The following policies should be taken into consideration before commenting:
An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

Comment #2For all of you football experts that are wondering what Andros Townsend can offer Newcastle United? Well here is the answer for you! He will supply Mitrovic with enough ammunition to score at least 15 Premiership goals this season. He is strong, very quick and direct and equally as good at crossing with both feet. I have been embarrassed by reading some of the comments saying that he is no good. Get him signed asap.

Your right. For me there’s a need to bring in another forward. Mitrovic held the ball up well and was combatative but he missed a number of chances that would have put the game out of sight. I thought Sissoko was poor and needs to get his head up to improve his vision. Delighted with Selvey who’s range of passing reminded of shades of Cabaye. A free role for Wijandrum proved he really is a Jack in the box. Overall movement and shape was excellent.
Given our current standing we need a proven goalscorerat this level.

Comment #5One thing ive noticed about fans is their dishonesty
Reading through the comments you would think Colo has been putting in masterful performances whereas Mbemba has merely been the supporting act.
Here are a few stats from premierleague.com for you to chew on
Colo CLEARANCES made this season 85
Mbemba CLEARANCES made this season 138
Last season
Colo Total Blocks 17 Total CLEARANCES 169
Willo Total Blocks 18 Total CLEARANCES 180

Comment #667 yard pass apparently? Sublime !
Watching the Valencia incident again the referee looks in line with the incident but I think he’s watching the ball. He doesn’t react at all to that incident, doesn’t wave of signal for advantage or anything.
Still don’t think it’s a red card anyway.

Comment #7I must admit the amount of bloggers on here who have written Townsend off is extremely neggy.
Yes his stats aren’t great on assists or scoring but
a) How many out and out wingers like Townsend are prolific goal scorers?
b) An assist is recorded when you’re last player to touch the ball before the goal scorer does…what about the guy the passed it to the guy who passed it to the goal scorer.
Shelvey was that man twice yesterday and you’ve all raved about him and said what a wonderful signing he is but when it comes to stats he’s played one game with no assists and no goals scored.
Just saying!

Saw something on the skysports website about who has been the best defender in the PL this season, they had a number of different catagories and showed the top 10 pr so players in each one. Mbemba was in more categories than any other defender. Colo was in one of them though, cant remember which.

I’m with you all the way mate…I think Colo is a complete and utter liability…but you need to let it go mate…we get it and know where you stand on this particular subject but lets enjoy the moment…we won yesterday and Colo played well (that wasn’t easy for me to say out loud by the way)
Put the whale music on…arms out stretched…deep breathe in…slowly out and repeat.

Comment #18The 2nd goal was sublime, the pass the 1st touch the cross and the finish on a plate.
Hope to see a lot more displays like that, if Mitro starts banging them in I can see a cpl teams getting battered.
On their goal, silly back pass but I was more concerned how Colo and Dummet just stopped and weren’t watching the runner. Poor play from all 3 IMO.
Cracking game good result but I still felt nervous, we really need to start finish atleast 10% of these chances.
P.s Gini was class, Shelvey wasn’t bad either 🙂

Comment #19Spatky, people like me are being negative because he’s shit, he’s just a headless chicken Obertan clone. I dont see a queue of other clubs lining up to take him off Levy’s hands.
He might be capable of maybe five assists in a full season, so may get two if we sign him now. My problem is that i think we can do much better and that there are better players out there in the same or lower price brackets.
It just reminds me entirely of the Thauvin deal. A player who looked like he might have potential when he was young, turns out he hasn’t.
Townsend had a brief period where defenders didn’t know what he was going to do, he soon got found out and faded into oblivion. Thats also the reason he did ok for England as the opposition had never heard of him.

Comment #23Im one of Colos biggest critics, can’t stand him and don’t want him at the club never mind captain.
I’ll admit he’s had 3/4 decent performances of late, not sure if he’s been that good or he just looks better because he was pants before.
He’s not the answer for me but if he keeps performing like he has of late I can’t slate him to much.

