This Midfield Target Still Holding Out On Joining Newcastle

2:59 pm, Sunday, January 10th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 18 Comments

Newcastle are still trying to bring in some players in January and news today that Alexandre Lacazette did turn down a potential move to Newcastle and given our league position and form over the last year – who can really blame him.

But there should be other targets we should be able to get to the club this month and one we have been reportedly in  negotiations with for over a week now is Bordeaux winger/central midfielder Henri Saivet.

Henri Saivet

Henri Saivet – negotiations ongoing

But even Saivet has expressed concerns  about Newcastle because currently we are in the relegation zone and that he does not want to be playing in the Championship next season.

That’s why it was so important that we won some games after the Aston Villa draw, so we could have moved up the league table but our low position could now cost us some signings this month.

We hope not too many.

The Chronicle is reporting that negotiations are ongoing with the Bordeaux players but if we are having trouble signing this player – for around £3M – what problems will we have if we go after better players?

The latest report is that his club Bordeaux want more than £3M for their player – that’s according to the Mirror – so we hope Newcastle increase the offer quickly and not haggle over one or two million, when we will lose £135M a year of we are relegated.

We have haggled for a million here and there far too much under Mike Ashley.

It’s not looking too good right now, but the powers that be at Newcastle (read that as the people who got us into this awful mess) have to make some breakthroughs this month and maybe have release clauses in the players’ contract that if we are relegated they can leave the club.

That’s what it’s come to at Newcastle in January 2016 – due basically to gross mismanagement at the top of the club.

Comments welcome.

Springy, can’t remember Cisse & Mitro being on the pitch at the same time in any game this season, maybe I’m wrong?
Seems weird that you would never have thought of having your top two strikers on at the same time, especially given the number of games where we have been behind!

So at best this guy will improve the bench, ie replace Gouffran.

Spend a but more and you could have Narsingh, Lewis Cook, Mowatt, Byram who all have much more potential and aren’t injury prone.

We need central midfielders that a must seeing as we got rid of Abeid, at the minute we need reinforcements.

Cisse and mitro must be the partnership, I like Ayoze but the lad isn’t a striker, plenty of link up play by mitro yesterday but failed to see this golden chance he apparently spurned. 25 crosses if true then these lads need to work on better delivery and getting more players in the box.

As for the idiots who abused Thauvin, if you don’t like what you see, dont pay to go and watch it….This bollocks of “he earns 50k” so he earns more money than we ever will and that means he’s less of a person or doesn’t have feelings? Absolute idiots, typical dosile fan, instead of feeding the very person who’s responsible (ashley) by buying tickets you blame a player who joined 4 mths ago.

Move on, sign lower division players that want to come and play for us not overrated inferior mercenaries who want a shed load of money

We’ve probably got one eye on buying for the Champioship now. We can add the other if we’re 5 points adrift on Wednesday night.

more like selling for the championship

Saying someone is not fit to wear the shirt is getting at those that purchased the player, as well as the player, no? Thauvin has had a decent game against a lower league team and then just fallen over the rest of the time when given an opportunity, I have no gripes with travelling fans wanting to voice their issues……I have no gripes with fans wanting to voice any issues with the club

our toon been 2/3 on here today who were at the game have said it was not aim at thauvin but at the team in general ……….were you at the game…… radio newcastle said it was aim at him but the tv highlights said they could not tell who it was aimed at him or the team in general

And if fans have to refrain from critiquing players what right do theyes they have to critique ashley……logic?

    I’ve checked back.

Cissé and Mitrovic have never actually appeared on the same pitch for NUFC.

They have frequently been subs for each other and we appear to do better when Mitro comes on for Papiss than the other way round.

Yesterday they could have tried them together except PC still has a groin strain.
