Save Our Club – Sign Two Strikers In January

5:35 pm, Saturday, January 9th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 36 Comments

Just how poor Newcastle are in front of goal was seen clearly today at Watford, and the home side were not good and we were the better side in booth halves but we just couldn’t score – and the good news we suppose is that we created a number of chances.

But then we absolutely gifted Watford their goal just a minute before half time  after they hadn’t looked like they would score.

It’s yet another case of very wasteful finishing from Newcastle and our fourth 1-0 defeat in a row.

lee charnley mike ashley

Charnley and Ashley  – have to become ambitious – and quickly too

And things cannot be looking too good for either Newcastle or manager Steve McClaren either after another toothless performance in front of goal.

What is clear is that Newcastle cannot just bring in one striker in January – we need a couple brought in – if we are to have any chance of remaining in the Premier League this season.

And Newcastle cannot try to bring cut price players in or not pay the going price for talented striker(s) who could save us this season.

After all Newcastle  are set to lose around £135M a season when the new £5B deal kicks in.

We know it’s difficult for the Newcastle of today to be ambitious and decisive – but that’s what the club will have to be in January, if we are to survive in the Premier League come May.

Newcastle seem to be in free fall these last 13 months or so and it has to be stopped – and the sooner the better.

Save our club – before it’s too late!

SMC on radio Newcastle sounds like hes going to burst into tears.

    Its over for him.

So we CAN play football, and even DOMINATE teams, but we just cannot do the crucial thing and that is score GOALS!

What’s the betting that if we do bring someone in it’s a DM.

The is no understanding between the players in our squad, and a serious lack of trust. The change in formation today made no difference we still spurned the few chances we had.

The head coach is totally out of his depth, but then so are all those above him.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m ready for championship football, as I can see nothing that shows we are ready for a relegation fight.

    Onwards and Downwards unfortunately!

Wow. Deluded Macca. “we were in control, I can’t fault the boys for effort, We had 25 crosses, they had one chance and scored, We’ve only had 2 dissapointing performances, Leicester and Palace”

He’s lost the plot if he really believes that. What the hell is going on?

Millwall have made a bid to buy Newcastle United winger Shane Ferguson, boss Neil Harris has revealed.

Harris said: “We have put in a really strong bid for his services permanently.
“We will just have to wait for the next few days to see what happens.
“The chairman has backed the bid.
“We will see how it unfolds.
“He has shown his quality – and he has the Euros coming up in the summer.
“There is so much more to come from him.
“We would like to have him long-term, and at least for the rest of the season if it cannot be next season.
“But he might wait until after the Euros before making a decision.
“He has really enjoyed his time here – he has played a large percentage of his career with us.
“He enjoys playing at left-back and in left midfield.
“He is a great lad. He is very popular in the dressing room and he and his girlfriend like London.
“He wants to be part of what we are doing.
“All we can do is give the offer we think Newcastle would accept and try and get him to come long-term.”

But who exactly is going to score the goals I wonder?

  • 16 John Tudor // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:45 PM

How can anyone defend NUFC, Mike Ashley, Lee Charnley and the idiotic transfer policy? An England international who can’t get into a team challenging for the Champions League spots is turned down because he’d cost the going rate…we deserve to go down with these clowns ru(i)ning the club!!!

there we have it in black and white

  • 18 Wayayman // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:48 PM

Honestly lads, having seen every game this seaon except todays -which I listened to on Radio Newcastle, I just cannot understand how MacClaren can say what he does week in, week out with that smirk on his face. It just shows you how little Charnley knows about the game if he buys the crap spouted. I’m on the verge of just giving up caring. 45 years old, it’s a hard habit to break though.

  • 19 Pootle2118 // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:48 PM

On a lighter note, I’ve just checked my Super6 results and for the first time this season I have all green results. 5 correct results and 1 correct score.

