are not good enough, or trying hard enough, we just can’t get a break. We’ll get there, we just need a bit more time.” Well guess what Steve, time’s up. No more soup for you . Next!!!

  • 169 Lilongwe Geordie // Dec 29, 2015 at 6:43 AM

But who replaces him? What faith can we have that anyone at the club will make a good and positive decision? So far during Ashley’s tenure we have had Keegan – while relationships were good, then Kinnear, Shearer, Hughton, Pardew and now McClaren.

Keegan was one for the fans, Kinnear was a bloke he knew from the pub, Shearer was completely ill equipped to manage, Hughton fell into the job because they failed to appoint anyone else, Pardew was a sacked League 1 manager, and McClaren was a sacked Championship manager.

Based on that record can we have any confidence in them bringing a good manager in? Can we have any confidence in a good manager wanting to join anyway?

McClaren needs to wakeup and try to change things. He talks of consistency consistently. We are consistently outplayed, teams consistently create more against us, shoot more, have more possession etc.

  • 170 Ron Knee // Dec 29, 2015 at 6:51 AM

I think you’ve answered your own questions! McClaren’s job is quite safe – for as long as he wants it.

On past form we should have no confidence that they’ll appoint a good manager. So it’s going to be up to McClaren to find a way to get the best out of his dysfunctional squad.

  • 171 The overrated Frenchman // Dec 29, 2015 at 7:00 AM

Don’t know who replaces him if I’m honest, but something needs to change to even give us a chance of staying up. Too late to make significant changes to the squad at this stage of the season. OK, maybe we’ll sign a couple of players in January, but they will have to be world-beaters to change this mess around. With us sat firmly in the relegation zone and likely to stay there it must be time to roll the dice. You have to make your own luck sometimes.
