26 year-old Corinthians and former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato will be arriving at Chelsea this week and that will see Loic Remy fall even further down the totem pole at the south London club.
Loic Remy is very keen to play first team football thorough the rest of the season, so he has some hope of making the French squad for the Euro 2016 finals to be played in France in June – and he will not get that at Chelsea.
Loic Remy – when on loan at Newcastle
With Pato´s arrival it´s almost certain that Loic Remy will be made available by new manager Guus Hiddink Remy but Newcastle at the moment are trying to sign West Brom striker Loic Remy.
Newcastle do have a plan B if they cannot get Berahino in the next couple of days and we have to believe that could be to go all-out to get Loic in on loan, because he´s a proven Premier League goalscorer and would settle very quickly at Newcastle.
While on loan during the 2013-2014 season for us he scored 14 league goals in 26 Premier League appearances for the side – a good record.
However, his history with Newcastle is not all that great and he turned us down for bottom-placed QPR three years ago when we were again in relegation trouble.
Loic also turned Newcastle down at the end of his loan spell on Tyneside because he wanted to sign for a bigger club playing in the Champions League.
He failed a medical in Boston so didn´t join Liverpool, but he then signed on at Chelsea very late in the 2014 summer transfer window – but has not played much for the Blues and has never been a regular first team starter.
He could do a good job for us this season and he´s a better option than signing 30 year-old Bafe Gomis for £7M from Swansea.
Why not keep the £7M for the new striker who will be coming in permanently over the summer and go all out to get Loic in for a relatively small loan fee.
What do you think?

I think Austin went for the fair market price. People where shouting he’s worth this and that, Qpr doubled his valuation.
He was probs worth 7/8m in summer tops.I don’t think he’ll get more than a dozen in a pl season again, no team are going to work for him like Qpr did.
I’d have paid 4 as a back up striker just don’t think he’s good enough to be the main man at a pl club. He’ll not start for Southampton regularly IMO.
I doubt in a year or two I’ll be complaining we missed out on him.

Comment #45Nit fussed in the least about missing out on Austin, I doubt we were even interested to be honest. £4million is a decent price, but not a steal, seemed like he was already out of Hasselbaink’s plans for QPR moving forwards anyway.
The guy probably wouldn’t have been keen on a move north regardless, he has his academy down on the south coast, and was down that way at Poole before he got his big break, think his Mrs is from round that way as well.
If he does well, good for him, if he doesn’t who cares! Either way, it would still have little bearing on how he would have done here.

Comment #46I see The Second Coming was cancelled yesterday….again.
So, the 17th richest football club has FINALLY decided to spend some money from the CLUB budget on footballers. When faced with relegation….again.
Hurray. Bet the others wish THEY’D thought of that. Once again, we lead the field in innovation.
It’s good. It’s about bloody time. Let’s hope it works.

Austin wouldn’t be able to play the target man role as well as Mitro, Zamora had to do that for him at QPR. Without the hold up play of our target man we can’t/won’t move up the pitch as effectively as we would not hold on to the ball as well. So, whilst Mitro isn’t scoring, we would have far less opportunities for all players if we had Austin up front.

And k do like Jordan Henderson haha but am an odd case as I would happily see Sunderland consistently 2nd in the league as long as we were first

I agree mate on Chelsea. But whoever thinks Seydou is not a talent knows nothing about football. the only problem is his age now and the reason Roma might no have been impressed is the fact he has had quite a few niggling injuries, Hence not much game time.
His record speaks for itself and I think when we were linked with him 2 or 3 seasons ago the blog went in to overdrive.
If Marseille can bring him in then there is no reason for us to not try given our circumstances up front.
Whether a loan deal or permanent I would be more than happy with any.

