Newcastle Midfielder – I Can Be More Important For The Team

Ever since Steve McClaren finally moved Gini Wijnaldum into his favorite position – the number 10 role where he plays in the center just behind the main striker – he has looked a different player – a much better player than when the Dutch international was wide on the left.

Gini is hitting the goals this season for the Magpies and has scored in each of his last two games, and now the 25 year-old has 9 goals and is top scorer for the club, followed by Ayoze Perez with five and Alexander Mitrovic with four.

Gini was asked if he thought he was playing better now that he has the position he likes playing in:

“Yes much better because that is my better position. I can be more important for the team.” “I can make better runs with my technique and my goals.”

“I enjoy every goal I make and I hope I score more to enjoy with the team and supporters.” “If you score everyone can enjoy it, especially the supporters.”

“Every point that we get is important. We have to stay out of the relegation zone,” “In the middle of the table sometimes you don’t get the points you think you should.”

“Sitting in the relegation zone you need every point you can get.” “Every point is important. I have the confidence we won’t get back in the bottom three.”

“We have to show it on the field though.” “We have climbed out of the relegation zone a few times but we still dropped back so we must stay out of it and win games in a row.”

“That is the only way to keep out of it.”

Swansea City play Watford at home tonight at the Liberty Stadium and a home win will take them one point above Newcastle and put us back in 3rd bottom place.

But we cannot rely on teams around us losing games – it’s up to us to save ourselves – and the best way to do that is to put some wins up on the board.

And next up is Watford on Saturday at Vicarage Road and we must go all out for all 3 points – once again.
