Official – Newcastle Miss Out On Both Left Back Targets

7:29 pm, Sunday, January 31st, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 40 Comments

Valencia have just announced that they have signed Newcastle target Guilherme Siqueira from Atletico Madrid and that they have reached an agreement with Levante for the transfer of Argentine defender Lucas Orban until next June 30.

So that means both left backs we were after over the last two days have decided to stay in Spain.

lucas orban argentina

Lucas Orban – joined Levante UD

The above says that Valencia CF have reached an agreement with Levante UD for the transfer of Argentine defender Lucas Orban until next June 30 .

The extension to this tweet says the following:

The Valencia CF and Club Atletico de Madrid have agreed the transfer of Brazilian Guilherme Siqueira to the Spanish side until June 30, 2017.

Magdalena Guilherme Siqueira (born 28.04.1986 in Florianopolis, Brazil) is a Brazilian left-back of proven quality, with good  experience in both La Liga and internationally.

Siqueira came into the league in 2010 from Granada CF and after being at Italian club Udinese. At Granada he completed three spectacular seasons in which he was one of the best left-backs in the league.

During his time at Granada, he went on loan to Portuguese club Benfica and put in some strong performances that caught the attention of teams like Atletico Madrid, who signed him for  the 14/15 Premier League season.

Siqueira will arrive tomorrow Monday, February 1  for a medical examination with Divina Pastora Seguros for the print media in the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna at 9:30.

He will then be presented at a press conference at the Media Center, after training, by Sports Director Jesus Garcia Pitarch.

This is not good news for Newcastle.

Comments welcome.

He must have felt like a right tw@t, can’t imagine his team mates were too happy either.
Really can’t see the sense in the Saviet deal in place of Tiote, but it seems more people think it is a good move than don’t, so what do I know.

Maybe it’s because we were supposed to be in tenth and the cheque book wasn’t meant to be opened, the only thing thst has gone to plan so far is our early exit from the cups!

Breaking | Lille are close to signing Emmanuel Rivière from Newcastle, according to @FloFieschi. Deal believed to be a loan.

  • 9 Thump // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:37 PM

    From last:

    Siqueira off to Valencia.
    Orban off to Levante.
    Berahino off to ????

If we’re lucky, we’ll end up with David Edgar back…

    Keith Downie

Our Newcastle sources say they’ve had NO response/knock-back from WBA for their £21m Saido Berahino bid.

Stuff Berahino once Doumbia is secured.

£10-15m for Gibbs or Robertson, £10-15m for a quality CB.

  • 26 toon kk // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:45 PM

Tbh it’s absolutely ridiculous being in the situation we’re in. Why the board haven’t just bought two top quality signings every year instead of either not buying or getting flops for the last six years. We’re on the brink of relegation and this transfer window is almost shut and panic is setting in.

  • 27 gorgonzola ( former Pecorino former to gorgonzola) // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:45 PM

4 Bids no signings….Got to love the way this club is run.

If we started in earnest would have had 8 signings.

There are other LB’s in the world. Get them in FFS.

  • 28 SUTTY1978 // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:45 PM

Just had Doumbia’s champ league stats for this season up on SSN, they’re awesome, would be good to get someone in whose in form.
They then had some stats up on Bera, he’s only ever scored 22 premier league goals! Jesus they want a million quid for every goal he’s scored!

  • 29 SA Toon // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:46 PM

That is really disappointing. Orban would’ve been perfect for us. I’m really bummed!

  • 30 jazzyp // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:46 PM

Let the mind games begin hahaha.
Sky could be up to there old tricks again to build up the transfer window.
Remember deadline days of old where they were falsely building up the hopes of the fans to get the fans to the grounds lol !

Strange how there has been no word on Doumbia as well

  • 31 ShirebrookToon // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:47 PM

Stoke haven’t bid and our bid hasn’t been rejected WTF is going off. And where’s Doumbia has he got lost on the metro

  • 32 Thump // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:47 PM

@cole the goal: I am behind the time. What does that have to do with your comments?

  • 33 TroubledToon // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:49 PM

Surprise surprise. How did we not see that coming!!??
What next? Newcastle miss out on both striker targets???

  • 34 firebug666 // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:50 PM

I have to agree mate, get the crowd to the ground and SSN rating up at the same time.

  • 35 Fostino // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:50 PM

A blog allows you to express an opinion about the team you support. If you’ve read my posts over the last few days you’d see my optimism and hope over the current proceddings going in at nufc. We are trying to buy hungry talent with heart. I think most aggree that those french players are holding us back.

A blog is not about attacking people and their opinions but feel free to continue to do so as I will only find it flattering.

  • 36 Obertans_on_roids // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:51 PM

Berahino is way over priced, a poor man’s Victor Anichebe.

  • 37 Thump // Jan 31, 2016 at 7:58 PM

@Fostino: Just ignore him. He can call you a mackem all he likes, I know that you’ve been on here since at least 2008 in some capacity while his is a name who appears once every few years, and is yet to make an insightful comment.

  • 38 Fostino // Jan 31, 2016 at 8:03 PM

I appreciate that. I certainly have been been a regular viewer on this site (at least logging in once a day im almost ashamed to say). I don’t post much i will admit but thats larely due to people like coal the goal. but these last few days just have me so excited again. Of course with the current regime in charge it’s never a good idea getting my hopes up.
