Star Player – I Was Told Newcastle Were Building A New Team

It’s come as a shock to Newcastle fans that we seem to be as hopeless as we were last season – even after we have three new players in the side and four new players were signed last summer for a massive £52M.

It also seems to have come as a shock to some of our new players too, and because we are now 3rd bottom of the league and odds-on favorites to be relegated by the bookies – it will be even more difficult this month to persuade good players to come to the club.

Georginio Wijnaldum – Newcastle were building a new team

Gini Wijnaldum was told by manager Steve McClaren that the second half of last season was just a bad time for the club – and that Newcastle were going to build a new team.

What’s that line from Robert Burns again – the plans of mice and men often go astray.

Gini has been asked today whether he expected to be playing in a relegation threatened side this season:

“No, of course not. I spoke with the manager before I came here and they told me 2015 was a bad year and that they wanted good signings to create a new team.”

“They want to be a lot of places higher in the Premier League. It’s difficult, three players won’t change a team.”

“You need more and those who are already at the club must help to make it a better team. Those things will always take time but we don’t have time right now.”

“We’re in the relegation zone and we need good performances and points.” “We’ll see what will happen in the next couple of months.”

“Everybody is disappointed and frustrated.” “It was quiet in the dressing room because everybody was busy with themselves.” “We had a team meeting after the game at the training ground.”

Those are good words form Gini – a potential future captain of Newcastle.

Things will need to change very quickly on Tyneside otherwise the disaster scenario that threatened us last season in the very last game – relegation – will actually take place this season.

There’s just no doubt that those ruining the club from the top have badly let the fans down – again.

We have a tough game at Arsenal this afternoon and not many fans think we will get much out of this game.

The lads need to play out of their skins and then maybe we can get something out of this game.

mainemagpie…the team need to start producing and McClaren needs to actually show up!

…simply just doing the same each week hoping for a different outcome is just insane!

We’ll start to support more when they start doing their part. It’s a give and take relationship my friend. Right now we are the only one giving!

..morning Ron 🙂 Charnley should be up and about now sober. Do you think his new year resolution was to actually do some work for ones?

There maybe 3 (or 5) worse but there are 12 much better owners in the PL.

    Said all season
If we are in the bottom three we will not be able to get the players we want in the January window.
    Going o be a miracle getting…
    1 Decent players in
2 Escaping relegation – after the fixtures and most likely the results from the fixtures in January and February we will be cast adrift at the bottom.
    v Arsenal A – Loose
    v Man Utd H – Loose
    v West Ham H – Draw
    V Watford A – Loose

    Everton A – Loose
    West Brom H – Win
    Chelsea A – Loose
    Man City A – Loose

Makes us 21 points with 11 games left

from there on in got to win all home games 5 left and at least 1 away = 39 points

What Gini hasn’t realised is that Riviere is a new signing, just ask wor Wally. Team building well underway. Ferguson, Ambeoi, Vukcic will all be back soon too. Aye, we’re building a team, and we’ll be ready to take on the Championship and all. Jokes aside, we must be the least desirable destination in the Premier League. The toxic atmosphere pervades everything. 50,000 numpties turn up to cheer or boo on cue like a pantomime and that’s the great attraction? Give me a break.

The rarity of MA interviews made the majority of us believe that it was a positive message, where as “I am not leaving until we win something” is more ominous. It reiterates that the club is an investment that must reach its highest possible price, so he can cash in and with only paying its own way.

This would be fine if the Club was actually being run by someone able to realise the full earning potential. “Make our own luck” would include a new training facility and an improved Academy payed for through an up turn in results, higher corporate revenue and advertising. Instead we have an ownership model seemingly limited to the idea that transfers will eventually raise the clubs profile, unfortunately the horse has already left the unbolted stable and we are left with a disparate and unproven team, with a driver who is more miss than hit.

I read M Douglas’s article in the Chronical (no relation): “Newcastle United: 13 left-field lessons from 2015 – and how they will help the club in 2016”. Accurate, insight and totally depressing. We are just an xl spreedsheet.

Guess you were sold pies in the sky Wijnaldum. You must be feeling like dog shite likethe rest of us. Another depressing year for us fans and it seems it can get even worse. We need at least 4 new faces in this month that can have an immediate impact in the team performance or we are going down for sure.

Gini was told that the club are building a new team but what he wasn’t told is that it’s being done in Instalments, better known as the ” never never ” – the tell tale signs of Sports Dire and Wonga cheapskate thinking.

Was he told that we are building a new team to challenge the top of the Premier League I wonder …pause…thinks…no.

A new team might just mean new faces replacing old faces ( depends on sell by or sell on dates ) – in other words no change really .

On a separate note I see that Allardyce is prepared to walk away from the Mackems – careless to loose two managers that way ! Meanwhile at Newcastle …

We know that Ashley will say anything to anyone to make a buck – and lying to players is just more of that. In his Sky interview nobody picked up on the fact that he didn’t say he wanted to win anything or that the club would try. Only that he wouldn’t sell until it had.
Ironic that the one time he was on camera he found a way to deceive without actually lying.

Well its slightly heart warming to know its not just the fans who have been deceived but the players also, but hey the club has form for tricks like that, K.K is a prime example of the deeds this club sinks to. I think we will get stuffed royally today in London. Judging by the suggested signings mooted in the media, the same mistakes are about to be made again! Einstein is quoted as saying something like doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result is madness, here we go again.
Oh Ed the quote is ” The best-laid schemes o’ mice an’ men gang aft agley, an’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain ” and PAIN is where we are now!!!!
Happy new year to you and all on the site 🙂
