Tim Krul seems to be coming along quite well slowly recovering and the target has to be that he is recovered from his ACL knee injury by pre-season and can have a full pre-season in the summer.
Of course with Rob Elliot doing so well he will have a fight on his hands to retain the Newcastle number one jersey, but competition is always good for the team.
Tim Krul after sustaining the injury last October
We still hope to be in the Premier League by then.
On schedule to be harder, better, faster, stronger. My recovery is going well, watch this video ? https://t.co/PtUoHSK6Ah

Charlie,
Andre Gray is the only one I’d look at seriously, and he can’t play for another club until next season. Blackman also couldn’t play, as he has only just joined Derby from Reading.
Judge is a left sided midfielder, we have just got Townsend for that role, Forestieri plays the same role as Gini mainly at Wednesday.
McCormack is at his level in my opinion, good in the Championship but not good enough to step up. Nobody seems willing to take a chance on Rhodes, which begs the question why – a possibility though. Rumours are Boro have lodged a bid for him of around £11million.
Can’t see Hernandez being available as Hull will not want to derail their promotion chase with such little time to replace him.

Comment #7Remy seems a mixed bag, Lilongwe put forward a good shout as to why he might be no good but I seen someone yesterday saying that he’d only join us to get his Euro lace back on track, surely in the short term that has to be a good thing ???

I would take a punt at Rhodes or McCormack
Rhodes I think is in his mid twenties but has scored goals in every team he has played for – cost £10 million
McCormack is about 30 seen him at TOON two years ago for Leeds hit the crossbar from about 30 yards – caused us problems in a poor Leeds team. Scoring in a poor Fulham team – cost £10 million
Instead of chasing the french lad who does not want to come or Remy
go for Rhodes or McCormack

Comment #9geordie157 is right. We cant fluff around this close to deadline. We need a proven PL striker, and Remy fits the bill since WBA is playing hardball. Would prefer a loan deal just to scrap it out off relegation this season.
If we end up buying him, maybe Pardew might be interested in taking him when the summer window opens 🙂

Jail,
He is 7th or 8th on the striker list for France, he hasn’t featured for them for a long time, not even in the squad. I don’t think the Euro’s are even featuring in his thinking unfortunately.

Comment #11Between Rhodes or McCormack, if we decide to dip into the Championship – i’d take Rhodes. I can see him scoring at least 10 goals between now and the May.
I dont know why he’s stayed so long in the Championship, must have a shitty agent

I personally don’t think McCormack could make the step up. At Championship, SPL, League One he is a goal in 3 striker over his career. I wouldn’t have confidence in him to hit the back of the net regularly in a much harder league. Some players are just suited to the Chapionship, but not good enough for the Prem, I think he is one.
Rhodes has scored goals everywhere, and after Gray he is probably the one to take a chance on. It seems odd that nobody has made a move for him given his goals record though. I haven’t watched enough of him to really know why nobody will.
Both linked with moves to Boro at around £11/12million mark.

Has to be Jordan Rhodes, he has a proven scoring record everywhere and could be the perfect foil for Mitrovic which is the type of striker we are looking for.
The question is what is our formation going to be going forward. Rhodes big problem is that he cannot play as a main striker alone and with the premiere league over the last couple of years set up has been 4 3 3 or 4 5 1. those systems dont work for him. he is a 3 5 2 or 4 4 2 formation player and if we decide to play those formations now and forseable future then his my pick. If not then I will pass.
He is one of the best finisher inside the box in this country.

Comment #17I have noticed over the last week or so with Townsend link that a lot of people have been saying ”where would he fit in?” ”you wouldnt drop Perez”. And now that it’s pretty much a done deal, people are posting their teams and they have all dropped Perez for Townsend…. is that not sending bad signals to Perez? He has produced more than Sissoko this season. Why not drop him for Townsend?
