Newcastle Put In Bid Of £15M For West Brom Striker

11:28 pm, Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 6 Comments

It´s interesting that the two players Newcastle are trying to sign this week – Andros Townsend of Spurs and Saido Berahino of West Brom – are both not on good terms with their clubs.

And maybe because of that the two Chairmen of the clubs Daniel Levy of Tottenham and Jeremy Pearce of West Brom are both trying to drive a really hard bargain with Newcastle.

Saido Berahino of West Brom – Magpies bid £15M

The news is that Berahino would prefer to join Tottenham but there has been little interest from the north London club as they seem to be trying to sign other strikers.

Newcastle have bid an initial £15M for Berahino according to the Mirror.

West Brom are also putting some pressure on their player too, as he doesn´t yet know whether he will be allowed to leave West Brom this month or not.

The other club said to be interested are Stoke City, but the main thing is what each club is willing to bid and it seems that Newcastle have been the first to put in a solid bid of £15M.

And it seems Newcastle´s opportunity is that West Brom would prefer to deal with the Tyneside club rather than Spurs.

That´s because of the animosity that built up last summer over Spurs´ unwanted efforts to sign the 22 year-old England U21 striker.

The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle are willing to pay £15M in cash up front to get the deal done now.

It would be great if we can get the second Englishman to the club this month – after Jonjo Shelvey joined us last week and had an immediate impact against West Ham.

Saido hasn´t played too much lately and that´s similar to Andros Townsend, but Newcastle can get both of them up to speed quickly.

Bu the first thing is to get them signed.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Berahino for £15m would be a fantastic signing.

I’m sorry, though, Townsend is worth £8m at best; Daniel Levy’s stance is ludicrous, given that the player will not play for the team, and has only 18 months left on his contract. The fact that he won’t let him go out on loan (in case his value plummets after an unsuccessful loan spell) is telling enough.

I say go for berahinho and use the rest on defensive reinforcements- we have zero depth across the board there

Levy is hoping for as much as he can get for Townsend, he,l end up stuck with him and serves him right, he apparently offered £20 mil + Townsend in the summer for Saidio which may explain why he’s valured so highly by WBA.
Leave them both alone for me, go for Remy once Chelski get Pato in ,or like I said in an earlier post get in a striking coach to help Mitrovic start finding the net and wel be ok.
Mitrovic has everything and is getting better, he will start scoring IMHO and when he does, with Shelvey, Gini and Perez as well as Sissoko in and around him, we will have a decent front line,
Once Saivet nails down the DM / sweeper role were sorted there, my only concern is cover for injuries and suspensions