I think Mitro was outstanding in his hold up play and bringing others into the game against wham, has been in others to.
He’s a big reason the team have played so well in recent weeks by holding the ball and stopping it going straight back.
He’s probably made more chances for others than he’s had himself in recent weeks but doesn’t get the credit for that.
He brings way more than Perez who’s idolised, IMO he’s the one who shouldn’t be starting.
Mitro needs one off the arse and he’ll start banging them in, I’ve got a tenna on for him to score a hat trick at Watford.

And I’m sure West Brom would be equally amused if later that week Mitro picked up and injury in training ruling him out for 6 weeks and we went back toWest Brom and they told us to F Off.
A reaction like you suggest would demonstrate levels of idiocy at board level in the club that even there most ardent detractors wouldn’t accuse them of.

Nope, but Austin doesn’t offer us more than a box player which doesn’t suit the rest of our squad, hence why many are arguing we need a more mobile pacy forward to give us alternative options.

Comment #57Lil, that doesnt make sense. Any player who never comes to Newcastle can therefore not be evaluated as a miss by us, because it would have little bearing on how he would have done for NUFC ? That could apply to any player in the world ! I thunk we have lost out because he seems to be a goal scorer and cost buttons. If he scores regularly for Southampton, yes I think we can say we lost out. We could also say we didnt lose out on Mahrez ( for example ) as we would never have known how he would have done here. My guess is that he would have done fine!

Comment #60Jesper, we were deffo right not to go for him in the summer. By sticking out for so much money, Ferdinand made a bit of a fool of himself. Instead of maybe getting 8-9 mill, they got half a season out of him , and 4 mill.

Not saying he’s a bad player mate am no expert on him by any means but I like what I’ve seen
My point was just he seemed to fail at a big team again I wouldn’t be against him but I am curious of why Roma didn’t like him if it was injuries surely we aren’t the club for him?
op
Our striker should be putting the ball in the back of the net mate and Mitro (as much as I like him) clearly struggles to do that
He can make all the chances he wants but we aren’t winning because we aren’t scoring, we didn’t go all out to buy a striker to not score

Evaluate away mate, but just cause a player does okay somewhere it doesn’t mean he would do anywhere else. Austin wouldn’t suit our squad or the way we play, he may suit a squad like Southampton’s better, I honestly haven’t watched them that much to see how they have been playing.
So by your logic every player that never comes to us is missed by Newcastle as well? I really don’t understand your argument on that. I never actually said you couldn’t say we missed out anyway, I said I’m not fussed about missing out.
Not sure what Mahrez has to do with anything.

Not if we don’t create chances in the box. We are only doing that now because of Mitro’s all round game. If Austin replaced him we lose that and don’t create as many chances, as evidenced the last 18 months.
Yeah, Cisse hasn’t been fit and we have been trying to get rid of him because he doesn’t suit our style of play anymore.

Strikers are obvs to score goals but other areas of their game are just as important.
All 3 goals against Man U came from Mitro putting himself about, Austin Perez and even Vardy wouldn’t have even been challenging for any of those balls.
I can accept a striker not scoring if he’s contributing to us winning the game.
If I had the choice of a striker who’d get you 15 goals a season or one who got 5 but made 25, I’d take the latter.

Yeah, Shane Long would be a good signing, too long in the tooth probably for our board, and a paper was reporting Saints turned down a scouter bid of £8million the day after Austin signed.
Again though, he wouldn’t score lots of goals, but I don’t think that is what Macca is working towards. I think he wants 4 or 5 who can chip in with around 10 plus a few from others to make up the difference. I reckon we are only missing 10 goal players on the right of our front 4 at the moment.

My point buddy is if we are prepared to go and pay 20-25 mill for Bera, Who cannot get in the West brom team for whatever reason. And has had one good season in his career.
Then me personally would sooner go out and buy Doumbia who would be available for around the 10 mill mark, As what is currently being quoted from Marseille with the option to buy. And also bring in Jetro willems and somebody like Ben yedder.
Doumbia……Willems and Ben yedder or Berahino ??
No brainer really. Then that free’s up the money we wouldn’t have to spend on Townsend for a CB in this transfer window
