Siem de Jong is not a happy camper at Newcastle this season and it’s not surprising as he has been unable to break into the first team and doesn’t even come off the bench in every game – so he is having very little playing time.
And it doesn’t help that’s in a team that is 3rd bottom of the Premier League and fighting against relegation so far this season.
Siem de Jong – unhappy camper
It cannot be easy for the 26 year-old International especially after last season’s injury woes and his collapsed lung.
This is what Siem had to say to Algemeen Dagblad:
“It sucks, especially because I need the minutes to get into a rhythm and get used to the physical games in the Premier League.”
“It feels a bit like my first years at Ajax. Sometimes you play, then you come on as substitute or you are not part of the squad.”
“There is also the feeling that you have to prove yourself. There is a new coach this season, not the one who bought me.”
“There were also new signings. No, it isn’t the easiest situation.”
Siem is right – it’s not an easy situation at all, but he’s got to do his best and prove he is worth his place in the side.
But we do expect McClaren to try to give Siem playing time from the bench and we are hoping Newcastle will start to pull away from the bottom of the league.
In fact the main (only) thing for Newcastle this season is to avoid relegation and we are hoping Siem can help us do that.
Comments welcome.

Comment #6There’s not really a place for him in the team in my opinion. The signing of the other Dutch bloke in the summer was bad news for him. Still looks like he’s got something about him but if it’s a straight choice between them the other guy starts every time for me.

Comment #7Looks as though we’ve got another sissoko attituded player in our team this time it’s de jong.
You want to get back into this team well start getting some goals or start playing as a LW to give wini his chance as the CAM because he’s certainly got more goals i him than you have.

Comment #12Alan Pardew has denied these allegations stating on the Newcastle official website: “Following media reports concerning my player selection for our final game of the season against Liverpool, any suggestion that I colluded and agreed with our loan striker, Loic Remy, that he did not have to play in this game are wholly untrue.
“To suggest that I considered there to be nothing riding on that game is also completely false. Our final league position was at stake, as was the race for the Barclays Premier League title for our opponents, Liverpool.
“What is more, each and every one of us associated with the Club was desperate to get a result for our supporters, especially those 2,800 travelling fans who made the journey to Anfield that day.
“The reality was that Loic had sustained an ankle injury in our game against Cardiff the previous week. The results of an MRI scan conducted after that fixture revealed ligament damage and swelling around the joint.
“Had Loic been fit then clearly, without question, he would have been selected to play in what was a crucial game like every other.”
(Come back Pardew, we miss you)

Comment #16Avoid relegation? The priority?
Didn’t Ashley say he’d like to win something then he’d sling his hook?
If that was the case, then let’s hope we win the FA Cup.
But can he be relied upon to keep his side of the bargain?
That is the $64000 question!

Comment #17Where are wor other top, top players of yesteryear? Where is Luque when we need him? Xisco is looking good now as well. That’s the kind of firepower I’m talking about. Ashley will be so pleased if I can get these players back to fill in while we decide what to do in the Championship. Do we stay with the already fabulous Arsenal model? Do we bring in some Austrian pre-teens? What is the plan Mike?

Comment #20The club should have loaned De Jong out at the start of the season could have meant he would have been properly match fit !
Still would like to see him in a middle 3 with Tiote and Wijnaldum at the very least at home

Please point out where Ashley said he’d like to win something, he said he won’t be leaving until he did, never has a statement filled me with such dread. Met yet another person who thought Ashley was a Geordie today, this is how fcukin private he keeps himself and is the black and white scarf and shite just to make the public think he’s one of us and we deserve him ?

Comment #30Don’t despair mates! I’ve got lots of other brilliant ideas to share with Mike about wor current dilemma. I’ve been visiting Ashley in the Fuhrer bunker recently. He looks a bit worse for wear I’m afraid. Hiding from his beloved supporters is very tiring apparently. He has all his top people working on wor problems. Kinnear has called in. So has Llambeezee. So am I worried? Never!

Comment #32You see mates, the key to a brilliant season is to build slowly. That’s what Steve is doing with us. We’re slowly building up a head of steam. Staying under the radar. Then at about the 45 game mark of the league we suddenly spring to life! Huzzah!!!

Comment #34It’s the sign of a committed player that Siem expresses his frustration at not getting enough plating time, but what he needs to remember is his injury record. He has recovered from a very nasty injury but he has to be patient as Newcastle have been. On the transfer front I hope Newcastle snap up Remy and go guns for Townsend and Shelvey.

Comment #40The only way SDJ will ever play regularly in the EPL is if he issues all the other players with lead boots.
Sounds like he had problems early days with Ajax as well !
