Townsend Hints He´s Leaving Tottenham

Andros Townsend got some match practice in last night when he played for the Tottenham U21 side and no, he wasn´t injured and out for the rest of the season.

Spurs lost to Liverpool 2-0 but then the 24 year-old tweeted out what could be interpreted as a farewell to the youngsters at Tottenham, with whom he had played since being left  in the first team wilderness at Tottenham for the last four months.

It´s a little bit of a stretch, but it looks like he will not be seeing them again.

Maybe that´s because he will be signing soon for Newcastle United.

Hope so.

    Ron,
I think the guy is ok yes, he is yet to prove himself long term but he has proved he can do it at top level for Spurs and England
I do think he deserves a fair crack

    Toonmania,
I think if Spurs were worried about Townsend having sufficient an impact at Saints that they could recover a 9 point deficit through signing him, he would probably have got more playing time at Spurs over the last 2 years.

It would appear that Poch just wants him out the door. Whilst the first team squad were enjoying a meal in Barcelona on a squad jolly, Townsend was playing for the Under 21’s. I doubt they will care where he goes, he clearly isn’t rated too highly there.

Levy on the other hand will be rubbing his hands with glee at the prospect of two well off Prem clubs going head to head for a player that they want rid of. Highest bidder wins, and Townsend would almost certainly choose Saints unless we offer him a spectacular deal and a bargain get out of jail free card if we go down.

Can’t play when your injured and he has been for a quite some time before recovering and has struggled to get back into the first team and has now fallen out of favour, it happens to many players even good ones, look at debuchy.
At least he got PL experience can score goals and will want to put himself in the window for the Euros, or would you rather us go for another unknown, unproven French player??
our biggest problem is we will struggle with out league position to attract anyone much better than him at the moment.

If he signs for us, I hope he does well. But I haven’t been too impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

We will put him on the left wing and then we have 2 wingers who play 1 in 4 by that I mean one decent game every 4.

Sissoko is sometimes 1 every 8

Not a great signing for the money IMO

    Santon,
For what position? As striker? Another inexperienced striker from Europe, who hasn’t been prolific so far in his career? Out wide? Far from his best position and far better options available.

By all means, go for Ramirez, but as well as a more experienced option and let Ramirez and Mitro adapt and develop in preparation for next season. Ramirez, Perez, Mitro and Arma would be a nice set of 4 moving forwards, but not what is required immediately.
