There are reports in Spain that Newcastle have made an offer for 21 year-old Espanyol striker Mamadou Sylla Diallo, who was born in Kedougou, Senegal.
The 6ft tall striker has only played 9 times for Espanyol with one goal and he was on loan at Racing Santandar from March of last year as a short-term replacement for the injured Mamadou Kone and played 11 times with 3 goals and 2 assists for the Spanish second division side.
Mamadou Sylla Diallo – Newcastle bid £1M for striker
He made his debut for Espanyol in September of last year, coming on as a second-half substitute in the 3-0 defeat at Deportivo.
The report in Spain is in SPORT – that Newcastle have made an offer of £1M for the striker, so Graham Carr and his people must have been watching him in Spain.
The Spanish club are said to be considering the offer.
It’s not unusual for Newcastle to bring in young basically unknown players to Tyneside, but we haven’t had much success in the past.
The big exception is 22 year-old Ayoze Perez has been a huge success for us these last 18 months.
There’s very little risk for Newcastle because the fee and wages are small, but the upside can be huge.
We paid out €2M for Ayoze from Tenerife and how much is he worth now?
Of course we should be keeping him at the club and since he must be on really small wages we should be offering him a new improved long term deal – as soon as possible.
