Former Player Starts New Adventure

2:05 pm, Thursday, January 21st, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 13 Comments

Former Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan has been appointed player manager at Leyton Orient – and Newcastle United sent Kevin their best wishes.

Kevin has everything it takes to be one of the top managers – he’s got leadership, drive, a good knowledge of the game and has plenty of passion.

What more could you ask for?

A future Newcastle manager?

Sadly plan B relies on no other London clubs going in for Remy – Toon are a last resort for him

Nolan was a great servant for nufc. Good luck to him.

Remy will be looking to go somewhere he will get plenty of first team football. I am not sure the bigger london clubs can offer him that. Doubt he’d fancy palace or west ham either. I’d say we have a decent chance of landing him, if we are interested still.

    Crystal Palace FC ?@CPFC
AP: People will start talking about Connor Wickham and not Harry Kane if Connor starts adding goals.

We have NOT enquired about Remy!

We have NOT enquired about Berahino!

Doesn’t this alone not tell you’s we ain’t after a striker? Or is it you’s can’t face the facts?

And good luck Nolan, top man, leader and player for us.

And no doubt this was mentioned yesterday but happened to the big news?

Lots of #nufc fans asking about Townsend/Berahino deals. Chance both could still happen. Critical days ahead.

    Nezza,

I actually think we have put a bid in for behranio.

But I believe that offer to be around 14 million, and astonishly Peace wants 25 million. There isn’t a chance of Ashley splahing that out for that type of player.

    Chancel

For 14 million though? One of the only times I hope Ashley tells Levy to stick it. Another horrible greedy cockney.

Like you, I suspect our incoming window’s effectively closed and all these reports are a smoke screen.

And, a Guardian headline – ‘Klopp’s kids kill Exeter dream’

They won their FA Cup replay 3-0

Whereas our young ‘uns policy and practice (coaching, developing, succession planning (Planning? What’s that?’ asks Charnley) needs to be completely reviewed by a competent person. Thereafter, recommendations and actions implemented so that the substantial expenditure on our inadequate youth system can produce the players who’ll succeed our first-teamers.

Sorry if that offends Beardsley supporters but he’s clearly not up to identifying and developing any potential that’s out there on the doorstep.