Comment #25Wini is world class, hopefully he stays for a long time. I noticed him smiling each time the volume in the stadium increased, the guy’s loving his football and seems to love the Geordies screaming.
Colo was class yesterday and has been for a while now. At 34 he has great energy, I’ll miss the guy when he retires.
Shelvey made some excellent passes, he brings a calmness into the centre and can’t wait till he scores his first screamer, an excellent buy
Saivet looked a little of the pace but got better after 10 mins. He put in some strong tackles, we’ll just have to wait and see if he’s going to make it.
Colback played brilliant. I usually have a dig at him for playing to negative but he was class yesterday, maybe having Saivet to push for his place is going to pull the best out of Colback.
Dummett had a great game. He is much faster than he looks.
Mitro is tough mofo, he battles for every ball, just needs to get his shooting boots on.
All in all a great win HWTL

To be honest I’ve never seen him play live, I’ve seen him play for England and IMO he played very well.
I’ve seen him on MOTD over the years but never really took much notice of him because he’s not and never has been a toon player so I’m certainly not qualified to judge him in any way shape of form.
You have…you think he’s utter sh!te and everyone is entitled to their opinion but I’d be very interested in knowing how much you’ve seen him play to make such a judgement.

Comment #27Sparky, you took the words out of my mouth. This obsession with “assists” is a bit weird. I don’t remember the term even existing twenty years ago. Shelvey was the key architect of both goals yesterday, yet only Wijnaldum and Janmatt get the credit.
None of that demonstrates that Townsend is a good player, but his main attribute is running at pace with the ball, moving the team from a defensive phase to an attacking phase very quickly, from which chances can develop. The only player who really does that for us at present is Sissoko, but to me he never seems particularly convincing, and indeed often sparks counter-attacks against us by being disposessed too easily. I wouldn’t complain if Townsend was bought as his long-term replacement on the right, but equally happy to see how Townsend, Wijnaldum and Sissoko could work as an attcking midfield trio for the rest of the season. Happy days, hopefully.

Comment #28One thing that Shelvey brought to the team is confidence to pick a pass – after his first few passes were successful in bringing goals even Colback was trying (and succeding) in actually passing forward !

Comment #30Mindshaft, how can you read that and not think Mbemba is doing well?
He’s made more tackles than any other CB, he’s in the top 10 players for clearances, interceptions etc. Etc.
He appears in the lists more times than any other player in the PL

where would he play?
on the right – no, we have sissoko
on the left- altho Perez isnt his best there i think he has done enough to stay in the team. Id also rather give aarons or thauvin a chance.

Eh??
Mbemba
7th in tackles(top CB)
4th in interceptions
6th in clearances
6th in blocks(Colo is 4th)
5th in duels(top Cb)
How exactly you come to that conclusion, based on this link, that Mbemba isnt doing too well i dont know.
I tihkn Mbemba is one of the form CBs this season, totally consistent, solid in 1vs1 especially with him pace. Im very happy no-one seems to be catching onto this, keep it quiet and we keep him for longer.

WOW 15 goals. I would personally look at other options but not be so mystified should we sign him, as when Carr recommended and we bought Thauvin. We do need better delivery into the box. Should we sell Tiote we could well settle on him and with an extended run of games he could be an asset.
However, questions need to be asked as to why Townsend joined Spurs in December 2008 and has been on loan @
Yeovil, Leyton Orient, MK Dons, Ipswich, Watford, Millwall, Leeds, Birmingham and QPR. Talking to a Spurs fan he tells me that he’s a late developer ( still only 24) and that he lacks consistency.
He’s apparently very good or has a mare which maybe accounts for the number of subs. Up to end of last season 22 apps and 25 subs with 3 goals. Carr needs to be held accountable for his recommendations and McClaren needs to have faith in him. Which I sense he doesn’t – has Carr really had a hand in the Shelvey signing. We really need a shake up of the academy and scouting recruitment policy generally.
I said earlier of the need for fresh recruitment on the scouting front. By all means keep the local regional scouts but Carr needs to be replaced as effectively a DOF by someone able to function as Chief Scout and head of recruitment. This would enable McClaren to regulate scouting to his requirements and devise appropriate programmes. .

Comment #37All mitro had to do was lift the ball for top corner not bottom and he would of scored, can’t wait for him to start scoring I believe he has it in him to be a great player, he gets him self in the position to score he’s just not got no luck on his side when it comes to finishing but I believe he can.

Aarons has got all the ‘potential’ in the world but to date has not had a run in the team anywhere long enough to suggest he’s the answer to any of prayers winger wise.
Like I’ve said before…everyone suggesting we’d have Sissoko AND Townsend might be jumping to conclusions.
