Things are starting to go a little wild at Newcastle this afternoon into the evening with Sky Sports reporting it will be very busy over the next couple of days as Newcastle try to bring in another three players.
Busy few days to come at Newcastle United – potential for up to 3 more new faces to arrive before deadline.
— Keith Downie (@SkySports_Keith) January 29, 2016
Newcastle have been linked with trying to bring in three players on loan today.
They are 28 year-old Roma striker Seydou Doumbia who we have been linked with many times in the past going back to the summer of 2013 when he was still at CSKA Moscow.
Doumbia only moved to Roma a year ago but he didn’t do well with only two goals in 15 appearances and he is currently on loan back at CSKA Moscow.
The 33 times capped Ivory Coast International has been a prolific goalscorer in his career.
Football Italia is reporting that Newcastle are now the favorites to sign the Roma striker after Fenerbahce talks broke down and Newcastle are now in advanced negotiations for Doumbia.
The 28 year-old powerful striker is said to be eager to join the Premier League and so talks are expected to progress quickly.
Football Italia also report there has been interest from Fenerbahce, Swansea and Sunderland, but nothing came of those negotiations.
Earlier today we were linked with wanting Valencia left-back Lucas Orban, who can also play at center-back and the Argentine International would be an excellent signing for us.
We have also been linked this afternoon with 29 year-old Atletico Madrid’s Brazilian left back Guilherme Siqueira and Sky Sports are reporting that deal is all but one and that he is expected to be in Newcastle over the weekend to take his medical.
It’s not clear with Siqueira coming for a medical whether that means our interest in Lucas Orban will end.
There may also be other targets Newcastle are after which have not broken in the press yet.
One big disappointment if this afternoon’s Mirror report is true is that it seems Leicester City have beaten us to the signing of Loic Remy.
The Chronicle is also reporting Newcastle plan to be busy in the next few days to bring more players in and signings could go down to the wire at 11:00 pm Monday night.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1This atletico left back were linked with. Haven’t seen him this year but last year he was decent for them but agree with the majority of people who say he is not he best defender. He’s not and is a stop gap for somebody like willems signing this summer which I’m ok with but being honest I’m fairly old fashioned and prefer full backs to be defenders first and foremost which neither are. Although willems is actually tremendous going forward.

Comment #7I think dummett is underrated and will be a regular feature for us. Defenders have to defend first and foremost. I wud take doumbia ahead of remy who looks like he peaked a few years ago and wont raise a gallop for us.

Here it would be a bit shit for Mikey if we did relegated after this window.
I reckon we’re probably still doomed if we don’t sign a striker to be honest.

Comment #11Dummett is underestimated and for me he is my Colo successor. I wldnt look any where and waste my money.
With Lascesles and Dummett why waste my money to buy a new CB.

Comment #15We want players who will put their neck on the line and their body and face in the way of shots. Players with the attitude and affinity for the club of Pav. The likes of Remy turn up, play, go.

Comment #18if chelsea were wanting 11m for remy, thats a lot of money for 29 yr old with a history of injuries….rather get doumbia on loan and keep the money for the summer striker search tbh…thats if all options this window are closed obviously.

Comment #20If we cant get a player from the prem i would go for a striker from the lower leagues, theres plent to choose from.
Yes it will cost a bunch but the savings in wages offsets this.
No matter how the player turns out because hes English he will be worth money, just look at Willo.

Comment #27Interesting how much praise Leicester has been getting for its scouting, and now it looks like they are about to pay a premium for Loic Remy. That may put a few fans of Leicester’s scouting into somewhat of a conflict.
