It´s interesting that the two players Newcastle are trying to sign this week – Andros Townsend of Spurs and Saido Berahino of West Brom – are both not on good terms with their clubs.
And maybe because of that the two Chairmen of the clubs Daniel Levy of Tottenham and Jeremy Pearce of West Brom are both trying to drive a really hard bargain with Newcastle.
Saido Berahino of West Brom – Magpies bid £15M
The news is that Berahino would prefer to join Tottenham but there has been little interest from the north London club as they seem to be trying to sign other strikers.
Newcastle have bid an initial £15M for Berahino according to the Mirror.
West Brom are also putting some pressure on their player too, as he doesn´t yet know whether he will be allowed to leave West Brom this month or not.
The other club said to be interested are Stoke City, but the main thing is what each club is willing to bid and it seems that Newcastle have been the first to put in a solid bid of £15M.
And it seems Newcastle´s opportunity is that West Brom would prefer to deal with the Tyneside club rather than Spurs.
That´s because of the animosity that built up last summer over Spurs´ unwanted efforts to sign the 22 year-old England U21 striker.
The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle are willing to pay £15M in cash up front to get the deal done now.
It would be great if we can get the second Englishman to the club this month – after Jonjo Shelvey joined us last week and had an immediate impact against West Ham.
Saido hasn´t played too much lately and that´s similar to Andros Townsend, but Newcastle can get both of them up to speed quickly.
Bu the first thing is to get them signed.
