Newcastle To Sign This Long Term Target This Month?

8:40 am, Saturday, January 9th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 16 Comments

Newcastle Chief Scout Graham Carr has been tracking Toulouse striker Wissam Ben Yedder since early 2013 and like any player Graham takes time in watching over a long period of time – Wissam could end up signing for Newcastle United.

We saw that with Florian Thauvin in August when out of the blue Newcastle signed the winger when we really could have done with a defensive player – preferably a center-back at the time.

And there has been some transfer news recently with Toulouse head coach Dominique Arribage admitting his 25 year-old French U21 striker could be sold in January:

“With every game we have in January I will have several press conferences a week and every time I will get asked the question about Ben Yedder,” he said at a news conference.

“I will say that I am very happy to have him in the squad. He is a powerful player and I want him to be with us as long as possible, but indeed there is a possibility that he leaves.”

Marseille are said to be interested, but it would be just like Newcastle to sign the 25 year-old who would be cheaper than a lot of other strikers we are being linked with in January.

The cheaper targets still seem to be important to a still too-thrifty Newcastle this month.

But with the player having no Premier League experience then if we did sign him it would be debatable if he could score the goals that are necessary to save us from relegation this season.

Ben Yedder scored 15 goals in 38  appearances last season and since signing on from UJA Alfortville in 2010 he has made 150 appearances for the French club with 53 goals so he’s a decent goalscorer.

Spurs and West Ham are also credited with an interested in the 5ft 7 ins striker.

The fact the player has recently started to follow Newcastle players Adam Armstrong, Rolando Aarons and Florian Thauvin on his Twitter account has also fueled rumors he may be headed to Newcastle.

We shall see.

Comments welcome.

So we’re chasing another Arma with no premiership experience???

When will these morons ever learn???? …again exactly the type of player we don’t need in our hour of need.

Today’s match will be a good opportunity for McClaren to try out some new ideas (assuming he has any!) against a quality side.

Sparky…PL experience is almost impossible to sign if you don’t want to be taken to the cleaner and you want quality at the same time…

…don’t expect such thing to happen in a January window. The screwed up on the summer ones again and we are going to pay for it this time.

Mr Tuff- Earlier. What about Mr Tuff being on the list of bloggers who has chased toon fans off the blog. Your top of the list. Your obsessive labelling of new entrants or anyone you don’t view favourably seemingly (for a multitude of reasons known only to you) as multiples. More often than not me. All this has done has caused Ed embarrassment and asking me to carry on posting. I suspect he takes this less seriously now because of you ( and your partner in dirty tricks Jail) constantly crying wolf.
People like Murvar – a senior fan who talked football and was labelled by you on your silly list and by one of your cohorts as my brother . Hail wor Ashley who you labelled as me is a bloody good contributor and was annoyed and bemused by your actions. More recently Rob Mactoon getting in on the act has caused Jack Root aggravation and abuse. Good to see him back.
Just give it a rest. I am not the sort of individual to be deterred by such behaviour – my only issue is to find the time to contribute at all.
You should devote your energies like Jimmy Smith does to talking football and not playing daft annoying games.
Save the faux anger- you don’t need to respond. The truth will owt.

Ian, stop being an idiot. We all know what YOU’RE about. Lost soul if ever there was one. Thought you had promised not to name drop me anymore but alas, here we are again ……………………..

You have such a selective version of events on here it is making me think you are not much more than a Troll.
Sack Llambias randomly and out of the blue attacked/abused me and the later it appeared he changed his user name to Jack Root. maybe it is just a coincidence that they both use the same “hotlink” on their names?
However Ian, you do not abuse/attack Sack Llambias for randomly attacking me, you take advantage and have a go at me! EVEN after we promised to steer clear of each other. You are such a hypocrite.

This fella is incredible gifted on the ball – has a futsal background but is not the type of player we need to lift us out the s**t. Reminds me a touch of Mahrez would add a lot to us next season if we could convince him to come in the summer (on condition of survival).
