Who Is Guilherme Siqueira – 8 Facts On The Player

Assuming everything goes well and Atletico Madrid left back Guilherme Siqueira passes his medical he should become Newcastle´s fourth signing of January and the first defender we have signed.

He is expected to sign a loan deal through the end of the season.

Atletico Madrid left back Guilherme Siqueira

Here are some facts on the player.

  1. He was born in Florianópolis, Brazil in April 1986.
  2. After beginning his early career in Brazil with clubs like Figueirense and Ipatinga, Siqueira was signed by Udinese in Italy in 2006 and was there for four years and played 29 times for the Italian club.
  3. In 2010 he signed on for Granada and stayed there for four years and played 108 times with 13 goals for them before moving to Atletico Madrid 18 months ago.
  4. While at Granada he went on a season-long loan to Benfica in the 2013-2014 season and played in the Europa League Final for Benfica when they lost to Sevilla on penalties.
In that season he played 33 times for the Portuguese giants, so he is an experienced player.
  5. In the last 18 months since joining Atletico Madrid he has played a total of 45 times for the Spanish club but only 7 times for them this season.
  6. His contract at Atletico Madrid lasts through June of 2018.
  7. He stands 6ft tall
  8. Sky Sports´ Guillem Balague in Spain has said today that Guilherme is a better attacking full-back than than defending – and that he will settle quickly at Newcastle.

He should be a good signing for us through the end of the season and maybe we can sign him permanently in the summer if he performs well for us and we are still a Premier League club by then.

    Guillem Balague Verified account

Valencia and Turkish teams have approached Siqueira as he was close to agree a loan deal with Newcastle. He will now take time to decide

We were linked with another LB ….
If this fella doesn’t want to sign then we must move on. How many times has this happened, can’t be left standing with fingers crossed

Siqueira would still be featuring for Atletico if they had not signed Felipe Luis back from Chelsea.

Leftback is more needed than a striker in my opinion, hope we get him!

On gomis I honestly believe shelvey has said go get him as they used to link up really well and shelvey used to look for him all the time over the top. At the moment he won’t be relishing having mitro in front of him who doesn’t make any runs in behind taking away a big part of his game. I do like mitro but I think he needs to be the Deeney with someone playing up with him like ighalo

We need a pacy playing on the shoulder of last defender. Mitro is a bit of a slouch. Berahino.
