Things are starting to go a little wild at Newcastle this afternoon into the evening with Sky Sports reporting it will be very busy over the next couple of days as Newcastle try to bring in another three players.
Busy few days to come at Newcastle United – potential for up to 3 more new faces to arrive before deadline.
— Keith Downie (@SkySports_Keith) January 29, 2016
Newcastle have been linked with trying to bring in three players on loan today.
They are 28 year-old Roma striker Seydou Doumbia who we have been linked with many times in the past going back to the summer of 2013 when he was still at CSKA Moscow.
Doumbia only moved to Roma a year ago but he didn’t do well with only two goals in 15 appearances and he is currently on loan back at CSKA Moscow.
The 33 times capped Ivory Coast International has been a prolific goalscorer in his career.
Football Italia is reporting that Newcastle are now the favorites to sign the Roma striker after Fenerbahce talks broke down and Newcastle are now in advanced negotiations for Doumbia.
The 28 year-old powerful striker is said to be eager to join the Premier League and so talks are expected to progress quickly.
Football Italia also report there has been interest from Fenerbahce, Swansea and Sunderland, but nothing came of those negotiations.
Earlier today we were linked with wanting Valencia left-back Lucas Orban, who can also play at center-back and the Argentine International would be an excellent signing for us.
We have also been linked this afternoon with 29 year-old Atletico Madrid’s Brazilian left back Guilherme Siqueira and Sky Sports are reporting that deal is all but one and that he is expected to be in Newcastle over the weekend to take his medical.
It’s not clear with Siqueira coming for a medical whether that means our interest in Lucas Orban will end.
There may also be other targets Newcastle are after which have not broken in the press yet.
One big disappointment if this afternoon’s Mirror report is true is that it seems Leicester City have beaten us to the signing of Loic Remy.
The Chronicle is also reporting Newcastle plan to be busy in the next few days to bring more players in and signings could go down to the wire at 11:00 pm Monday night.
Comments welcome.

Comment #43It’s difficult to believe anything as far as Newcastle and transfers are concerned. Take Remy to Leicester, okay so they are near the top of the Premiership but can they afford his wages because by all accounts their cap is £60k pw and Remy is alleged to be on £90k pw. Next is why should it matter to a loanee who joins a club half way through the season because it’s not as if they would have contributed to the early success which could easily fizzle out as Newcastle could prosper. Na sorry. The only reason Remy wouldn’t join us is because he simply doesn’t want to and no other reason. But it makes great reading fodder for the papers !

Comment #48All you multiples and the knacker clique just serve to spoil the blog.
Give it a rest you duplicitous dunderheads. Your aim of just getting “one over” other posters is pathetic.
You’ve all been caught with your pants down – not just down – around the ankles.
And Carls- he wanted to talk about football – was a post where he agreed with a post from one of their team to assault me.
Yeah – good footy post. (note the use of yeah not yer which is only used by Aussies and New Zealanders in the South Pacific) Pathetic.

Comment #51Carr’s been the driver behind the poor buys sanctioned by Charnley.
Let’s hope Ashley’s set the wheels in motion to get the pair of them replaced before the end of the season.

Of course Leicester can afford Remy’s wages.
The amount of money they’ll receive next year puts them.in the same position as us. But the difference is that they’ll speculate to succeed rather than gamble on making a profit on players.

Comment #55Somebody needs to tell Carr that we are stuffed with top quality strikers, centre backs and full backs but are woefully short of wingers and especially midfield players. With a quality line management of Ashley, Penfold Carr and McClaren, I know that they will deliver a midfield player. Who needs a striker when the clubs hotshot has scored forty, I mean four league goals in 20 odd games. More midfielders Mr Carr please!!!!!