  • 20 West Lancs Geordie // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:48 PM

Firebug mate !Can’t understand why Shane Ferguson isn’t in 25 man squad. At least he can cross a ball & we are short on full backs. The other lad they let go to Wigan & then went to Rangers was also a great crosser of a ball but wasn’t given a good go

  • 21 andrew84 // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:48 PM

If NUFC was a horror film it’d be just like The Shining.

McClaren is Jack Torrence, the Overlook Hotel is Fat Mike…..the butler/waiter would probably be Penfold or Carr.

Our best player was Aarons and he didn’t even make the bench.

  • 24 ArtyH // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:51 PM

Save our club by selling it, to anyone who cares about football or knows anything about football. Its the only recourse to save the club.

  • 25 BandB // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:52 PM

McClaren is showing exactly the ability to put a brave face on failure that put him on a shortlist of one for the job.

  • 26 Ian Toon // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:53 PM

Jib – Aye. We could do with some Scottish steel in the side. Moncur and McNamee which is also an answer to the dominant CB question.
One of my most enjoyable showings under Pardew – Toon 3
    ManU zilch.

    john tudor
just listened to macca interview….cant believe this bloke thinks what is happening now, every game is good enough to say to the players….we are doing all we can so just keep going?…dominating the game?…..creating loads of chances?…working quietly but working hard behind the scenes to get players in?…..he is delusional or all us are…sickening that its been aloud to get this far…..if ashley has any passion for this club/business he needs to step in and sort it….coz if he does’nt and we go down he deserves everything he gets.

  • 29 ronaldo aarons // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:53 PM

I never saw the game but by all accounts we should have been 1,2 nil up in the first half and we apparently had slightly the better of it in the second half as well as missing another couple chances. If the match was 0-0 people would be saying that we played alright just lack a clinical striker (remy). If we had won people would be going mad saying that we dominated, just because Watford were gifted the win doesn’t necessarily mean we played terrible this match. Performance was what it was, just lack a proven goalscorer. The rumours about gabbiadini are probably untrue but him and remy on loan would be two strikers I would go for.

Toon KK he’s saving him to unleash on Man U. Good performance against them & he’ll be off for mega bucks!
JT liked all your comments this afternoon. Toon fans are usually right & Thauvin doesn’t realise yet just how much harm he has done to the travelling faithful.

I would have thought we would have at least one player in before the Man U game.

  • 33 firebug666 // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:56 PM

    West Lancs Geordie @20

I agree mate, on the few occasions I watched him play he did very well, has good pace and a good eye for a cross, gets past players to the byline and can also defend at LB.

Those are the attributes that help a team win games, hence his being shipped out on loan and possibly sold.

    Same as Abied I’m afraid.

  • 34 sweendog // Jan 9, 2016 at 5:59 PM

Disappointed but the team were good,I’d take a win at watford in the league with a new striker I think it’d happen. still think fans need to back the players its not their fault were run badly, the game showed we sorely need strikers as watford were played off the park and still won. Also why does no one take shots from outside the box.

I argued against the pardew out campaign, when he left we were in the top 10. Realistically where did we expect to be? I think it’s just a shame that the pardew out brigade got their own way
    – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Yeah it was great watching all those losing streaks, with a minus GD, least goals scored, most conceded stats, oh yeah pure ejoy that. The regular sunderland at home and away, reading at home losses, liverpool 6-0 hamerings, etc etc.

This club has been split and rotten for a long long time now.

  • 36 Ian Toon // Jan 9, 2016 at 6:15 PM

Arty- Aside from Daniel Levy chairman at Spurs who is a lifetime fan there are very few around. He attended a fans forum / type of meeting shortly after selling Bale and wasting a lot of the money in the short term on player recruitment. He didn’t run away because he understands the fans.. He is a fan of football and his club- a dying breed. He rectified with an inspired signing of Pochettino.
Harry Kane it’s said is not for sale- they see CL football in prospect.
If only we had such a progressive Chairman/ owner who recognised that you build on quality. Talk of spending £10 million to replace Cabaye. Fine but why wait so long.
