French newspaper L’Equipe are today reporting that current Premier League leaders Leicester City have put in a €10M (£7.5M) bid for Chelsea’s French international Loic Remy.
Chelsea are ready to close a loan deal today for Corinthians striker for the rest of the season, and that should allow Remy to go out on loan – so he can get regular games and have a chance of making the French squad for the Euro 2016 finals this summer.
Loic Remy – Leicester interested
Chelsea have had a number of inquiries from a number of clubs wanting Remy – with one of them being from Newcastle who want him on a loan deal.
Loic Remy is just one of the strikers Leicester City are after in this transfer window. in an effort to increase their chances of winning the Premier League.
If that happens in May, it will have been only 13 months after they were rock bottom of the league last April with 19 points from 29 games.
Amazing.
Leicester are also in for Sampdoria striker Eder, and are willing to bid £10M, so it’s unclear who their first choice is.
And it will also depend on what deal Chelsea want for Loic – a permanent deal or a loan deal, with TMW yesterday reporting Chelsea want to do the Leicester deal, but we don’t know how much truth there is in that.
Earlier this week there were reports Chelsea wanted £12M for their 29 year-old French striker, so the Leicester bid is well short of that.
But Leicester could provide Loic with an interesting option of playing for the Premier League Champions for a second successive season.
Leicester are 3 points clear at the top of the Premier League and of course Chelsea were the PL Champions last season.
Getting Loic Remy in on loan seems vital for Newcastle’s survival chances and if the reports are to be believed Remy wants to come to Newcastle.
But it’s always difficult to know exactly what the players really think and a lot of it is simply paper talk.
However in this case we hope the reports are true that Loic wants to return to Newcastle on loan.
He could be the man who saves us this season.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41Good having pace on the wings as long as they run both ways. Sissoko has improved on that recently but haven’t seen enough of Townsend to say

I kind of disagree with you, CB is a problem , but for me the biggest problem about our game was where it was being played, ( I don’t mean which ground ),
Our forward line was weak to , but it is our MF where all the problems stem from, we played far to deep and with MF that passed the ball sideways and backwards, our out lets where limited to long punts to no one or give it too sissoko and let him run with it.
Regardless of your personal feelings towards Mac, he has us playing higher up the pitch, which in turn should help the DF out, it’s should be easier for them to pick a man and stay with him, playing deep means your half of the pitch is packed and no one knows who has who, if you lose the ball, it’s very quickly in the back of the net.
On the playing staff front , he has had to give them a chance to prove themselves first, and you can see they have improved, but we did lack forward thinking players, now he is getting the right type of player IMO to help play much higher up the pitch but also to give good options both left and right and center. If we can get a goal scorer in, we have got a good team, with pace power and intelligence.

I said the other day he was one of our better players this season, while he does not attack much , he is a solid defender , and has been clocked as the 4th fastest player this season in the prem. We have lacked a good player in front of him for him to be apriecated fully. Not many skin dummett

dummett has grown on me and I hope he plays more at centre back soon

is hadiara going to make it here or should we jt cut our losses with him

Comment #49So when are we going to buy a left back? Or are we going to play the doomed to fail 3-5-2 because we do not have enough defenders after splashing more than 60million?

i think dummet will move to cb in the summer as i believe willems will join us if we stay in the premier….haidara cant seem to get a run of games without injury unfortunately so looks like he may have dropped down the pecking order to back up left back….maybe thats why they have’nt been chasing a cb….come the summer we will have mbemba, dummet lascelles, colo and pretty sure taylor will get a contract as he seems willing to sit on the bench as back up

If this ‘derby’s’ supposed to be a friendly, it’s to be hoped that Clattermole’s kept well away from the pitch.
But on the upside, it’ll give Saylor an opportunity to sustain yet another long-term injury. It’d be a shame if he didn’t manage a full season out.

Comment #61Sunderland friendly – risky to say the least. Could be a good opportunity for the likes of Clattermole to practice his leg breaker and scissor tackles without fear of sanction.
Injury to any of our better players would enhance their survival bid this season as we are competing against them to stay up.

Comment #64What’s the betting that that old street fighter Sam was the one who came up with the idea of a ‘friendly’ against the Mackems ?
He’ll have his plan all worked out to do over our recent signings plus Wini.
We’re likely to be in a premiership life or death struggle with the scum for the rest of the season.
‘Friendly’ talk is the last thing we should be talking with our local rivals at this critical point in the season.

Good point about balance. It makes it a hard one for SM. I agree that Perez is a CF and should be played there. Wini looks top notch in the n10 position.
Would you think about benching Mitrovic since he’s not scoring, but he does an awful lot of hold up play and bringing other players into the game. How long can that go on though since a CF’s job is essentially to score goals. And only scoring goals will keep us up, because we sure aint gunna stop conceding them!

Comment #66We can’t be too choosy, we need goals asap, imo we want Remy in loan, if Leicester push the boat out and buy Remy, they could get champs league.
